[Dspace-tech] R: Upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0

2013-12-27 Thread Andrea Bollini
Hi Karam,
if you have installed dspace the first time with a 3.1 you don't need to run
this step.
To check that anything work as expected just check that you are able to see
view or download statistics on old items.
If so, you are ok.
Optimize periodically solr (check the cronjob for some like solr-util) to get
better performance.

Oggetto: [Dspace-tech] Upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0

Hi all :)
I followed the instructions here :
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC4x/Upgrading+From+3.x+to+4.0

to upgrade our DSpace from 3.1 to 4.0 .
Everything is OK .
and no problems but there is one step I didn't understand how to do it .

Optimizing Solr indexes

wget http://www.example.com/solr/core/update?optimize=true

Our DSpace is working now , and I feel like there is no problems but I'm
afraid that not doing this step will make problems in the future to us

Please advice .

[Dspace-tech] Fwd: ingesting METS in DSpace 4.0

2013-12-27 Thread Evgeni Dimitrov
I started with DSpace four days ago and I am not sure how much
functionality to expect.
It is DSpace 4.0

I ingested a mets.xml and four pages and a thumbnail - with the METS
packager.
The mets file is attached.

First there was no ADMID attribute in the fileGrp and I was getting an
error message:
Invalid METS Manifest: file element without ID attribute.
Exactly as in Bug DSpace DS-1846

Then I added the attribute ADMID to the two filegroups. The ingest
succeeded.
And here comes something, which I wonder - is it the normal functionality
or is it a bug:

I see the item with a thumbnail and 4 bitstreems. I can view every
bitstreem (page) separately.

But I hoped that following the structMap, I will view the item as a whole
- with a kind of content on the left side and one current page on the
right side.

Could you tell me - was there something wrong with my second successfull
ingest - because of which I don't view the item as a whole? Or is this not
meant to happen?

And one more related question - in the code - around this error message I
saw a comment:
find the ID of the primary or Logo bitstream in manifest

What is considered as the primary or Logo bitstream in manifest ?

Thanks.

[Dspace-tech] Dspace handle problem

2013-12-27 Thread Mustafa SARI
Hi ,

I am having an issue with the handle server. We have an postgreSQL
database for the dspace. When clicking on a handle, I am seeing this error
page. There is no error message in the logs. We have the ports 2641 and
8000 open to the outside world. So, it's not a firewall issue.

I have followed this(
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC18/Installation#Installation-TheHandleServer)
documentation and make configurations, i have added our prefix to the
dspace configuration file also. Then restarted tomcat and handle server. I
have mailed this issue also to handle admin but i did everything what they
suggest but it did not solve the problem . Any feedback is appreciated.

Any feedback is appreciated.
