Re: [DXR] ZL8RI
The slim was not a ZL slim as beam headings were wrong for us. He pointed more up to the islands from here. A lot of us heard him at the time. He seems to come out of retirement every few years, probably making Slim DXCC the hard way! I called hi back a few years ago and soon as he heard the call he went QRT Hmmm! [DXR] PW0S QSL Status
Update on PW0S QSL Status: It appears that I will have the QSL cards for PW0S, barring unforeseen shipping problems, the weekend BEFORE Dayton. I expect them to arrive at my QTH on May 11th. If this happens on schedule, I plan to issue ALL direct QSL cards that are clean in the log by Tuesday, May 15th (it will be a busy weekend, but most of the preparation is done). Thus, many of you should have a shot at having your card in advance of the Dayton Hamvention. If the schedule slips, my plans are to do what I can do before leaving for Dayton, and finishing the process upon my return. Some of the PW0S members will be at Dayton, and will be hand carrying the paper logs, which will allow me to research any of the 'not in log' qsos. Thus, if your card does not appear in your box immediately, please give me a few weeks to research the logs, as you may well be not in the log. I'll post a note when the QSL process is 'up to date'. Thanks to all of you that included donations with your QSL requests. The donations will be forwarded to the PW0S team to help pay down the expenses of this operation. If you would like further details, PY7ZZ's web site has a very detailed accounting of the DXpedition expenses, which you may find of interest. Go to the log search page at http://www.soutomaior.eti.br/mario and click on the 'Costs' shortcut.Donations are still being accepted by myself and W9VA, Bill, as we are still trying to close the gap on expenses. 73 es DX IS! Re: [DXR] (Fwd) TX0C
TX0C was weak but workable on 80M 30 minutes past my SR (1130Z) Sunday morning and an hour past my SR on 40M Monday morning. I managed to work them on both bands through the W5's who were enjoying their SR peak (not to mention the hordes of JA callers). Don't bother to look for the Post Sunrise Peak on most propagation programsthey DO NOT show up...most are very POOR indicators of Low Band openings. They are fairly good at indicating what TIME the MUF will peak, but often underestimate the actual MUF (IMHO). FWIW, if / when you can hear VK's or FK's, you should be able to hear TX0C. My old copy of MiniProp by W6EL shows the following openings based on a solar flux of 140 (today was 190) from North Alabama. 40M 07 to 11 Z (N4KG worked at 1200 as noted above) 30M 60 to 12 Z 20M 00 to 13 Z 17M 03 to 15 Z 15M 19 to 07 Z and 12 to 14 Z 12M 19 to 06 Z and 13 to 14 Z 10M 19 to 00 Z, possibly later Don't forget the very reliable Long Path openings on 20 and 17M in the afternoon and 10, 12, 15M in the mornings. Perhaps we will hear them more after they get some rest from setting up the stations and living quarters. de Tom N4KG in North Alabama On Mon, 30 Apr 2001 Steve - KF2TI [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: For those of you trying to work the Chesterfields. so interesting insight... The critical frequencies F1c (East Coast) and F2c (TX0C) are not even close for 22 Hrs of the day (20 - 10M) Also at this time of year, no have (not even close) a useable Gray Line between East Coast and TX0C. If it were Fall, we would. Best chance of working TX0C is on 20M between 0300 - 0500 Short Path Direct, or 40M 0500 - 0700 with flux 180. However, TX0C has to be on 20M and 40M at these times, and according to Cluster Net spots on MDXA Cluster Net which I have been virtually monitoring 24 Hrs a day, TX0C has not. Foregoing times in E.D.T. If you feel any of above info to be of use to [DXR] members, feel free to make a Post. My W6EL Prop for the past week has been showing MUF to TX0C of 8 - 13.5 Mhz for the various levels of Solar Flux, K Index and different times of day. So, W6EL pretty close to Robert's program.
