RE: [DX-CHAT] V51AS

2007-02-28 Thread Don
I've received quite a number of band (7) and SSB/CW (wish he'd do rtty!)
QSL's direct from V51AS.

I've sent a bunch via direct regular airmail but these usually get lost in
the system before they reach Frank.

I've talked with him via email about his QSL rate and the best means to get
my card/SSAE/$$ to him.

He's a 100% QSL rate WHEN HE GETS YOUR QSL.

Since direct airmail QSL's suffer an almost 100% decimation due to postal
theft consider these options:
You'd better use the registered route (although that takes about 8 weeks to
work its way through the system) - cost will be about $11-12

OR

If you are really in a hurry, try the USPS Priority Mail. This is 2-3 days
to get there. Unfortunately the cost on this is around $30,00 - but you
could consider getting a small group together to bear the expense.

Or,

via the Bureau. I have received them from Frank via this route as well but
it is very long.

Good luck

Does V51AS respond to QSL cards? I noticed he has had over 67,000 hits on
QRZ.COM.

I've worked him on a couple of bands and sent registered mailed (with green
stamps) and no response. Does he have a mail problem and it doesn't get to
him?

Anyone else having difficulty receiving QSLs from V51AS?

This has been hashed out many a time on the DX QSL reflector.

Yes, he responds to cards. When he gets them.
Yes, he has a mail problem.
Yes, many have offered to assist him in QSL'ing. Until recently, he
declined. That may have changed, but again, the DX QSL reflector is the
best place to get those answers.

Russ,

Can find no listing for T77NN, not even on the T7 call book online. Could
it be Tony T77C that you worked?

[DX-CHAT] Fw: Cushcraft Sold

Cushcraft Sold

Long-time ham-radio manufacturer Cushcraft Corporation announced today
that it has been purchased by U.K. based telecommunications giant Laird
Technologies for $89.75 million in cash. Founded by Lester Cushman in the
40’s and starting out in a Hayward St. Garage, the Manchester NH company
has grown steadily over the years, diversifying into a wide range of
antenna markets to include wireless LAN, WiFi, RFID, WiMAX and more. Last
year, Cushcraft enjoyed annual revenues totaling over $33 million with an
operating profit of $8.9 million. The company, which nearly tripled sales
over the past 3 years, has been one of few to successfully outsource a
large percentage of its annual production without the loss of a single
domestic job. According to a company spokesperson, the Manchester facility
at 48 Perimeter Road will be key to Laird’s expanding strength in
engineering and RF product design.
