Re: [Dspace-tech] Recent submissions text does not change when metadata is updated

Ok I have been running dspace under jetty because I was having some issues
with tomcat caching pages. I would login and then two pages on it would ask
me to login again, or I would change some metadata and the page would not
show it until I cleared the browser cache. This didn't seem to happen with
the same frequency under jetty. But now when I change back to tomcat 6.0.18
 this problem has disappeared.

I found deleting the cocoon cache file
(/var/cache/tomcat5.5/Catalina/localhost/xmlui/cache-dir/cocoon-ehcache.data
-- Ubuntu) fixed many weird problems that were causing me to lose
hair.

Thanks. Just delete it once? It does not get rebuilt?

[Dspace-tech] Advanced search interface

2009-08-20 Thread Mariano A. Belladonna
Hi,

The default advanced search interface seems to only allow the user to
enter three search terms. What if I want to provide one more box? Is it
doable?

Thanks.-

It gets rebuilt. Probably best to stop tomcat before messing with it.

Re: [Dspace-tech] [Fwd: Advanced search interface]

2009-08-20 Thread Stuart Lewis
Hi Mariano,

The default advanced search interface seems to only allow the user to
enter three search terms. What if I want to provide one more box? Is it
 doable?

Yes, but it would have to be done by editing the user interface and search
code. It is not a configurable option that can be enabled 'out of the box'.

What if I want to search not all of dspace, not on a single community
but on, say, 2 different communities at once? Doable?

Again, not possible out of the box, but a competent Java programmer could
add this facility in to DSpace.

It could also be achieved by making sure that you structure your collections
and communities well, so that any communities that you may wish to search
together are grouped under the same parent community which is searchable.

Thanks,

P.S. - When asking technical questions, there is no need to post to both
dspace-tech and dspace-general. dspace-tech is your best choice so sending
it to. Sending to just that one means we don't all receive the question
twice. It is confusing that we have several email lists, so apologies for
that!
