[Dx-packages] [Bug 1130241] Re: maximized windows move workspaces when screen size changes
Confirmed in 13.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1130241 Title: maximized windows move workspaces when screen size changes Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I use my laptop in two setups: by itself with its 1440x900 built-in panel, and docked/closed using an external 2560x1440 monitor only. (So only one active screen in both cases) I use multiple unity workspaces, with (for example) a maximized browser window in the top right workspace and a emacs maximized in the lower left workspace. I find that if I suspend while docked and then resume after undocking (so I am switching from 2560x1440 - 1440x900 screen), everything mostly works except that my maximized windows unpredictably change workspaces; I might end up with the browser and emacs stacked on top of each other after this transition. It seems that a sensible heuristic would be that if I maximized a window in a particular workspace, then the window should stay maximized in the same workspace after a screen size transition. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1095854] Re: auto-hide launcher not-reappearing consistently
Same issue in 13.10 Amd64 version. Sensitivity at highest I either have to quickly bump the cursor on the left margin or rub the cursor against left margin. It rarely shows only when moving the cursor at the left margin of the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095854 Title: auto-hide launcher not-reappearing consistently Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10, and again on the development build of 13.04, when you set the Unity launcher to auto-hide, it has a very inconsistent tendency to reappear. It seems to only want to return if you quickly slam your cursor against the left side of the screen, as when you slowly move your cursor to the left side it just sits there. Likewise, if you slowly move it to the left side and you keep applying slow-pressure to hopefully get the launcher to return, all that happens is a flickering of shadow along the left edge as if it is trying to return but is stuck. Another thing I have found is that you have to slide the mouse cursor through the left side, rather than just to the left side. If you stop the cursor right at the left side without applying through- force, it will not appear. I dont know if the code requires a certain amount of force or speed to get the launcher to re-show, but it is very un-fluid. It would be nice if work was done to make the re-emmerging of the launcher fluid and consistently perfect. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1282518] [NEW] Hotkey assignment for Next Source under Text Entry Settings deactivates at startup
Public bug reported: When I originally upgraded to Saucy, I encountered the same bug many reported with using modifier-only combinations to switch keyboard layout (but 1218322?). Thankfully, that was swiftly resolved with suggested updates (I didn't employ any special ppa solution back then, but rather temporarily used a combination I wasn't used to). However, lately I've noted that whenever I restart Ubuntu my designated combination of ALT+SHIFT L stops working to switch layout. It's still listed as the combination in Text Entry Settings Switch to next source and in Settings Keyboard Shortcuts Typing Switch to next source, but it doesn't work. However, if I use either console to designate a new combination (doesn't matter which), then return to ALT+SHIFT L, it works again (for the duration of my session). This bug is unrelated to modifier-only combination: the same behavior is exhibited when I choose ALT+= for my combination (on new session, combination is still listed, but doesn't work until it is reset). However, this *doesn't* happen when I use 3-key-combinations like ALT+SHIFT+Q or ALT+SHIFT++. To be clear: this is a relatively new bug (last month, for sure). I was happily using ALT+SHIFT L for some time now. To replicate this bug: 1. Go into Text Entry settings. 2. Click on the combination for Switch to next source, hold ALT then click and release =. 3. Log out, log back in. 4. Hit ALT+=. The layout should change to the next source, but (for me, at least) it doesn't. Steps to reproduce this bug: Change the size of icons in the Unity launcher through the appearance settings. If the size is set to an ODD number of pixels then the counters and progress bars that are used by some applications in the launcher are blurred. When the size is set to an EVEN number then there is no problem. See attached screenshots Obviously its not really much of an issue as what's one pixel between friends, you can just pick an even value, but perhaps it would look better to just restrict the values to even numbers? Re: [Dx-packages] [Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity Global Menu
Nice, but the menus keep vanishing. This doesn't really solve one of the most controversial issues. There must be a way to have the menus permanently visible. Many (myself included) would rather have the window title vanishing, making it visible when hovering over windows buttons or the empty area to the right of the menu, for instance. Otherwise, very nice indeed. 2014-02-20 23:33 GMT+01:00 TomasHnyk tomash...@gmail.com: Is not it this: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/02/locally-integrated- menus-ubuntu-14-04?utm_source=rssutm_medium=rssutm_campaign=locally- integrated-menus-ubuntu-14-04utm_reader=feedly -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682788 Title: Improve Unity Global Menu Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Committed Status in Compiz: Invalid Status in Unity: Fix Committed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “unity-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in Baltix GNU/Linux: Confirmed Bug description: ===+++ _ ! Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682788 Title: Improve Unity Global Menu Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Committed Status in Compiz: Invalid Status in Unity: Fix Committed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “unity-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in Baltix GNU/Linux: Confirmed Bug description: ===+++ _ ! ALL USERS ! _ +++=== ===+++ READ THIS BEFORE MAKING A COMMENT OR MODIFICATION +++=== IMPORTANT 1: Please don't post any me too message; use the Does this bug affect you? feature you can find a bit above this bug description on Launchpad. IMPORTANT 2: Do not post anything if you haven't read all comments to verify that your point hasn't been made. If you feel tempted to stop reading because there are too many messages, that is a strong indicator that you shouldn't add even more comments. Developers have a tough time to find anything if you post redundant stuff. So please abstain from doing that. = Global menu in general (not only in Unity) is very unergonomic on large screens (see the attached screenshot) because if you have a small window somewhere near the low right corner you have to move the cursor all the way up to to panel to reach the menu. I understand why the global menu was used for the netbook edition (it saves space and most windows are maximized), but since Unity is intended to be for the desktop edition there should be an option to switch to the traditional position of the app menu. It would be welcomed by many desktop users. Please try to find a solution for it that works. A commonly suggested solution is: [ ] Global Menu on [ ] Global Menu off [ ] Global Menu only for maximized windows The default is usually suggested as either the first (on) or last (on only for maximized windows). - Desired change: Implement the 'Enhanced Menu' project for 12.10. This project will address the issue described in this bug and also issues described in the duplicates of this bus. Note this is the 'official' bug that tracks the implementation of this project. The following options will be added to 'System Settings/Appearance': --- Menus Location:Global/Local Visibility: Hidden/Always displayed --- To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/682788/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1160608] Re: launcher greyed out

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1059374] Re: Using Adwaita, many widgets are drawn with a solid black background
This problem happens not only with the adwaita theme. Almost every recent theme I get has this problem with the overlay scrollbar. Also tested with Ubuntu 14.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to overlay-scrollbar in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1059374 Title: Using Adwaita, many widgets are drawn with a solid black background Status in GTK+ GUI Toolkit: Fix Released Status in Overlay Scrollbar: Confirmed Status in “gnome-themes-standard” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “gtk+3.0” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “overlay-scrollbar” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: When I use the Adwaita theme, some widgets end up being drawn with a black background after particular interactions. Here are two examples: If I open gedit, by default I see a new black document. The notebook widget is visible, and rendered correctly. As soon as I open another document (no matter if I close the existing one first), the entire widget starts being drawn with a black background. If I open System Settings, then click the (Ubuntu) Online Accounts panel, the box with the Remove account button has a solid black background. If, instead, I open Online Accounts directly from its launcher (run gnome-control-center credentials), everything is rendered correctly: there are no solid black backgrounds until I click All Settings and select the Online Accounts panel again. This has been happening consistently on two very different machines, both updated to Quantal from 12.04 using the upgrade tool.
