[DX] Ihmeiden aika ei ole ohi?
Toivottavasti tämä ei ole off-topic, mutta kaikkihan me siivoamme roskapostikansioita ettei sinne livahda Qusilleja. On siis maanantai, ja tavanomaiseen tapaan siivosin roskapostilaatikon. Sähköpostiohjelmassani on automaattinen suodatus, joka heittää epäilyttävät postit roskalaatikkoon. Ohjelma tekee viikon välein uuden roskapostikansion. Koska ohjelma on joskus vähän tyhmä, tsekkaan tietyillä hakusanoilla (dx, QSL, radio jne.) ettei asiallista postia ole mennyt roskiin. Samalla näen paljonko spammia on tullut. Tässä onkin ihmetyksen paikka. Nimittäin viime keväänä roskalaatikossa oli pahimmillaan 1050-1100 spammia tyyliin osta uusi piraatti-Photoshop, Rolex-kellon jäljitelmä, tai alastontyttöjä on tarjolla sekä liikekirjeitä Nigeriasta ja arpajaisvoittoja Hollannista. Elokuussa roskalaatikossa oli keskimäärin noin 650 spammipostia viikossa. Toissamaanantain roskalaatikossa oli 558 viestiä ja tänään 3.10. spammia oli enää 479 kpl. Roskapostin määrä näyttää laskeneen dramaattisesti puolessa vuodessa!? Lasku on jatkunut jo niin pitkään, ettei kyse voi olla tilastollisesta sattumasta. Onko muilla vastaavia kokemuksia? Vielä viime keväänä ennakoitiin, että koko Internet tukehtuu roskapostiin... ? Operaattorit ovat parantaneet omia suodatusohjelmiaan, esim. Sonera. Meikäläiselle ei tule enää juuri muuta roskapostia kuin satunnaisia Windows-ohjelmien kaupitteluja. Isot operaattorit, kuten Sonera ja Elisa, ovat alkaneet suodattamaan spämmiä oma-aloitteisesti. Tuskinpa sen määrä noin muuten on vähentynyt. Pikemminkin päinvastoin: laajakaistaliittymien yleistyessä maailmalla niitä on yhä enemmän ilman palomuuria ja siten kaapattavissa roskapostittajan lähdekoneeksi. Mulla tuli aikoinaan iki-osoitteeseen keskimäärin 4600 spämmiviestiä kuukaudessa: nyt enää parikymmentä kuukaudessa ikin ja Yahoon tehokkaan spämmifiltterin takia. [HCDX] Radio Memories across the Pacific
Radio Memories across the Pacific New radio heritage documentary at RNZI Rare recordings from American Armed Forces Radio stations in the Pacific region feature in the latest Radio Heritage Foundation [www.radioheritage.net] documentary from Radio New Zealand International. Listeners will hear an excerpt from a 1942 Mail Call show recorded in Hollywood with special messages for allied troops in New Guinea, part of 'The Night Watch' program from WXLG Kwajalein in 1953 - including the full official nightly close down announcement - and excerpts from a rare recording made of WXLE Canton Island from the 1970's. The documentary has 'Memories' as the theme, and includes a variety of popular music tracks from the 1940's and 1950's, including 'Polynesian Memories' by New Zealand's steel guitar star, Bill Wolfgram. A former WXLG engineer also remembers how he lost a tractor digging a hole in coral rock for a new antenna system in 1945, as the station tried to reduce skywave coverage of Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. Two recent newspaper articles with a common radio 'nostalgia' theme from India and Japan round out the program. The Hindu newspaper leads with a nostalgic look back at old Indian radio listening habits, and the Daily Yomiuri looks forward as three million former Japanese BCL fans reach their 40's and begin dusting off their shortwave radios and return to their old hobby. The documentary is scheduled for broadcast on October 10, and is then available in the 'more audio' section of the RNZI website [www.rnzi.com] under the Mailbox heading. The program is produced by the Radio Heritage Foundation [www.radioheritage.net] in association with RNZI and continues a series looking at radio issues around the Pacific region.
