[DX-NEWS] RTTY Most Wanted survey 2011

2011-02-27 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
From: Larry Gauthier (K8UT)
Date: Sun, Feb 27, 2011 at 10:36 AM
Subject: [GOLIST] RTTY Most Wanted survey 2011

All RTTY operators are invited to participate in the RTTY Most Wanted
Survey 2011.  This survey is being conducted by Larry K8UT and myself.
Larry has graciously offered to host the survey on the Southeast
Michigan DX Association website.  This makes perfect sense since Larry
already had the form created and ready to go.

This survey will be run for 3 weeks beginning now until midnight EST
Monday, March 20, 2011.  The results of the survey will be announced
when they have been compiled.

Please submit to the survey only once per callsign unless you have
made a mistake or your "needs" list on RTTY has changed within the
survey period.  If more than one survey is submitted with your
callsign, we will use the last one submitted.  The survey can be found
at:

http://rttysurvey2011.semdxa.org

Thank you for your participation.  Thanks to Larry K8UT and the
Southeastern Michigan DX Association for hosting the survey.  Please
report any problems with the survey directly to Larry at
k...@k8ut.com.

[DX-NEWS] Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin #1000

2011-02-27 Thread Tedd Mirgliotta (KB8NW)

SB DX @ WW < KB8NW $OPDX.1000
Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 1000

The Ohio/Penn DX PacketCluster
DX Bulletin No. 1000
BID: $OPDX.1000
February 28, 2011
Editor Tedd Mirgliotta, KB8NW
Provided by BARF80.ORG (Cleveland, Ohio)

Thanks to the Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Society, Northern Ohio DX
Association, Ohio/Penn PacketCluster Network, AB5K & the AR TelNet Clusters
Network, K1XN & GoList, NJ1Q, K3LR, NG3K & ADXO, N4AA & QRZ DX, KH6BZF,

VA3RJ & ICPO, VHF-DX-Portal (MMMonVHF) and VU2PAI for the following DX
information.

SPECIAL NOTE FROM EDITOR (OPDX Hits 1000!). It is hard to believe
that I have written 1000 bulletins since 1991. It is even harder to
believe that the bulletin went out almost 20 years ago and OPDX's
20th anniversary will be on March 11th. Many changes have happened
since the first bulletin (distribution, the number of subscribers,
format and size). The bulletin was originally written for a small
group of PacketClusters between Ohio and Pennsylvania, and an online
phone BBS (called BARF80) which then expanded to an InterNet mailing
list. There is no real way to know now how many people read the OPDX
because it is distributed via 9 mailing lists (which includes the
OPDX Subscribers Mailing List - currently having over 3200 subscribers
and provided by Dave/WB8APD, via HAMNET.org), 3 UseNet groups, the
Official OPDX Web Page (HTML version provided by John/K8YSE) and
several other Web pages that post the bulletin. The bulletin itself
has grown from about 75-100 lines each week to over 500-600+ lines.
The main purpose of the bulletin was to help individuals achieve their
DXCC, but now has expanded to achieve/work towards other awards and
special interests. The bulletin's information is provided by many
individuals, searches on the Web and other dedicated shared sources,
usually listed at the top of bulletin each week. If not for them,
there would not be a bulletin. I also must not forget my wife Linda,
OPDX's chief proof-reader/non-ham/LD teacher. As my wife continually
keeps asking me each week, "Why do you do it for FREE?", the answer
is -- For the love of the hobby and to help others work DX.

I have updated the ADIF to Marathon conversion program for 2011. You
can get more information here:

Please contact AD1C (not K9EL) if you have problems installing or
using this conversion program.
