This is not an answerable question as stated. Before we can answer it,
we need to know what kind of materials you have and what you need to
do with them.

DSpace and Greenstone have significantly different goals; without
knowing your goals, we cannot usefully help you compare the two
packages.

Twaha:

We at Cornell University use both DSpace and Greenstone, but for different
purposes. DSpace is our institutional repository where we store videos,
presentations, papers and books. Greenstone is used as a Newspaper archive
for our Campus Newspaper. So, they are used very differently.

Either DSpace or Greenstone would be an acceptable choice for this use.

DSpace is somewhat better on document preservation; Greenstone has
advantages in end-user usability and flexibility.

I would recommend trying both; it is possible to crosswalk items
between them, so time spent ingesting material into one will not be
lost.

I would also recomment that. But a year ago moving items from one greenstone
to dspace was so complicated for some items that we had to recreate almost from
scratch.

So, if you try both, don't let your collections grow too big/complicated before
you make the decision.

Eduardo.
