This information has been revealed in official documents during the ongoing week-long national workshop on Digital Radio Migration policy of Radio Pakistan at Pakistan Broadcasting Academy, Islamabad. The digitization will bring about a revolution in the field of broadcasting in the country, and will capture the audience at home and abroad including South Asia and Central Asia and the Middle East through quality news, current affairs and programs. Under the plan, the biggest 1000-Kilowatt DRM Medium-wave transmitting station of Radio Pakistan will be set up at Fort Monroe hill station in Dera Ghazi Khan district in South Punjab at an estimated cost of three billion rupees. It will be the first ever most powerful but digital transmitter of Radio Pakistan that is to be established in center of the country as part of Phase-II of Digital Radio Migration policy and it will help cover the entire population of Pakistan with crystal clear and noise-free waves. The project has already been approved by the federal cabinet while the Punjab government has been asked to acquire land for the said purpose. Under Phase-II of DRM plan, five DRM+FM transmitters of 10-kilowatt each will be installed in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad and Multan in the existing Radio Stations. Besides, eight DRM+FM transmitters of five kilowatt each will be installed in Quetta, Peshawar, Gilgit, Skardu, Gwadar, Mirpur (Azad Kashmir), Khairpur and Narowal in the existing radio stations. The phase-II of the plan would be accomplished in three years with an overall estimated cost of 3,153 million rupees. We are reallysurprised to learn how many people can listen to us all over Europe and fromSiberia to the East Coast oft he United States. Inspite of the World Wide Webpeople still enjoy listening on shortwave, and like us they are fascinated bythe myth of wave propagation. That explains the name of our station„Mystery21“. We have been onair for many years, but we are newcomers on shortwave. We chose the 60m bandbecause oft the variety of propagation conditions: short distance in Europeduring the day and DX after sunset. Our equipment iscompletely homemade and we are testing with 1,2 KW PEP from 8 relatively cheapmosfets and a simple inverted V dipole antenna installed at 25 meters above thesoil. We use soundprocessing with an optimod pc card and with stereo tool. Our bandwidth is alittle bit higher than with most commercial stations. We apologize fornot having any printed QSL cards at the moment. Considering the high number ofreception reports we are thinking about E-QSL. small rewording oif the original text : It took just two weeks to restore the transmission quality from the first program of ERA on 88 MHZ, after thenew political party took place in the government. This was the only stationin FM suffering from this problem. The problem was two fold: background bassy sound plus impulsenoise when heard in DSP radios as Tecsun PL380 and Degen 1126 usingthe same chip . This impulse noise caused by possibly excessive modulationindex causing higher transmission bandwidth tough in my SDR it was shown with typical BW as other stations. This double problem happened around two years ago but remained for quite long… Two days agoI received the following reply form an ‘electronics engineer’ : -Thiscan be a problem with poorly designed DSP and SDR radios Short Reply:impulse noise is added from the loss of information from filtering a wideband FMsignal. Long reply:This happened many time to me as engineer on satellite TV antennas when tuningto 36 MHZ poor wide band TV signals . As far you narrow down the pass band, the imagecold from the one side clear from external noise but in same time new sparkles cold beadded from the too narrow signal especially in very intense colors The samecan happen with the Silicon Labs DSP used in all Tecsun and Degen radios. Itsfilter is quite narrow less than 120 kHz. This is my estimation from my long practice with them older times. I cold receive moderate signals at every 50 kHz. Aback on 2256 there was a short power off while the programwas about Iraq and signal was decreased to around S9 Below then there was a transmissionin farsi that was more clear on 2250 ,apparently V Iran .
