[Dspace-tech] DSpace Mets profiles
Hi all, There is currently one Mets profile for DSpace that I know of https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpaceMETSSIPProfile. Unfortunately its been widely abused in the sense that it specifies that the metadata will be in MODS, but DSpace exposes and exports data claiming to adhere to the profile but with the metadata as EPDCX or even DIM. I would like to document a couple of new profiles that look exactly the same but refer to these other metadata schema. Why ? My interest is Sword. When sending a package to the Sword server I need to know exactly what package formats the server supports, including what metadata schema. Any objections ? Cheers, Robin. -- What You Don't Know About Data Connectivity CAN Hurt You This paper provides an overview of data connectivity, details its effect on application quality, and explores various alternative solutions. http://p.sf.net/sfu/progress-d2d ___ DSpace-tech mailing list DSpace-tech@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dspace-tech
Re: [Dspace-tech] DSpace Mets profiles
Hi Robin: No objections, and its long overdue. But a friendly amendment: we have to keep in mind that the Mets profile is not the same as the X-Packaging (package type) in the SWORD protocol. That latter has been a neglected and therefore somewhat problematic area, and the work you propose will definitely help. [Dspace-tech] DSpace Mets profiles
Robin, The page that describes the profile you refer to https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpaceMETSSIPProfile. is somewhat incomplete and has some broken links. I have found a more extensive document called metssipv0p9p1.xml from the original authors. I've been working with Tim Donohue on getting it archived but I don't know of a url for it as yet. What about using integer instead of sint... also try optimizing the index... see the following thread which sounds similar. http://www.lucidimagination.com/blog/2009/02/09/sorting-faceting-and-schema-design-in-solr/ !--*fields i added-- field name = var type = sint indexed =true stored =true mulitvalued =true omitNorms =true / copyField source =dc.format.extent dest = var/ field name=dc.format type=sint indexed=true stored=true multiValued=true/ dynamicField name=dc.format.* type=sint indexed=true stored=true multiValued=true/ !--*-- nothing out of the ordinary there... and added to : /dspace-1.7.0-release/dspace-instance/config dspace.cfg document the field for indexing: search.index.13 = var:dc.format.extent Solr doesn't use these fields, it indexes all metadata fields verbatim into the index. However, doing the same range searches in dspace 1.6.2 from solr admin search interface returns the expected results. Any help would be appreciated. If anything above doesn't work. Then I wonder if this is a solr bug, what if you tried downloading the out of the box Apache solr version and tested if a similar case worked there? If so, we may need to explore this with the Apache Solr community more directly. Mark -- Mark R.
