[HCDX] Glenn Hauser logs November 5-6, 2016

2016-11-05 Thread Glenn Hauser via Hard-Core-DX
** ALBANIA. 7475, Nov 6 at 0023, no trace of R. Tirana, Albanian hour to North
America, vs. S3 noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 7580, Nov 6 at 0022, fair S8 signal in Chinese: must be CNR1 jammer
against IBB Tibetan via Kuwait, this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CHINA. 11780, Nov 6 at 0042, Chinese is atop RNA Brasília yet only S3, very
unusual. HFCC shows it`s CRI, 500 kW, 59 degrees from Jinhua site. Can make the
understation // good 6180. Quite a few weak FE signals are on the 9 & 11 MHz
bands, more so than Western Hemispherians, and also on 7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 5959.93, Nov 6 at 0010, JBA carrier, traces of talk. As long
suspected, this correlates with Anker Petersen`s log from Denmark of Xinjiang
PBS, Urumqi, Oct 27 at 2307-2315 on exactly the same frequency. I also hear
this off-channel carrier around sunrise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 17720, Nov 5 at 1727, AWR Africa, closing mentioning Tanzania,
awr.org, and chopped off at 1728* before she finishes. 1728 is indeed the
registered end of the 1700 Swahili broadcast, 250 kW, at 310 degrees and
producing a very good signal way over here. Better tell the studio to keep it
under 28 minutes (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 730, Nov 6 at 0108, heavy promotion for Grupo Radiorama, Estéreo
Viva, 107.1, `Qué Buena Mañana` show, i.e. XEHB, Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua.
I caution against assuming a Mexican on 730 is XEX, as XEHB really gets out,
better to here as a rule, in fact (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 6185, Nov 6 at 0015, R. Educación with a song including parlato in
English, ``I love jazz music``, undermodulated S9+15. Just an eclectic
happenstance, as no way they will dedicate a regular segment in English (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-USB, Nov 6 at 0044, S6 pirate with rock music; 0045
start another tune but cut off. 0048 retune, familiar extreme voice is talking
about dying of something, doesn`t know what; plenty of F-bombs, echoey studio;
says he missed broadcasting on Hallowe`en. It`s Dick Weed on Radio Free,
Whatever, per detailed log here:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,30937.0.html
Still going at 0131 music, 0133 announcement. Nothing else this sesquihour on
the pirate band, except a JBA AM carrier on 6949.95 at 0052 unreported in HFU.
Could be 5 x 1390- KCRC local (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Nov 6 at 0018, JBA carrier from R. Chaski barely detectable
against heavy Cuban jamming against nothing else. 0057 still the same, but I do
manage to hear the Chaski autocutoff at 0105:58.5*, which is 47.5 seconds later
than last check one week ago, Oct 30 until 0105:21*, or averaging 6.8 seconds
per, right on the mark (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA [and non]. 7315, Nov 6 at 0026 via WHRI, Voice of Vietnam with rock
song in English, and sign-off, well atop RRI in Spanish. There is also a JBA
carrier on 7335, where RRI is supposed to be --- HFCC shows that could be CNR
Beijing site in Chinese, which may be why RRI avoids 7335, but colliding with
WHRI is far worse in the Americas. During 0028 break, WHRI pushes a ``special
edition`` of the Bible before going back to Commie VOV for 0030+ Spanish (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 17755, Nov 5 at 1727, REE is fair here on the 161-degree trans-Africa
beam, yet inaudible on 9690, the 290-degree beam to North America, but petering
out into the Atlantic. Obviously it would be fine here if still on the A-16
frequency 17855. But at 1853, 17755 is down to a JBA carrier, while 15390 is
good and also audible on 15500, nothing yet on 11685, which is supposed to
succeed 17755 at 1900. Looks like from 1900, REE needs to be on 15 MHz band to
North America. 9690 does improve by 2000 or so (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** UGANDA [non]. 15240, Sat Nov 5 at 1709, very poor carrier, must be R.
Munansi, via WWRB. At 1726, now up to poor and African music audible. At 1733,
talk in presumed Luganda; still poor at 1850. Wonder if this will timeshift
from tomorrow due to clock change in Manchester but not Kampala. That would
make it 17-20 UT instead of 16-19. 15240 is B-16 registered available for WWRB
from 15 to 21 UT, 45 degrees which is way off for Uganda (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1850 monitoring. Brought up UTwente Sat Nov
5 at 1420 for HLR on 7265, myself forgetting that it`s already shifted one hour
later, but hearing something in Spanish! Didn`t stay with it, but uplooked
later, nothing in that language listed in HFCC, just Sinhala from CRI Kashgar.
Now I am doubting my ears/eyes, as sometimes UTwente display lags behind the
frequency it is audiblizing.

At 1500 I do hear the CRI theme, as the Hindi hour is starting, which every

Jatkumoa Markun vihjeelle! Tätäkin onnelaa lähdettiin ihan Suomestakin
käsin veronmaksajien rahoin rakentamaan, todetuin "tuloksin". Suomen
vasemmistolla on aina ollut omituisen läheinen suhde diktatuureihin lähtien
Neuvostoliitosta DDR:n, Nicaraguan, Kuuban jne kautta Venezuelaan.
Jyrkiltä asiaa ohjelmassa, tnx Markku!

2016-11-05 Thread RICK WALD via Hard-Core-DX
AWESOME Paul:

I just caught the Sports News on "NL" radio, 610 AM out of Kamloops B.C.

SINPO 5 ,12 Noon Local , UTC 1900-1905, English broadcast .

Sports-caster's Opinion was that The Vancouver CANUCKs still suck. But B.C.
Lions Football team has a chance at securing a home game IF THEY BEAT MY
SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS TODAY !!

GO RIDERS.

No fading or distortion.

I may request a "QSL" , & hope that they do NOT procrastinate on sending it FOR
SIX MONTHS.

Hopefully Sportcasters do not have their dog FIDO doing QSL's !!

[DX] Eilen perjantai-iltana 4.11. oli erikoisen huonot radiokelit

2016-11-05 Thread Kari Kallio
Oliko siis syy Auringossa?
Coronal holes
A small southern hemisphere coronal hole (CH770) was in an Earth facing
position on November 4. Another southern hemisphere coronal hole (CH771) could
rotate across the central meridian on November 8. (Effects from a coronal hole
could reach Earth within the next 5 days.) (Effects from a CME are likely to be
observed at Earth within 96 hours.) (There is a possibility of either M or X
class flares within the next 48 hours.)
Propagation
Long distance low and medium frequency (below 2 MHz) propagation along paths
north of due west over upper middle latitudes is poor to fair. Propagation on
long distance northeast-southwest paths is poor.
Forecast
The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet on November 5-6. On November 7-8
there is a chance of weak effects from CH770 and some unsettled and active
intervals are possible. Lähde: Alvestad

[DX] VOA Radiogram, program 188, 5-6 November 2016, all in MFSK32 except where noted

2016-11-05 Thread Kari Kallio
[Last weekend’s photo of Alderney, Channel Islands, by VOA Radiogram listener
Neil Howard, received and decoded on Alderney by Neil
Howard] [cid:image002.jpg@01D2368E.47B18D40]

Hello friends,

The B16 HF broadcasting season began on 30 October. Many shortwave broadcast
frequencies were changed on that date. The only change for VOA Radiogram is the
Saturday 0930-1000 UTC broadcast which will be on new 5865 kHz as of Saturday,
5 November. This transmission is usually heard in Australia and New Zealand and
sometimes in parts of Asia. And listeners in Europe should be on the lookout
for this 5865 kHz as the hours of darkness increase in the northern hemisphere.
All
other VOA Radiogram frequencies are the same: see the transmission schedule
below.
Reception of VOA Radiogram last weekend was affected by the geomagnetic storm
that started 27 October. For the Saturday 1600 UTC broadcast on 17580 kHz,
there was a definite line in Europe south of which reception was good, and
north of which reception was bad-to-nonexistent. There were even marked
differences in reception between the south and north of England.
Shortwave propagation should have recovered by this weekend, but just in case,
one VOA News story will be in the Olivia 32-2000 mode. The RSID should
automatically change your mode, but if not, Olivia 32-2000 requires a custom
setting, i.e.: Op Mode > Olivia > Custom > Bandwidth: 2000, Tones: 32. A quick
way to do this is to use one the Fldigi macro buttons below the transmit
pane, with this code: . I will provide 15 seconds after the
Olivia 32-2000 RSID in case a manual change is required. Also, for successful
decode of the Olivia 32-2000, turn the Fldigi squelch (SQL) off.
No one heard the “mystery transmission” last weekend before and after the
1600-1630 broadcast last weekend. You might try again this weekend, even as
early at 1540 UTC, before the North Carolina transmitter turns on its carrier
on 17580 kHz.
Here is the lineup for VOA Radiogram, program 188, 5-6 November 2016, all in
MFSK32 except where noted:

1:48 Program preview
2:58 Canary Islands may be site of new telescope*
9:13 Olivia 32-2000: New instrument for Mars**
16:33 Assortment of media news*
27:21 Closing announcements
* with image
** Op Mode > Olivia > Custom > Bandwidth: 2000, Tones: 32

Please send reception reports to
radiog...@voanews.com.

VOA Radiogram transmission schedule
(all days and times UTC):
Sat 0930-1000 5865 kHz (new frequency)
Sat 1600-1630 17580 kHz
Sun 0230-0300 5745 kHz
Sun 1930-2000 15670 kHz (with switch to standard time, one hour earlier by
local time in most of North America)
All via the Edward R. Murrow transmitting station in North Carolina.

The Mighty KBC will broadcast to North America Sunday, 6 November, -0100
UTC only (8-9 pm EDT) on 6145 kHz, via Germany. A minute of MFSK32 (repeated
from the previous weekend because of the poor propagation) will be at about
0030 UTC.Reception reports to Eric:
themighty...@gmail.com

DigiDX will transmit MFSK32 and probably other modes:
Saturday 2030-2100, 6070 kHz, via Channel 292 Germany
Sunday 0530-0600, 6070 kHz, via Channel 292 Germany
Sunday 2130-2200 UTC, 15770 kHz, via WRMI Florida
Sunday 2330-2400 UTC, 11580 kHz, via WRMI Florida

 or

IBC (Italian Broadcasting Corporation) has a broadcast to Europe on 6070 kHz
and new 3975 kHz, Wednesdays, at the new time of 1800-2100 UTC. The MFSK32 and
Olivia 16-500 are still at 2030-2100 UTC. IBC has also added a medium wave
transmission Saturday 2000-2030 UTC from Radio Studio X, 1584 kHz, in
Terni,Italy, with MFSK32 at 2025-2030. IBC also has MFSK32 transmissions via
WRMI in
Florida: Friday 0125-0200 UTC on 9955 kHz (Thursday 9:25 pm EDT), part of its
0100-0130 broadcast. And Saturday at 0155-0200 UTC (Friday evening 9:55 pm
EDT),on 11580 kHz, part of its 0130-0200 broadcast. See
http://ibcradio.webs.com/
for the complete schedule and contact information.

Thanks for your reception reports from last weekend, even if only to let me
know that you heard no signal due to the poor propagation. I’m now compiling a
gallery of the Alderney images and hope to begin sending them out this weekend.
I hope you can tune in and write in this weekend.
