You want to start Tomcat at system boot, right?  If so, then the support doc 
that talks about login items isn't what you're looking for.

Try putting your startup script in the /Library/StartupItems folder.  

Later versions of OS X use a different method and if you upgrade your system 
i'll send you info on that.

  I have one question.
I am using MAC OS X 10.4. The dspace is working fine.
But when i restart the system, the tomcat is not running automatically.

How to start the tomcat at system start?

I am starting the tomcat manually by
"/usr/local/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/bin/startup.sh" every time the system
starts.

Hi Kumara,

There should be nothing to do with proxy.

The setting of firewall in OSX is  in
System Preferences -> sharing

There you are going to add a new exception to the firewall. The effect 
is to open a new hole in your wall, allowing others to connect to your 
tomcat at port 8080.

Hi all,

Dspace is working successfully from http://localhost:8080 and i have
created the administrator account.

But when i give the ip address(http://ip address:8080), the page won't
display. It says "Error: Request timed out".

Even though i have mentioned the ip address in dspace.cfg file, it
won't display.

How to make my dspace run from ip address so that i can access dspace
from other systems?

Details of the configuration files:

1. dspace (/usr/local/dspace/conf/dspace.cfg)

It was a not found error.
You've edited server.xml?
Else you can copy webapps dirs inside tomcat webapps dir.

Check your tomcat - webapp folder to see whether the DSpace directory
exists. You may restart tomcat and try again.

I am from india, just configured dspace in Ubuntu but registration of new
users  and forgot password  is not working .is there any seperate mail
server configuration required for dspace

which version of ant are you using?

You should use 1.6.2 or higher.
