Obviously, tapping the Prt Sc key would not work, (Most likely because I have to keep the Alt key pressed, to keep the the Application Switcher visible). So I used the gnome-screenshot app. This is what I did, and steps to reproduce the problem. - Kept the default selection (Grab the whole screen), and set a delay of 3 seconds. - Press take screenshot - Press Alt-Tab and keep the Alt button pressed while waiting for the screenshot to be taken - I might be wrong here but this bug only happens when the activated window after taking the screenshot is maximized. - When the screenshot is taken, the window will appear which shows the screenshot. - Release the Alt key. - At this point, Unity will be somewhat broken. * Pressing the Super key will no longer show the dashboard. * Pressing Alt-Tab doesn't show the Application switcher. To fix it, I keep middle clicking with the mouse on the top bar to bring the current window to the background. Until I reach the Screenshot. After I close it, everything is turned back to normal. I'm not sure if this is a bug in Unity or in Gnome Screenshot, but since it only occurs with me while using the gnome-screenshot package, I filed the bug here. - Ubuntu 13.10 gnome-screenshot 3.8.2-0ubuntu1 Maybe it is relevant unity: 7.1.2+13.10.20131014.1-0ubuntu1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: gnome-screenshot 3.8.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-19.33-generic 3.11.10.5 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-19-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Apr 17 14:22:52 2014 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-screenshot InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-07-14 (641 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release amd64 (20120425) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: gnome-screenshot UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-19 (180 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1308985/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1307701] Re: Unity does not get touch events when QML apps running
One thing that smells fishy is that the qml app starts getting touch events even before compiz/unity7. I think that this should not happen as the qml app does not subscribe for ownership events (unlike compiz/unity7) and ownership is offered to compiz/unity7. So the qml app should only get touch events once compiz/unity7 rejects ownership of the touch sequence, but that's just not happening (qml app was already receiving events from that touch sequence by that time). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Steps to reproduce: - set screen timeout to 1 minute — OR — set no action when closing the laptop lid; - click on an indicator; - wait — OR (according to the first action) — close the laptop lid; - if the screen is off, move the mouse; - you can see open windows and you can issue some commands (I succesfully opened a terminal using ctrl+alt+T); - if the indicator menu is closed, the screen is locked immediately after, but it is just too late. My system is up to date, so the right-click → alt+F2 trick doesn't work anymore, for me. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1316284] [NEW] Load/Unload Cycle Count
Public bug reported: I have a little a bit of a problem with my Ubuntu. My Load/Unload Cycle Count is currently at 92125. The problem is that Load/Unload Cycle Count get higher every time I use my laptop on battery mode. With AC it seems fine, but with battery in a matter of a few minutes (1-2) my Load/Unload Cycle Count gets higer for 3 numbers. I checked it on Windows, and it was at 92117. Then I booted in Ubuntu and the number climed at 92121. I used laptop on AC for 20 minutes and then it was at 92122. Then I unpluged AC, and used my laptop on battery for few minutes and the number was at 92125. Then again on AC for 15 minutes and it was at 92125. So it gets high quickly on battery, very quickly. Also I hear scratching noise of HDD when Ubuntu opens Files, Firefox os something like that. On Windows I almost never hear that, only when doing something hard for HDD. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1316311] [NEW] Unity launcher, top panel, and window titles flicker and disappear when clicking launcher for apps that have more than one instance running on it
Public bug reported: I upgraded my laptop from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04, shortly after the launch, and things were working pretty good. However, after a recent software update, the 14.04 Unity launcher, top panel, and window titles all flicker and disappear, when clicking the launcher for an application that has multiple instances running (multiple left array indicators next to launcher). The first time I click the launcher, the whole desktop flickers, blanks out, then comes back. The second time, everything but window contents disappears. In this case, the window contents are unusable, and I have to restart my laptop. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1316320] [NEW] Screen Lock does not prompt for password
