Any system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when selected non-latin keyboard layout. Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works perfectly. Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system parameters-keyboard-hotkeys-windows works perfect with any keyboard layout. Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non- latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with english layout. If you use english and two different non-latin layouts this workaround helps only with one of them. -- For other layout switching problems introduced in Ubuntu 13.10 you can see bug 1218322. -- To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/1226962/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Also, the menu is visually unbalanced in languages with longer strings (making the menu wider), because the playback controls are hardcoded with a ~100px left margin. The fix for this bug makes the font size a bit smaller, according to the design spec for the sound menu. It also makes sure that labels with a width of about 25 characters are always shown in full, independent of the font size. The playback controls are centered. [Test Case] Play a song in Rhythmbox that has an track name (or artist or album name) that is longer than about 20 characters. Open the sound menu and see that the long label is ellpsized. [Regression Potential] If the fix to this bug is faulty, it might lead to weird menu sizes (too small or too large). The playback controls used hard-coded coordinates for drawing and hit detection. Rendering or selection bugs might occur. [Original Description] When looking at the currently running track in SoundMenu (clementine music player), the space for the title of the track and album are too small, because the album art is directly next to it. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1080076] Re: Music titles in SoundMenu too small
This would be a UI change, which pre-release would need a UI freeze exception. It's not a string change, which would affect translations, but I'm not sure to what extent we care about making documentation screenshots inconsistent. I'll take this up with the rest of Ubuntu SRU. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to ido in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1307657] Re: UBUNTU_MENUPROXY should not be set in Xfce

Xfce now has support for gtk3 indicators launched by upstart, but indicator-appmenu is totally broken - it will constantly crash the panel and applications. Xfce has a mechanism to hide indicators, and then the frontend UI will not be loaded in the panel, but it seems that UBUNTU_MENUPROXY is still being set in Xfce, which causes menus to disappear from applications, even though nothing is available to receive them. I discussed this with tedg and he suggested that the problem may be to do with the upstart service which sets UBUNTU_MENUPROXY, ie /usr/share/upstart/sessions/unity-gtk-module.conf We may in future get the appmenus working in Xfce, and then we would need some way to turn the menuproxy on and off depending on the user configuration. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1080076] Re: Music titles in SoundMenu too small
@Chris: thanks for considering that SRU! Some cycles ago we had discussions about the difference between UI changes and fixes (mostly when Unity was still changing late in the cycle). I think the agreement was that small tweaks to things like margins, alignments, colors are bugfixes. We don't need to documentation to match the UI at the pixel, but we need things to be structured the same so the documentation make sense (e.g if controls are moved, added, removed, etc that outdate the instructions and is an UI freeze exception topic) Does that make sense? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to ido in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 674138] Re: Global appmenu breaks sloppy focus
Now that in 14.04 the menu can be again on the top of the windows, this bug becomes more important. With Focus-follow-mouse activated, it is not possible to rename/delete desktop elements if the desktop is not completely free. (Millions of linux users use focus follow mouse in their everyday work) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/674138 Title: Global appmenu breaks sloppy focus Status in Unity: Won't Fix Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: An option I heavily use in GNOME 2.x is so called sloppy focus or focus follows mouse (ffm). This feature allows me to have multiple windows overlapping and easily switch between them by 'nudging' the mouse over the window I wish to type in. I do not bring the window to the front. Example scenarios * Whilst watching a TV programme in a large window, I wish to microblog about the TV programme to my followers without distracting myself from the programme. I can hover the mouse over twitter client dialog box without it obscuring the video window. * I am working on a document and need input from a co-worker so I get them on IM. As they explain in the IM window I can be typing in the document window. When I need to acknowledge receipt of the IM I can easily switch to the IM window without losing sight of my document. As I understand it, with global appmenu enabled the menu for a window is placed at the top of the screen and changes as the window focus changes. If I am using focus follows mouse and wish to select a menu item for Window A, then as the mouse moves over Window B en-route to the menu, the menu content will change, making it challenging to select menu options for WIndow A. Under certain circumstances it may be possible to take a circuitous route to get the mouse to the appmenu so the menu content doesn't change, but this is suboptimal. I would like to file a bug to petition for the inclusion of a system whereby:- * Focus follows mouse feature is included in Unity * A system which caters for users of focus follows mouse, and suppresses the sub-optimal behaviour. My personal suggestion is as follows:- * By default Unity be setup with ffm disabled, to use the traditional behaviour as default in current GNOME 2 * An option made available to enable ffm * An option made available to configure a key which can suppress the menu change * Behaviour adopted in Unity whereby when the modifier key is pressed, the user can throw the mouse to the menu and know that the menu will be frozen (i.e. focus changes will be ignored) until the modifier key is released. Whilst I appreciate that the vast majority of users do not use sloppy focus, or indeed many don't even know it exists, for those of us that do, it's an integral way in which the desktop is used. Yes, I am use Unity. I have autologon on boot (for ) and during work several times per day I lock my computer or it's locked after idle time. This issue happens several times per day, so now I just turn off autolock on idle and dont lock my computer manually. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock
Just noticed: sometimes (if the problem occurs) I see the screen I've posted after locking the screen (ctrl-alt-l). If I don't touch the keyboard and mouse the screen fades into black and after some seconds I see the login screen presented with full bright again where I can unlock the session. I don't know too well the new features of the unity desktop, but I guess the first (problematic) screen may be the unity- locker and only that have the problem. Moreover, it's kinda strange for me that I lock my computer (notebook) so I expect that it should save power to turn off display, fade to black etc, but after it happens I get the login screen where I can unlock my session but it's not faded etc. I try to adjust settings in gnome control center and unity control center (I am not sure they are some or not) but I couldn't figure out what settings affect these exactly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1131385] Re: Always on top prevents application spread from working
Focus method mentioned in comment #8 should be in line 418 namely the two variables active and scaleWasActive are false. A window which set as Always on Top make wm.IsWindowOnTop(xid) return false, and this make any_on_top keep false. Finally active will be set as false. More information: if there are two windows set as Always onTop, this bug could be reproduced. This is because wm.IsWindowOnTop could not make any_on_top be true, nor would make active true. NEXT: why does wm.IsWindowOnTop(xid) return false when the window is set as Always on Top -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. This is a bug and needs to be changed, because it does not consider minimized windows and therefore prevents switching to those windows. If you have windows of the same application open, some of them minimized and ALL non-minimized windows are marked as Always on top, the application spread does not work anymore, clicking the launcher does nothing. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1080076] Re: Music titles in SoundMenu too small
I'm with Seb on this one (and I think I was involved in the discussions he's alluding to about Unity alignment and colour fixes). This is a real usability issue and, frankly, if there are screenshots documenting the current behaviour, they're ugly and we don't want them anyway. :P I'm all for a hearty +1 on this, as long as the people testing it throw a rather varied playlist at it, with and without album art, and with varying title/artist lengths, to make sure it doesn't suffer any weird rendering regressions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to ido in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1080076 Title: Music titles in SoundMenu too small Status in elementary OS: Invalid Status in Indicator Display Objects: In Progress Status in “ido” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in “ido” source package in Trusty: New Bug description: [Impact] The artist/title/album labels in the sound menu are often hard to read because they get ellipsized fairly quickly (i.e., for relatively short labels). Both titles are truncated and thus almost unreadable, when longer than about 10 characters. Is it possible to put the album artwork in a different column? Or make the SoundMenu wider? [Dx-packages] [Bug 1312342] [NEW] dual monitor breaks when not config'd for builtin monitor is to the left of second monitor
Public bug reported: Upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04 on my dual monitor system. System consists of a system76 laptop (built in monitor is 1920x1080 resolution) and an external monitor (ASUS 1920x1080 resolution). Prior to the upgrade, the monitors were configured with the ASUS monitor above the laptop monitor. After the upgrade, the monitor configuration reverted to be configured with the laptop on the left (ASUS on the right). When I use the Settings-Display tool to move the monitors to the previous configuration, it is no longer possible to move windows between the monitors or to move the cursor between the monitors. This did work fine previously, so is a regression. I have tried several other configurations, and none seem to work other than the default. One other note, I use synergy to provide keyboard and mouse from my desktop system (i.e., the laptop is the client). This works fine, but since it does affect the mouse thought worth mentioning in case there was some interaction from that involved. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. This works fine, but since it does affect the mouse thought worth mentioning in case there was some interaction from that involved. However, there is an issue if you try the following: Bookmark Total Body Workout 4 (url = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6olejYe6bU ) Open the HUD with the ALT key and type Tot You can see the entry (provided you dont have so many other matches that it doesn't make the list) Continue to type Total The entry disappears and there are no results. The HUD needs some attention. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1169054] Re: Disabling then Re-Enabling login without password does remove user from nopasswdlogin group
After additional research, I realized that this bug is invalid against accountsservice. Instead, the bug is in Unity-Control-Center, which fails to change the login mode when locking an account. A user who is already in the nopasswordlogin group, therefore, will not be dropped from the nopasswordlogin group when the account is locked.
