Re: [DX-CHAT] Romney dismisses Amateur radio

2008-01-15 Thread Dennis Kopecky
As this thing unfolds, I think we have to interpret where Mr. Romney's
frustration really lies. I get the impression the state had set up an emergency
communications system, at considerable expense, using trunking and digital
technology, and its not performing as represented by the supplier/installer:
CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG, please,

I interpret his frustration, and voicing of a comment such as we all seem to be
taking out of context, to Mr. Romney's frustration with having spent
considerable amounts of taxpayer money for an emergency communications system,
which is found to be not working, or not working as expected. He is directing
his frustration toward the SUPPLIER (Motorola (?)) ! In other words, we don't
have to turn to the capabilities of the amateur radio operators, when the real
problem is, and its our responsibility to get fixed, that we are going to get
this system that we spent so much money on WORKING first, and not have to
impose on (what we hams already know) is another reliable resource, as was
shown in any number of emergency scenarios in the past.

We need to fix the problem that we spent the state taxpayers' money on, and
not be so dependent on the good graces of hams in this state, or anywhere else,
to have them shore up what the people would expect of the government they
placed in office. (My interpretation of what his thinking would be on what the
real problem is !).

I have no political agenda whatsoever. I merely tried to gather some backround
on this comment, (and what I found is from other postings, not some verifiable
websites, which is why this is only an interpretation). Its becoming apparent
that there was some kind of breakdown of something (anything) that the state
had high expectations for the money they spent, in the best interests of their
people in that state.

Dennis, WJ2R

What does this have to do with DXing ??? Mitt was a conservative governor in
a state full of loony lefties, and he got frustrated dealing with the liberal
media ?? And what was the natural disaster that Mitt didn't deal with in
November 2005 ? Do you remember ?

Whoa!

This subject does NOT relate to DX'ing. It does not belong on this list.

If you wish to participate in this discussion, it is ongoing in the QRZ.COM

But not here.
