* PLEASE NOTE: The report could contain Pirate/SLIM operations. As
always, you never know - Work First Worry Later (WFWL).

3W, VIETNAM. Karl, W9XK, is now active signing 3W2XK near Saigon and will
be in Vietnam until April 9th. He was spotted this past week on 14260 and
14245 kHz. Other reports indicate that he will also be active on 15 and
and 10 meters. Also, check the Southern Cross Net (14226 kHz at 1200z)
and the DX Family Hour Net (14245 kHz at 1500z) almost every day. QSLs
should be sent via W9XK but after April 9th.

5U, NIGER (Update). Paolo, I2UIY, reports that the dates of their DXpedition
to Niger have been finally decided and tickets (licenses) are in their
hands. The DXpedition will take place from Fenruary 3-18th, 2002. A Web
site has been created to support the upcoming DXpedition and the URL
address is: http://www.qsl.net/niger-2000
There is survey on the Web page to help them understand on which bands
and modes Niger is needed by the DX community. Please help them spreading
the word about the survey. Paolo also mentions that during last weekend
they tested the new antennas for low bands that they will carry with them.
The 7 operators will keep 3 stations active on SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31
from 160-6 meters. A station will be active on 80/160m each night.

8R, GUYANA. Esmond, 8R1AK, continues to be very active with the special
callsign 8R1USA until the end of the year. His activity over the past
week was on 20/17/15/12/10 meters usually starting after 2300z and staying
on until 0200z or later. QSL via 8R1AK.

9U, BURUNDI. Gus, 9U5D, was active this past week on 20/17/15 meters.
Watch 14248, 18148 and 21290 kHz after 1845z. QSL via SM5BFS. Also,
Piero, IK2BHX, is expected to be active as 9U5DX until January 4th.
He is currently there on an UN mission. He will be on the air mainly
on the WARC bands during his spare time.

A4, OMAN. There was plently of activity from here over the past week.
Operators A41KJ, A41LD, A41LZ, A41MO, A45XK and A45XR were all active.
A41LZ was probably the most active on 80/40/20/15/12 meters SSB. A45XR
was heard active on 160 meters between 2030 and 2100z. A45XK was heard
on RTTY around 14080 kHz after 1415z.

A5, BHUTAN. Wangpo, A51WD, was active on 15 meters on 21280 kHz after
0530z and again around 1100z. QSL via Bhutan ARC.

ANTARCTICA NET. On 21275 kHz each Monday at about 1700z a traffic net-like
operation is held on this frequency. DXers have a chance at this time to
work stations from Antarctica, however, DXers should allow the Antarctica
stations a chance to exchange their traffic info first before trying to
work them. The net is usually visited by ZS7/ZS4AGA and R1ANF, as well as
VP8CMH/mm regularly. In the coming weeks, they expect the following stations
to possibly visit them: KC4/N3SIG from Mc Murdo Base, R1ANF who is expected
to arrive at Bellingshausen Base, YL Mechita who might be active from
DP0GVN from the Neumyer Base and the possible activation of the new German
base Kohnen Station.

D902, SOUTH KOREA (Attention Prefix Hunters). Look for special event
station D902WSF to be active December 31st through January 4th, from
the Pohang
