America as it is frequented by the infamous K1MAN and his long winded "bulletin" transmissions. N. America would likely never be able to hear the VU4's signal if it has to compete with K1MAN's bulletin transmissions. Please suggest to the VU4 stations to pick another frequency to listen for N. America besides 14.275. Perhaps the 20m IOTA frequency 14.260 would be better. 73 Phil NA4M .--. .. .-.. _. ._ _ _ _ -- Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news@njdxa.org THE DXR is sponsored by the North Jersey DX Association. There is also a new Google Groups feature starting up... Digest format is available as are individual e-mails, full list maintenance, etc. What's more, their service offers a calendar, a file storage area, database, etc. Again, not ideal (it blocks e-mail addresses and has some on-line advertising), but certainly a usable option. I'm on over 40 of these for other hobbies and professionally and I'm generally pretty happy with them. I subscribe to another e-mail list and I'll ask the listmoms if there's space for these two lists, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. 73 de Peter (W2IRT) [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please visit http://www.nyctrackbook.com for details of my book Tracks of the NYC Subway -- Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news@njdxa.org THE DXR is sponsored by the North Jersey DX Association. [DX-NEWS] Web based alternative
One thing to take into consideration while thinking about an alternative to the current reflectors. I think it highly likely that the spam reporting was intentional and malicious. If the person(s) responsible find an alterative method to continue the assault, the only alternative will be to shut down the lists. A web-based alternative may not be ideal but is it worse then no list at all? [DX-NEWS] Web based alternative
GM all, Several people have suggested a web-based alternative to the current dx-news and dx-chat reflectors. The idea is certainly worth some serious though and discussion. Blogs are much in the news lately. A blog is a web page where a person posts their musings and other people can comment on the original posts. Search Google for blog and you will get more information than you ever wanted. http://www.google.com/search?q=blog&btnG=Google+Search A blog for our purpose must allow any subscriber the ability to both post and comment on an existing post. The advantages of this format are many. The disadvantage is that you would have to visit a page on the NJDXA.org website to get you dx fix. We would really like your comments on the idea. First, visit the poll at http://njdxa.org/poll.php and let us know your overall preference. Secondly, we will consider the web-based alternative DX news for a short period of time so post your questions or comments to the dx-news or dx-chat list. Thanks in advance.
