[DX-CHAT] VP6DI

2002-09-22 Thread Frank Macklin

Are the cards still coming out for VP6DI or has he finished QSLing. Still
waiting for mine but I do not want to re-QSL if he is still working on them

[DX-CHAT] YA4T

2002-09-22 Thread Mike Lazaroff K3AIR

Hi gang,

This morning I worked YA4F on 10m. He gave his name as Nick and QSL route
as his home call G4KUX. He did sound British and the beam heading appeared
to be correct for YA. Anyone know for sure if this is a good one?

Re: [DX-CHAT] [DX-NEWS] ER1QQ

2002-09-22 Thread Ron Notarius WN3VAW

Who said I expect the entire world to speak English?

To avoid any other confusion, the point that I was trying to make is that
there MAY be a language barrier and THAT might be why so many comments being
made to the station in question about QSL practices are being misunderstood.

Regretfully, either of my High Schools offered Moldavian or Russian as a
language option, at least while I attended them. I'm limited to Spanish as
my second language.

Ron,
Why do americans think that everybody in the world must speak English?
If you spoke to him Moldavian or Russian you'd be understood no problem.

Re: [DX-CHAT] [DX-NEWS] ER1QQ

2002-09-22 Thread Ron Notarius WN3VAW

(Reply moved from DX NEWS to DX CHAT since this is a discussion, not a news
item)

I worked ER1QQ on 20 phone on Wednesday evening (EDT) / Thursday morning
(UTC). When I tried to tell him that he was my first contact with my
renovated Classic station, he came to me somewhat confused, repeated the QSL
information, and moved on to the next contact.

I was left with the distinct impression that his command of English may not
be that strong, and the "confusion" was probably from his inability to
understand what I was trying to tell him. Especially if he's never heard
the name "Hallicrafters" on the air before!

In any event, I also heard him say "100 Percent QSL via QRZ.COM." If the
problem is what I think it is, he probably does QSL everything he gets -- he
just doesn't get everything that's sent to him. So, FWIW, if I can figure
out a way to tell him, I would gladly volunteer as his QSL manager to help
out in that department (and the same goes for any other ER stations having
the same problem)

ER1QQ was on 20 Phone two nights ago - When a number of hams questioned him
on his QSL practices - he consistently responded with the QRZ.com comment
PLUS added that he ALWAYS QSL'd - 100 Percent - go figure - and again - I
heard it on the radio!

good hunting and 73,
