[Dx-packages] [Bug 968533] Re: Alt-tab to Firefox sends Firefox to 100% CPU; unity-panel-service to 80% CPU and hud-service to 20-80% CPU
Same problem here, though it seems it have worsen recently on 13.10 (with Firefox 25?). With 5000 bookmarks, hud-service uses one CPU at 100% all the time, with a complete freeze every-time I switch a tab or firefox's window gets the focus. By using the BookmarkMenuHider add-on to remove the bookmarks from the menu, the CPU usage goes back to 20% the time. This can be a nice workaround for computers with relatively beefy processors. You can find the add-on there: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bookmarkmenuhider Finally, the ui.use_unity_menubar = false fix drops the CPU usage of hud-service below 1%, and Firefox experience is back to butter smooth :-) Of course the drawback is that the menu is gone from the HUD :-( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1256703] [NEW] Shutdown dialog doesn't shutdown automatically after given time
Public bug reported: New shutdown/reboot/logout dialog (transparent UI introduced in 13.04) doesn't proceed after a given time. So after running 'gnome-session-quit --power-off' in a script the user will have to press a button or the system will never shutdown. In old dialog (= 12.10) there was a countdown starting at 60sec which shutdown the system after ran out. This made it possible to shutdown a system automatically from command line without extra user interaction. The dbus method which triggers the dialog indicate that there is such a function: ~$ qdbus org.gnome.Shell /org/gnome/SessionManager/EndSessionDialog [...] method void org.gnome.SessionManager.EndSessionDialog.Open(uint type, uint arg_1, uint max_wait, QListQDBusObjectPath inhibitors) I'd expect 'max_wait' is seconds until proceed shutdown. But it doesn't work. - I know there is an alternative with 'sudo shutdown -h now' and I also know how to make that sudo command password-less. But that would only work on my own system. I need this functionality for a OSS project where I don't want to mess around in users '/etc/sudoers' file. Same problem here using nvidia propitary drivers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246509 Title: Computer Freezes when Fullscreening Application (Snapping to Fullscreen) Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm running Ubuntu 13.10, and about twice a day, when I try to full- screen an application, Unity/Ubuntu partially crashes. I am trying to full screen the application by dragging the window to the top of the screen, something I do many, many times a day. I expect for the animation to finish, and the window that I'm dragging to pop into full-screen mode, where it takes the entire window. Instead, the animation hangs half-way before I release the mouse (while I'm still dragging), and the computer partially hangs. The mouse still will move, but doesn't have any effect on the desktop. I _am_ able to Control-alt [1-6] to get into an alternative terminal, and I can execute most commands, however trying to logout of Ubuntu from the terminal or kill Unity has no effect, the graphics remain frozen on the screen. I don't know any more debugging actions to take, I'd be happy to submit more if someone had an idea of which diagnostics/logs I should run or look at. [Dx-packages] [Bug 618587]
Yes another Ubuntu bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/1208019 It looks like the Ubuntu global menu is too buggy/limited to play nicely with Eclipse in some circumstances. So the workaround is to not use it. However, this will cause an issue with GTK3 implementation in Ubuntu: bug 417601 Ubuntu is definitely not standard-friendly enough to guarantee perfect integration with Eclipse. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to libdbusmenu in Ubuntu.
