[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244237] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 Unity desktop background smears when dragging windows

2013-11-14 Thread kailoran
I have a similar-looking problem after some update in Ubuntu 12.10,
persisting after an upgrade to 13.04. Reproduces on 3.8.0-33, 3.5.0-43,
3.5.0-40 and 3.5.0-40, so it might be not directly related to the kernel
version.

I'm also on an AMD card, Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Caicos
[Radeon HD 6450], and fglrx.

Title:
Ubuntu 13.04 Unity desktop background smears when dragging windows

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In the last week I have found that my desktop background is not
refreshed when I drag windows across the screen. This also happens
when windows are minimised or closed. It is especially noticeable when
compiz animations are used as the window shrink/blur remains on areas
of the screen where only the background shows. It has been reported on
AskUbuntu with the title of 'Unity desktop smears (doesn't refresh)
and shows no wallpaper' and one contributor says it doesn't happen
with Cinnamon (though their post was deleted as not being an answer,
as was mine). My wallpaper does not show either, even after I changed
  it, and it used to.

My hardware it AMD A10-5700 with 7660D graphics on Ubuntu 13.04 with
latest updates. I am using the fglrx-updates driver.

Others (on AskUbuntu) tried different graphics drivers but it didn't
help. I have not tried with 13.10.

  Screen shot attached.

  Thanks.

Strange... I booted the live CD (pen drive, actually), and this feature worked

Does this bug occur in a fresh install?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1223933] Re: sometimes the dash home list no result matching your query string

2013-11-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Not sure if that's the same issue (let me know if it's not, I can open a
new report)

Today I wanted to test how the dash behaves when not using only source,
I did change the 'remote-content-search' key to 'none'

Using the dash a bit I'm in a situation where the home scope doesn't
search for files anymore, despite having files.scope in the gsettings
'always-search' key ...

(it seems to work when I change the remote key back)

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1251219] [NEW] Calendar flickers when changing date

2013-11-14 Thread Oliver Sauder
Public bug reported:

Issue:
When changing the day, month or year in the calendar, after a second it
flickers once. Seems like that the menu closes and reopens again very quickly.

Steps to reproduce:
* open calendar
* e..g. change month from November to December
* wait a second - datetime menu flickers

This seems to be an regression as I cannot recall the indicator having
this behavior in 13.04.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 404658] Re: notification summary doesn't change for synchronous messages

2013-11-14 Thread Ara Pulido
mpt's comment (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/notify-
osd/+bug/404658/comments/2) says that None of the synchronous
notifications use text, which is true for current notifications, but
looking at the specification (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NotifyOSD) I
haven't found a requirements that Synchronous notification should never
have text. In which case, we need to define a behaviour for sync
notifications that do.

Status in OEM Priority Project precise series:

Bug description:

  Precise SRU info:

  [Impact]

   * The patch provide a fix to provide the x-canonical-private-
synchronous to work with notifications different with
  LAYOUT_ICON_INDICATOR layout. Currently the x-canonical-private-
synchronous interface only provide this layout to support brightness
  and volume control.

  [Test Case]

   * This patch make following command behave correctly.

  #notify-send -h string:x-canonical-private-synchronous:1 wireless
  disable -i notification-network-wireless-none ; sleep 1 ; notify-
  send -h string:x-canonical-private-synchronous:1 bluetooth enable
  -i bluetooth

In current implementation, both Summary and Body text didn't get
  updated.

  [Regression Potential]

   * The risk should be minimal, the patch should only affect x
-canonical-private-synchronous interface. This interface is only used
in brightness and volume hotkey, and layout is different.

   * The patch is already tested in OEM projects.

  [Other Info]

  *** Original bug description:

When you send a notification in Synchronous with another, the both
Summary and Body text doesn't get updated.

  As an example:

  while true; do
  notify-send first title first subtitle -i dialog-info -h
string:x-canonical-private-synchronous:test
  sleep 1
  notify-send second title second subtitle -i dialog-error -h
string:x-canonical-private-synchronous:test
  sleep 1
  done

If you run the above, what you should see is the Icon changing, but the
summary/body text staying the same.
Is this expected behaviour from the libnotify library? Or is this an
overlooked feature?

  Iain

Bug description:
Impact: sometime indicator-session or datetime go missing in unity

Test Case: start sessions until that happens (or not)

Regression potential: the change is a one liner workaround for a glib
lock, shouldn't create issue, just check that those indicators keep
  working as they should

Indicator-datetime is not showing in the indicator bar today on image
  96.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD

problem was not resolved...

Title:
Unable to access indicators from HUD

Status in Ayatana Design:
  Confirmed
Status in Unity HUD:
  Confirmed
Status in “hud” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In Ubuntu 12.10 I was able to use HUD to access Messaging menu and Gwibber's
Update Status option there, making status updates to Twitter easy and fast.
I could also use HUD to change my status in Empathy from Available to Busy
and vice-versa.

In Ubuntu 13.04 Beta HUD no longer finds the Update Status option when
typing Update Status or Update
Also writing Available Away or Busy no longer gives any results.

Other indicators however are accessible and I can use HUD to Suspend
my computer or to view Skype status or Ubuntu one indicator options.

  Repeating:
  1. Press alt key to start HUD
  2. Write Update status or Available

  What was expected:
HUD should have shown options ether from Gwibber to Update Status or Empathy
to change status to Available both available from the messaging indicator.

  What happened:
  HUD didn't find any results.

  Notes:
  I have Ubuntu 13.04 Beta 64bit upgraded from Ubuntu 12.10 64bits and I'm
using proprietary fglrx drivers.

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
After upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10, holding Super no longer brings up
the help overlay. Holding Super worked before upgrading. Tapping the
Super key still brings up the HUD, and holding it down still brings up
the Launcher and after a second or so shows the numbers on the
applications. In Compiz Config Manager, under Ubuntu Unity Plugin -
Launcher, the Key to show the Dash, Launcher and Help Overlay is set
to Super. Under Ubuntu Unity Plugin - General, Enable Shortcut Hints
  Overlay is checked.

The program disappears and is not added to the launcher. However, if
you run the program you can right click it and click lock to Launcher.
However, again, there is no feedback from clicking Lock to Launcher.
You must click out of the launcher and right click the program again
to see that it is locked to the launcher.
