Re: [dwm] Getting a List of Installed Applications in System

I feel like the navigation within the columns would make the window manager less dynamic, as the user would have to (or feel obligated to) keep rearranging windows. Re: [dwm] Mouse over tile ...
I think it's really useful. However I also implemented Mod-Button2 for toggling such floating clients back to tiled. Sorry, part of a previous message was nonsense. -- Damjan Vrenčur ~ http://lmmri.fri.uni-lj.si/damjan/ ~ GPG key: C6A3146F
[dwm] Mouse over tile ...
Hi! Today I spent a few hours working under Xmonad window manager. Curiosity ... There was one feature I found quite useful: When you use mouse to move or resize a tiled client, the touched client becomes floating and you are free to do it. It feeled logical and very natural for me. Note that I'm not talking about changing tiled porportions with mouse; here I prefer keyboard. What do others think about this? Re: [dwm] I pused the new tile() into hg tip
Hi! After an hour working with the latest tip I must agree with Giorgio. I do not feel comfortable with the new arrangement of windows, especially in the stack area and I doubt this uncomfortableness is due only to my lack of flexibility. As Giorgio said, I cannot find a scenario of work where this arrangement would fit, let alone help. On the other side, it feels nice to me that the RATIO controls arrangement on master area and the master:stack area ratio simultaneosly. This way you can quickly resize the main client on master area in both directions. On Fri, Aug 03, 2007 at 07:25:22PM +0200, Anselm R. Garbe wrote: I pushed my new tile() implementation into hg tip. Re: [dwm] Applying fibonacci or golden ratio to tile()?
Hi, I think this is generally a nice idea. However, I would rather see this only on master area. I usually mainly focus on clients on master area. Clients on stack area are there either for monitoring something or are waiting to get focus (via moving to them and Alt-Enter-ing) and are thus equally (un)important. One thing to consider is also that if stack area would be arranged unequally-like, there will sooner or later be a need for function(ality) to alter positions of clients within stack area, not affecting the master area. Re: [dwm] slock fails
My experience: It segfaults constantly on two amd64 machines (slock compiled from sorce), but works without problem on a variety (~10) of Intel machines in our company (my deb package). I have similar experiences regularly. I can't alway reproduce them, but it's there. slock seems to segfault sometimes. I didn't bother looking into it yet, but it's definitely a problem for a security related app. Peace, -- Damjan Vrenčur ~ http://lmmri.fri.uni-lj.si/damjan/ ~ GPG key: C6A3146F
