Registration of a new user causes a message to be sent to that user's
email address. The first thing I would check is whether the outgoing
mail server ([DSpace]/config/dspace.cfg: mail.server) is configured to
allow your DSpace host to send mail to hosts outside of mrc.gm<http://mrc.gm>.
It's
possible that your institution requires specific authorization for
that.

If that is not the problem, then I think that we will need more
information. Specifically, any messages from dspace.log from a few
seconds before to a few seconds after after the failure.

The timestamps from those messages would also help you to ask the
person responsible for your mail server for any log messages from that
service which might be helpful.

Dear All,

We are looking to track who are downloading the research paper which we
have kept in our repository by putting a simple form which include Name,
Affilation etc. When the user click on the download icon it will show the
form which he has to fill up first.

Can be this done in the existing framework or need to be customized.

we are using dspace 4.2.

In your case it's probably easiest to require self-registration using
PasswordAuthentication. The only thing you'd have to add to the
registration form would be the institution. It is slightly easier to
add new fields to EPersons in DSpace 5.

[Dspace-tech] User Registration dspace 3.0

2014-03-19 Thread Stephano John
Dear all,

We have been using dspace 3.0 for almost one year everything was working
okay, recently we have encountered a user registration problem "unable to
sent mail to this user" we have not made any of the changes in the system.
we are using smtp.gmail.com for outgoing mail

Is there any possibility of manually registering users in dspace? by any
chance are there any changes google has made on using smtp.gmail.com?

regards
stephano

Hi Paul,

not without modifying the code.

You can do that by adding one more addRecipient line here:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-3.2/dspace-api/src/main/java/org/dspace/eperson/EPersonConsumer.java#L76

for example:
adminEmail.addRecipient("parul.du...@itsl.in");

If the list of the email addresses doesn't change, another approach
would be to create an alias email address on your mail server that
would forward emails to your set of email addresses and then put the
alias email to registration.notify in dspace.cfg.

So again - what do you expect the registration link to do, since

whenever you want to register for user then first you have to make connection
with internet

then most important thing is that you have to specify or configure your mail
server account in dspace.cfg file

here you have to make changes.

like
smtp.mail.server.

I'm sorry, but I don't use JSPUI, so I can't give you advice on the
specific error.

I assume you restarted Tomcat after changing configuration. What
exactly were your actions that invoked the error? (There should be no
reason to use the registration form, so I don't understand how you got
there)

Hi Amjad,

this is the expected behaviour. That's why people use central
authentication (LDAP) - so that they can manage accounts and passwords
separately from applications (DSpace).

I think what you're missing here is that you don't have to register
when using LDAP. Just turn on autoregistration and you don't need to
use the registration form at all. Every time you log in, you'll be
authenticated against LDAP (that's why you don't need to store any
password). When autoregistration is turned on, the first time you *log
in*, a row will be created for you in the eperson table. When you log
in using ldap and you're autoregistered, your password in the eperson
table will be set to null.

> When i click on register page, it brings me to ldap registration form. At

See above. You don't use the registration form with LDAP. Just log in.

[Dspace-tech] User Registration through LDAP

2012-06-04 Thread AMJAD USMAN

Dear Community members,
I am facing problems in registering new users through LDAP.I am using DSpace
1.6.2, JSPUI, on Windows server 2008.
I am using LDAP test server created by Stuart Lewis (ldap.testathon.net:389).I
am following the instructions given in the manual and stuart blog.
When i click on register page, it brings me to ldap registration form. At the
same time, it sends me error notification as shown below. After entering
credentials it authenticates user and redirects him to registration page where
it asks for first name, last name, telephone and language credentials. here it
too gives the same error.
It creates account for the respective user in the Eperson table, but it does
not store password of the user, so the user is unable to get login to the
dspace.
can anybody help in this case?
the lines below show the error log:*An internal

Re: [Dspace-tech] user registration error

2012-03-06 Thread Tim Donohue
Rahul,

This "Internal System Error" message is just a generic message. To
track down the cause of the error, you'll want to look at your dspace
log files for any errors noted there.

We've written a "Troubleshoot an error" guide to help you figure out
what to look for:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error

Once you locate the error message, if you cannot figure out its meaning,
you are welcome to send it off to this dspace-tech list. Someone on this
list can help you determine what the issue may be.

- Tim

[Dspace-tech] User Registration profile form

2011-05-03 Thread Ki ran
Hello,
I am trying to customize the user registration form to add additional fields
in xmlui in 1.6.2. I did a search but did not find any documentation. Is
anyone in the community customized the user registration form? If so can you
please share the knowledge on how to do this. Another thing I want to do is
customizing simple item display in xmlui. I found info for jspui in
dspace.cfg but not much for xmlui. Can anyone help me on this topic as well.

Thanks
