Re: [Dspace-tech] DSpace authorization policies
Dear All, Thank you so much for your valuable input! However, I would like to be able to do the same but using SQL queries. I don’t have access to run scripts on the server where Dspace is installed. Add to this, I don’t know how to write Ruby code. I need to make a batch change to the access policies of all items older than 50 years (having publication date older than year 1964). I want to make them public (ANONYMOUS). I tried to query the resourcepolicy table, but I didn’t know how can I set the right policy and how to link the item id with the resouce id. Your help is very much appreciated. Regards. It basically wraps a set of commands in a block which loads the DSpace jars and configuration, starts the ServiceManager, and then closes the context on exit. The repo contains an example of altering a DSpace object (renaming a collection). There are a lot of convenience methods that could be added to the block context, and I’ll try to add more sample scripts. Currently you kind of have to have some familiarity with Ruby to use this tool (but it wouldn’t be that difficult to add another abstraction layer on top of this). This certainly isn’t as fast/efficient as a SQL script, but I’ve found it’s really nice to have a DSpace scripting language. For this example, I “monkeypatched” the ResourcePolicy class since it doesn’t have a `findAll` method, but this usually isn’t necessary. This is just a first quick iteration—there are lots of things that could be improved in this script. Use at your own risk (though I don’t think there is anything breakable here). In our instance of 5.1, resource IDs are being reused when new groups are created. We've created new groups that have reused the ID numbers of already existing communities. The newly created groups do not appear in the list of all groups. The problem is that an ID for a group is guaranteed unique for the epersongroup table and a community ID is guaranteed unique for the community table, but there is nothing to keep both from appearing in the metadatavalue table as resource IDs. Yes I am indeed using Maven 3.3.1. I’ll remove it and install 3.2.5 and try it again… Thanks! Re: [Dspace-tech] moving dspace from 1 server to another
Sisay the assetstore contains your bitstream files structural info about communities, collections, items and the related metadata is stored in the database the user interface often relies on data in the solr search core when browsing/searching .. the solr index is populated as users create content like items. the index can also be updated/recreated by the 'index-discovery’ commandline tool. You should run DSPACE-INSTALLDIR/bin/dspace index-discovery -b There is something seriously wrong if you can not run this successfully. testing http://localhost:8080/solr tells you whether the solr server is up it does not tell you whether the search core is available a test whether the search exists and can be queried try http://localhost:8080/tstspace-solr/#/search/query Also if you increase the log level to DEBUG and restart you will see more of what is going on in your system in the dspace.log file. Change DSPACE_INSTALLDIR/config/log4j.properties where it says around line 41 log4j.logger.org.dspace=INFO, A1 to log4j.logger.org.dspace=DEBUG, A1 Monika Monika Mevenkamp phone: 609-258-4161 Princeton University, Princeton, NJ 08544 On Apr 2, 2015, at 2:47 AM, Webshet, Sisay (ILRI) s.webs...@cgiar.orgmailto:s.webs...@cgiar.org wrote: Hi Monika, My solr works well at http://localhost:8080/solr My problem is I couldn’t see 20 items that are migrated from old server. Re: [Dspace-tech] Error after install of DSpace 5.1
Thanks, Andrea: I do backup everything with every upgrade and that has been a help since I have had to go back and forth from 4.x to 5.x multiple times. I might just drop teh stats since I am not using them for my test instance. I am planning on converting our production instance soon, and I may take the the indexes from that and try them and see if I get the same error. Thanks for your help. Yes, I did see errors in the Solr log. It is: ERROR org.apache.solr.core.CoreContainer @ Unable to create core: statistics Format version is not supported (resource: segment _32 in resource ChecksumIndexInput(MMapIndexInput(path=/cul/app/dspace/solr/statistics/data/index/segments_1p0))): 2.x. This version of Lucene only supports indexes created with release 3.0 and later. If I later try to upgrade to 5.1, I see during the ant update: /cul/app/dspace/src/dspace-5.1-src-release/dspace/target/dspace-installer/build.xml:1061: ERROR occurred while checking Solr index version: Exception in thread main java.io.IOException: Could not read Lucene segments files in /cul/app/dspace/solr/statistics/data/index No sorry, I didn't see that. I did however run into a very similar problem with one of my own DSpace 5.1 development instances the other day. I'm not quite sure what state the solr indexes were in at that stage, so I'm not sure how to reproduce it. It does look like we should add a big warning to the upgrade instructions for people to back up their solr index first -- my problem went away when I re-set the usage stats data dir in my dev instance to a fresh copy from (4.2) production. I did try to manually update the Solr statistics using the instructions in the DSpace 5.1 Manual, but that didn't seem to help.. My suspicion is that once the upgrade fails halfway through for some reason, there is no way to recover from the situation. Hence the importance of the back-up! Is there a way to tell the DSpace that we don't want to use the Solr Stats? We have our own statistics gathering so I'm really not using them. It looks like you can disable adding new hits to the Solr statistics by commenting out the SolrLoggerUsageEventListener bean in dspace-xmlui/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/spring/applicationContext.xml (XMLUI) / dspace-jspui/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/spring//applicationContext.xml (JSPUI). Then you could delete the contents of [dspace]/solr/statistics/data (for anyone following along on this -- this _will_ wipe all your usage stats data! Do this only when you're sure that's what you want!) and that should be it. But I've never tried this, so it may break lots of things in lots of interesting ways. cheers, Andrea -- Dr Andrea Schweer IRR Technical Specialist, ITS Information Systems The University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand -- Dive into the World of Parallel Programming The Go Parallel Website, sponsored by Intel and developed in partnership with Slashdot Media, is your hub for all things parallel software development, from weekly thought leadership blogs to news, videos, case studies, tutorials and more.
