[DX-NEWS] VU7 Lakshadweep update
VU7RG Lakshadweep Island DXpedition NEWS of December 05th: December 5th another five VU7 permits and 3 reciprocal licenses were granted to foreign Hams by WPC (Gov. of India) for the VU7RG operation. The team is finishing now the last logistics for a full-fledged operation of 15 manned stations. New field tests of our VU7 scouts confirmed that internet access on the islands will allow the team to upload online logs on daily base. VU7RG will make use of Pilot Stations which will receive and forward public observations so that the team can react accordingly in a timely manner. We are glad to have Klaus DL1XX and Don N1DG as proofen pilots, a third one will be announced soon. You now have a comparison from the area we are going to and this gives us the opportunity to benefit from your monitored bandopenings. We are pleased to inform that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Department of Telecommunications, WPC wing has released the first list of Special permission issued to foreign hams holding Indian amateur radio license to operate amateur radio stations from Bangaram, Kadmath and Agathi in Lakshadweep Islands. 15-11-2006 The WPC, Govt. of India, has initiated the process of issuing reciprocal licences to the applicants of VU7 HAMFEST participants. The first batch of 10 reciprocal licences are received today. More are expected to be issued in due course. Excerpt of the just spread Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin #776: "VU7, LAKSHADWEEP ISLANDS. There has been a report that David, K3LP, is planning to be active from here as VU7/VU3RWO between January 15-25th. Activity will be mainly CW and SSB, with limited RTTY. He will use 2 SteppIR beams with 2 amps. No other details were provided. Stay tuned!" FYI: It is correct that the National Institute of Amateur Radio started with first preparations regarding a VU7 dxpedition. This is an open secret since a NIAR announcement has been made at Hamradio Germany. [DX-NEWS] VU4 HAMFEST - UPDATE
VU4 Operation - UPDATE I spoke several times with NIAR, VU2MY, VU2RBI, VU2MYH: NIAR requests registration emails (details to be found on www.niar.org) within next 5 days. Please mention how long you want to operate!!! This email is without obligation. NIAR understands that still many details are missing which would be needed for a final decision to join the VU4 Hamfest and VU4 operation but nevertheless they need many registration mails now for some reasons. They will try to upload more details within 24 h, all final details upto end of next week. It is likely that: Operations will start on first day of Hamfest (april 18) Operations to be allowed for up to 4 weeks NIAR will give hotel recommendations, will ask hotel management for antenna permits Joining Hams can choose hotel/operation site by their own Check the NIAR webpage regularly for updates, actually there is some delay in doing updates. 73 Frank, DL4KQ GDXF
