[Dspace-tech] URI is incomplete when importing items

2015-02-05 Thread Jeffrey A Trimble
We’re experiencing an oddity on of our DSpace installations. When batch
importing via the console (Unix prompt) that the URI in the dc field has an
incomplete handle, yet, the identifier/citation link at the top is correct. We
are running version 4.0x on this.

So, for example, we have “Please use this identifier to cite or link to this
item: http://hdl.handle.net/1989.1/279”

But in the item metadata itself, we have “URI:http://hdl.handle.net/1989”

The dspace.cfg looks correct. So does the handle server config.

I’ve drawn a complete blank on this in my little brain. I’m not actively doing
this work any longer, but asked to lend a hand.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Hello,
handle settings can be found in [dspace]/config/dspace.cfg
you will be able to substitute 123456789 with the handle identifier
you purchased from handle.net

Sounds a bit brute force. Isnt it possible to keep the
export from the day before, make a patch from the
current and the old one, adding some header and closing
lines similar to a PostScript processor adding a prolog
file? This should be a relatively simple perl or even
a shell script. Then, the prepared file could be added
to the DSpace repository.

Bye, Christian

Interesting use-case. DSpace wasn't designed for changing data...

 What can I do

... but it can be beaten into submission, at least in this case.

What I think you'd want to do is import the collection daily using the
ItemImporter's --replace function. You'll have to track which items
got which handles, and make sure the mapfile and the item folders do
the right thing. Once you have it set up, though, it should be a
fairly straightforward and automatable process.

I recommend exporting the collection from DSpace (I assume it's in
there already?) so that you can see what individual item folders
should look like. You don't have to reimport that collection dump;
it's purely for your information.

[Dspace-tech] URI

2008-01-22 Thread Eduardo de Paula Neves
Hello all,

I've one question about URI.
I have one old application that export full data to import to Dspace (no
incremental).
So I need to to destroy then rebuild a collection every day. What can I do
to make that the document keeps the URI every time I destroy and rebuild. Is
that possible?

Thanks.
