[Dx-packages] [Bug 1229370] Re: Launcher is empty saying Sorry, there is nothing that matches your search
I also started having this problem after upgrading from Ubuntu 13.04 (64-bit) to 13.10. I checked and I also have unity-scope-home installed, so I'm not sure why I would be getting this problem. [Dx-packages] [Bug 880881] Re: Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status
Just installed 13.10 on my laptop with two batteries (previously running Gentoo). Got worried when battery seemed to be draining much faster than Gentoo/Gnome, but realised it was basing it's calculations on a single battery. It just went from 0% to 98% as the laptop switched between batteries. Both were present in the dropdown, as in the initial bug report. Any news? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-power in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880881 Title: Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status Status in The Power Indicator: Triaged Status in “indicator-power” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: I have an EliteBook 8540w with internal and external battery running Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric). E.g. if one battery still has 1 hour left, and the other has 2 hours left, it will show 1:00 or 2:00, instead of 3:00. E.g. When the external battery is almost run out (but the internal one is still charged), the indicator becomes red, instead of staying white/grey. It should only be red when both batteries are almost drained. E.g. when the internal one is fully charged, and the external one is discharging, the estimated time show is the estimated time that the external one will be discharged, not taking into account the internal one. see attached screenshot (total time show should be around 4 hours) The original applet provided by gnome (I re-enabled the notification area) does (still) have the behavior as I expect. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable
#10 I can't understand how this isn't intentional, it was purposely removed before 12.04 was released, but there was a workaround to get it back in the menu, now oddly the ability to use that workaround has also been removed. Windows 8 also by default removes the hibernate option, but it is simple to add back. As Sergio says, suspend is also problematic, I have lost count of the amount of times I have opened my bag to find my laptop has awakened from suspend in my bag and toasted away, not to mention the times when it flatly refuses to suspend at all and just resumes before I get out of my seat. Forcing me to either close down every application, make sure everything is saved and then shutdown, or hibernate. Then there is also the all too frequent problems of Compiz hanging or crashing when resuming from suspend, forcing a hard reset. Not to mention the problem Sergio points out of the device inexplicably losing power whilst in suspend mode. I've always found suspend a far riskier option than hibernate. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-session in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 968533] Re: Alt-tab to Firefox sends Firefox to 100% CPU; unity-panel-service to 80% CPU and hud-service to 20-80% CPU
13.10 newly installed and I am seeing this issue too, I didn't have it previously. If I leave Firefox and then come back firefox, hud-service and unity-panel service are maxed out, Firefox is unusable for several seconds. This also occurs when using Firefox although to a lesser degree i.e. scrolling sometimes lags, switching between tabs takes a few seconds and the page can become unresponsive. I've been using Firefox since 2004 so I also have a lot of bookmarks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Just to confirm what jdstrand has already said disabling Add-ons and running in safe mode makes no difference. I had to follow his advice regarding 'ui.use_unity_menubar = false' in order to stop this behaviour and gain back some battery life as a laptop with a browser that uses 100% CPU every few seconds doesn't last long. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD
Please bring back this functionality. Intergrating options across several applications was *the* benefit of the HUD. If I want to choose from the options of the currently focused applications, I can simply select the preferences menu. What made the HUD unique was that it showed options from several applications at the same time. If you chose to change this and show only options from the current application, there is nothing left that the HUD can do over what the application already can. Why do you kill one of the most innovative inventions ubuntu created since long? Now the HUD is no more than an application menu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1234458] Re: Indicator stuck on mouse icon, along with estimating...
After a little research, here's what I think is going on: The power level information from Logitech mice (using HID++) has very low resolution, as can be seen in hidpp-device.c from the upower package: Power level will always be reported as one of [5, 20, 55, 90]. Power drain rate (in watts) is not reported, so I assume the power indicator is trying to figure out how long the battery will last just by taking the differential of the power level. Since this never changes (until it drops by a whole level), the estimate is always infinity. The solution should be to modify the estimation algorithm so that if it fails to estimate within 1 minute or so, it just reports the power rate (55% in your case). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-power in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1234458 Title: Indicator stuck on mouse icon, along with estimating... pq, I didn't test on a 32-bit OS either because I don't have one. I should have eyeballed that in any case. Message #65 does not cover the x86 case. I am using the patch in message #5 instead (no conditional code). This is fine because the script exits in a non-XFCE case ahead of time. Please see the included READ-ME file. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1148033] Re: GDBus.Error:org.openobex:Error.Failed: Unable to request session
I have the same bug in newly installed ubuntu 13.10 (clean install). There was a problem with even pairing my Galaxy SII phone with my Dell Latitude E4300. When I tried to pair it via the phone, it did, but I couldn't send or receive files from and to any of the devices. But when I tried to pair it via my laptop, it wouldn't even pair. Just the message that it failed. Also in both cases no request or message was seen on any device. I managed to pair it, however, trying to do it on both devices simultaneously. And then the message appears on both devices. I still wasn't able to send or receive files because the connection was off according to my laptop. However, I found a workaround for this too - you have to establish the connection, e.g. try to connect from the phone (it establishes the connection for a few seconds) and while it's on, send the file(s). It works then. I only tried it with a small picture though. I hope it helps someone who needs it. Previously, in ubuntu 12.04, I was able to use it with my previous phone (SE G502) but only through browse files on the device or sending files, it wouldn't receive files. Anyway, it would be nice to be able to use bluetooth without any problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1148033 Title: GDBus.Error:org.openobex:Error.Failed: Unable to request session Status in Bluetooth Menu: New Status in “gnome-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in “indicator-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: I'm using 13.04 and i can't send file from my netbook to my phone via bluetooth. [Dx-packages] [Bug 968533] Re: Alt-tab to Firefox sends Firefox to 100% CPU; unity-panel-service to 80% CPU and hud-service to 20-80% CPU
@paultait22 I agree that the problems are almost certainly related, but for bug fixing it is important to clarify what version resulted in what variation of the bug so that devs can look at the changes between versions and figure out where things went from bad to worse. Most developers don't have time to read the comments and aggregate all the knowledge they contain. Typically they read the initial bug report, briefly scan the comments for clues, then declare the bug fixed as long as the initial problem is solved. Since your problem has one additional condition, it is worth making a separate bug report that ALSO mentions this bug report. Hopefully in the future launchpad will offer an option for adding bug variations so that a single report can house all the very similar but non-identical bugs under one roof. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1208204] Re: indicator-sound no longer functions with xfce4-indicator-plugin
I am on Lubuntu 13.10 64bit. Now Lubuntu doesn't come with indiactor- volume by default, but as the default volume applet sucks so I installed it with indicator-volume-gtk, turned it on in the indicator settings, and I got the same error. It didn't work till I did the fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-sound in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable
on a related note, to Sergio and anyone with heavy suspend battery use -- the not-actually-hybrid-suspend-mode is actually better than real- hybrid-suspend, and is easy to make work: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/11 /how-to-use-hybrid-suspend-in-ubuntu.html. It works in 13.10 regardless of the missing hibernate from indicator- session issue of this thread. I would consider it the best workaround for this bug in fact. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-session in Ubuntu. Now the hibernate option is missing. I followed the instructions on how to reenable hibernate (https://help.ubuntu.com/13.10/ubuntu-help/power-hibernate.html) but the option is still missing.
