I was told by one of our Indian fellow hams that there
are severe military restrictions on Andamen oand
Nicobar islands. I dont understand why, but it seems
to be a fact.
Laccadives is a tourist area and you can get there
easily. Getting a permit in India appears to be quite
a challenge - also for the natives. They inherited the
British bureaucracy and refined it to an extent we
find incredible. For an Indian to become a ham, it
takes quite an effort. That is probably the main
reason for relatively few VUs on the air considering
the size of the population and their educational
level.
