[Dx-packages] [Bug 1242633] Re: unity pointer barriers sru bug
Hello Maarten, or anyone else affected, Accepted x11proto-input into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/x11proto- input/2.3-1~precise1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Dx-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled
Daniel, the logs look fine; can you please add a corresponding system D-BUS debug log? (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingDBus) I need to know if the PrepareForSleep false gets sent properly. Also, you are using hybrid suspend, which hasn't been tested at all. Can you check if this bug also happens for a standard suspend for you? I. e. does the hybrid part make a difference or not? Thanks! (The remainder of this bug is far from triaged -- it's absolutely unclear what breaks on the machines that are still affected) ** Changed in: systemd-shim (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to systemd-shim in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1252121 Title: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled Status in “systemd-shim” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “systemd-shim” source package in Saucy: Fix Committed Status in “systemd-shim” source package in Trusty: Incomplete Bug description: As per request from bug #1184262, this is a new report, along with dbus (to be attached) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: systemd-services 204-0ubuntu19 Uname: Linux 3.12.0-custom x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Nov 17 20:24:41 2013 MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: systemd UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-17 (31 days ago) SRU INFORMATION: FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty already) Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known regressions. TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected to fix all cases. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1197213] Re: Heads up display does not work in 13.10
I have the same problem. HUD totally useless now. Since HUD is a critcal part of Unity this is really anoying. Please fix this asap! I am using Ubuntu 13.10 64bit and Compiz rotating cube. I have tried the Unity reset described above at Felipe, but it did not help. While you are at it: is it possible to enhance the launcher buttons management? It would be great to be able to modify properties of buttons through right clicking on them. I would like to be able to change button properties like: icon file, full path of program launched, etc. Now I modify those properties by editting the .desktop files in ~/.local/share/applications/. Right clicking on a button would be so much easier! [Dx-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled
@pitti Ok, I have setup the dbus monitor (any filter suggestions?), tee'ing to a logfile. I have then suspended and resumed (after a minute maybe), and there's no PrepareForSleep=false in the log, only: signal sender=:1.3 - dest=(null destination) serial=1076 path=/org/freedesktop/login1; interface=org.freedesktop.login1.Manager; member=PrepareForSleep boolean true The network also did not came up after resuming. Is it safe/wise to post the dbus-monitor log unfiltered puclicitly, or can I send it directly to you? [Dx-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled
With the normal suspend methd, PrepareForSleep=false showed up now (and the network came up again), (together with PrepareForSleep=true): signal sender=:1.3 - dest=(null destination) serial=1094 path=/org/freedesktop/login1; interface=org.freedesktop.login1.Manager; member=PrepareForSleep boolean false However, it usually requires a suspend cycle over night to trigger this bug anyway - so I will report back tomorrow. Re: [Dx-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled
Daniel Hahler [2013-12-19 13:24 -]: With the normal suspend methd, PrepareForSleep=false showed up now (and the network came up again), (together with PrepareForSleep=true): Interesting. To the other affected people: are you using hybrid suspend or the simple (RAM only) suspend? Where is the PrepareForSleep=false signal emitted That comes from logind, which is the component which provides the Suspend() API for the desktop. It should send PrepareForSleep true, then it will wait until apps which registered a suspend inhibitor are done with their pre-suspend actions, then do the actual suspend, and after resume send the PrepareForSleep=false signal so that clients can do their post-suspend actions. Is it something NetworkManager requires to wake up again? Exactly. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1262745] [NEW] Cluttery/repeated playback controls
Public bug reported: Currently the sound indicator shows the playback controls of *each* music/media player associated with it. I think this adds too much clutter, and is possibly a waste of space. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1257505] Re: Create Unity Control Center so can remain on old GNOME Control Center version
I purged the PPA today and reinstalled it again because you asked for it in mailing list. Normally the translations are there for this labels in System settings... All settings Appearance but in unity-control-center I don't see the Polish labels. Also all the labels in Appearance settings still display in English language but normally they are translated. There is one label in Brightness and blocking settings still in English. The rest of the labels display properly in Polish except Text Entry and Backup (which looks different than in 13.10) but that isn't translated normally. The settings for Online Accounts and Privacy finally work but clicking on the latter results in window becoming to wide and it also crashed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-datetime in Ubuntu. Martin, for me this occurs in standard suspend, hybrid suspend and also hibernate. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to systemd-shim in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1252121 Title: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled Status in “systemd-shim” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “systemd-shim” source package in Saucy: Confirmed Status in “systemd-shim” source package in Trusty: Incomplete Bug description: As per request from bug #1184262, this is a new report, along with dbus (to be attached) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: systemd-services 204-0ubuntu19 Uname: Linux 3.12.0-custom x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Nov 17 20:24:41 2013 MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: systemd UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-17 (31 days ago) SRU INFORMATION: FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty already) Regression potential: Low. But it should not make things worse, so if network now does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked this would count as failure/regression. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1253693] Re: top status bar missing shutdown button, clock, sound icon and more on upgrade to 13.10
I'm getting closer. I found that unity-panel-service wasn't running. However, I can run it in a terminal window and it works. That is, I get the date, time, sound and gear icons in the top status bar. E.g. /usr/lib/unity/unity-panel-service A number of warning messages are displayed: ** (unity-panel-service:7216): WARNING **: Unable to support GtkImageType: 0 ** (unity-panel-service:7216): WARNING **: Unable to support GtkImageType: 0 (unity-panel-service:7216): IDO-WARNING **: Can't load user avatar icon: Error opening file: No such file or directory (unity-panel-service:7216): IDO-WARNING **: Can't load user avatar icon: Error opening file: No such file or directory (unity-panel-service:7216): IDO-WARNING **: Can't load user avatar icon: Error opening file: No such file or directory But if I log out and log in again, still no sound, date/time, gear icons. I have to manually re-run unity-panel-service. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-datetime in Ubuntu. Every time I login, without fail, the top status bar is missing the gear icon for shutdown, the date, the sound icon and some others. The icons do show from the login window. So if I let the session time out so that the screen locks, I the gear icon appears in the top status bar and works. I have also added a new user to see if the issue has something to do with my account. The new user also has an empty top status bar. The issue happens for both dual monitor and single monitor configurations. When the second monitor is connected, setting launcher placement to all displays does not solve the problem. Neither does mirroring the displays. Everything worked just fine with 13.04. The problem appeared immediately following upgrade to 13.10. mark@mark-desktop:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 13.10 Release: 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-datetime/+bug/1253693/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1242633] Re: unity pointer barriers sru bug
Hello Maarten, or anyone else affected, Accepted qt4-x11 into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt4-x11/4:4.8.1-0ubuntu4.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
