On my beefy machine (i7, 8G of rams), the preview for an application takes 3/4s to show, you can't do anything meanwhile as there is no button to launch the application (because you didn't double click, just left click and thought "argh, I should have double click"). Because of this, we are making the 1st landing of 100 scopes experience bad and we should fix it (at least, in that applicatoin lens) by either preloading the software-center-dbus (/usr/share /software-center/software-center-dbus) daemon (we can't have it always running as it's taking over 100MB of memory) when hovering an app lens result, or when it's the first result (so can be directly triggered by pressing [Enter]) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-center/+bug/1192081/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Even stuff like "quit" or "about libreoffice". Using the keyboard shortcuts to access the items works though and it's possible to open sub-menus but nothing in them is clickable. This happens with several other apps like Gnome Terminal, Sublime Text (3 party package) and shotwell. The imagage viewer has the first menu working but not the other. Firefox seems to work. The single menu of nautilius works too. I found a smiliar bug against Libreoffice but maybe it's a different problem. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73794 See the attatched screenshot. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1273005] Re: Unity could use "export UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1" option in low hardware or VM
- Development releases are mostly tested under Virtual Machines. - Ubuntu Virtual Machines doesn't work well in most machines. - So this bug renders the ability of properly testing Ubuntu broken for most users. - So this has a great impact in overall Ubuntu quality; making bugs to be discovered when installing the final release, instead when testing a development one under a Virtual machine. Because this bug is estimated to have a moderate impact on a large portion of Ubuntu users, it has a priority of "high". ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Triaged ** Also affects: unity Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: unity Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Even in a new hardware, with core i7 for example, it is slow with Unity, if it uses Intel graphics onboard. There is a simple workaround, put "export UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1" in .xprofile, in your home. If the hardware is weak, ubuntu could run Unity with this option. This greatly improves performance. "Linux for human beings", so, only for human that have new and top hardware? I know a lot of people that have a modest hardware (here in Brazil is common to have a hardware from 3 or more years ago). Yeah, i know that there are xubuntu and lubuntu, but people normally knows Ubuntu, not others flavors. And as i said before, Unity is slow in new hardware too (if you don't have a nvidia or amd graphic card installed...). [Dx-packages] [Bug 1276072] Re: Language selection always falls back to English
Well, the point is not to make it hard for myself (it's not so hard), but for anybody else who would like to login (this is my lab's recommendation). You say "It should be the user language", but it can't be, not before I select a user (or enter a login, and I mean the login only, not the password). And definitely no, it won't help to disable the language selector: I won't be able to correct accountsservice's wrong selection of the language. I will try a few connections with the users list and without the language selector, but I would be *very* surprised if it changes anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to accountsservice in Ubuntu. Moreover, each time I set it back to French, dragging both French (France and Canada) and some English (UK & US) on top of the default English in the language selection list, default English comes back on top at next login. I even tried to modify my .pam_environment (in console mode) and the /etc/environment to set fr_FR as the default, no way: gnome-language- selector seems to force default English as default at each connection! [Dx-packages] [Bug 1278076] [NEW] Chromium incognito window: Option 'Allow in incognito' for extensions doesn't work at start
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS chromium-browser Version 32.0.1700.102-0ubuntu0.12.04.1~20140128.864.1 I have two extensions installed ("Adblock Plus" and "Tabs to the front"). For both extensions I enabled the option "Allow in incognito" (see screenshot) (Instruction see https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/187443?hl=en -> Adjust extension options). When I open chromium by using the Quicklist-entry "New window in Incognito mode", both extensions are *disabled* although, the checkboxes for the option "Allow in incognito" are selected. I have to deselect and once again select the checkboxes to make both extensions work. Background information: When I first start with a regular windows of Chromium and afterwards start an Incognito window simultaneously, the extensions are enabled in the Incognito window as they should be.
