[Dx-packages] [Bug 1320556] Re: Show copy dialog right click launcher entry doesn't work
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Dx-packages] [Bug 1314587] Re: Windows slow/stall/freeze when minimizing/restoring/etc in Unity 7 14.04
This issue seems to have improved, I presume with package updates since it was first reported. Animations are generally no longer jerky. Soft and hard reboot are generally no longer required. Keyboard Shortcuts appear/disappear smoothly. Remaining problems: * Opening the Dash almost never works. Certainly not the first time or after having other windows have been open for a while. It behaves almost as though we have switch to the Dash pane, but it hasn't been rendered. As a workaround, if I open Dash then trigger Guake, Dash appears (with Guake behind it). * Closing or minimising windows generally works, except for the last window. Closing or minimising the last window fails completely, or starts the minimise animation but then halts. Either way, despite the window remaining visible, it is no longer clickable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. What happens instead: * Action may be slow / animation jerky. * Action may stall (animation frozen on given frame, e.g. window partially minimized) - initiating another action cancels first action and second action may succeed (most often calling Guake with F12 seems to solve the issue) * Action may freeze - cursor no longer moves - a soft reboot (Alt+PrtScr+REISUB) usually works, otherwise a hard reboot Notes: * Not application specific. Minimizing is reliably slow/stalls with minimizing Firefox (including 29, I do not have a lot of bookmarks) or Pidgin, but I use those programs more often. * I am using an Nvidia Optimus machine with the default Nouveau driver - no `nvidia-prime`, no Bumblebee. I temporarily installed the latest stable Nvidia driver (including `nvidia-prime`) and it made no difference. * I did not experience this issue on the same machine running 13.10 (with Bumblebee). * I am running Maximus. Make sure that “Show the menus for a window” parameter (System Settings - Appearance - Behavior) is set to “In the window's title bar”. 2. Start any Qt application, say, one of mentioned above. Let it be, for example, Gwenview. 3. Unmaximize the app window. 4. Activate any dialogue from the main menu. For instance, File - Open... or Settings - Configure Gwenview... 5. Press Cancel to close the dialogue. 6. Hover the mouse pointer over the window title bar. [What is expected] The app menu should appear and be accessible. [What happens] The app menu is not shown. Since no answer has been found, I went elsewhere, in fact to the support people at System76.com There after talking about my problem the gentleman suggested that my problem might be in the /home directory which I had carefully preserved each time an installation was done. So I reunstalled 14.04LTS and changed the name of /home and installed new /home on the SSD PROBLEM FIXED. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1320982] [NEW] amd64 ltsp fat client keyring daemon hangs
Public bug reported: Using Ubuntu 14.04 LTSP amd64 fat client with gnome-keyring 3.10.1-1ubuntu4 When launching something like Google Chrome (Which attempts to utilize the gnome keyring), Creating a 'new' keyring password causes the tool to hang. It also creates thousands of files labeled Default.temp.keyring-#, where the numbers seemed to be a sequence that is being automatically generated. when the daemon tries to create the first(new) keyring from the google chrome initiated prompt, the files are created in the user home folder: ~/.local/share/keyrings/ There were so many temp files that I had to kill the keyring daemon (-start -components=secret) and use 'find . -type f -delete' since the rm command was taking too long attempting to delete so many files. So now I just hit 'cancel' whenever the keyring pops up. However, I would like to get this working for my end users. Here is some information about how the /run folder is mounted and what the environment variables are. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1316978] Re: ubuntu-touch-session needs to be able to start even if the homedir is filled to 100%
I just felt the need to point out that unity8 doesn't really even use HUD any more (as of a week or so ago, the gesture to invoke HUD was disabled). So if HUD failing to load due to DBus failure blocks unity8 startup, we could probably just cut a few more cords in the unty8 codebase to prevent the HUD UI component from attempting to initialise HUD. Either by deleting the UI components, or by ensuring they don't load. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to hud in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316978 Title: ubuntu-touch-session needs to be able to start even if the homedir is filled to 100% Status in Ubuntu CI Services: New Status in “android” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “dbus” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “hud” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “ubuntu-touch-session” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When the ~/phablet tree has media files added to it by the user, it is possible for the storage space to be filled, and consequently for the device not to boot. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1309751] Re: Unity does not properly search everything depending on pattern of previous search.
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1309751 Title: Unity does not properly search everything depending on pattern of previous search. Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have noticed in Unity that sometimes it does not properly search everything. By everything I mean items outside the scope of applications, but also documents, folders, etc. I found this very easy to replicate. 1) Create a LibreOffice document entitled Passwords (aka Passwords.odt) 2) Search for LibreOffice in the dash. Without opening anything, hit the super key to exit the Unity dash. 3) Hit the super key and type passwords. Note that only Passwords and Keys (application) shows up, when you should see Passwords.odt and Passwords and Keys. Now if you repeat steps 2 and 3 again, but this time hit backspace to erase LibreOffice, then type Passwords, you'll see Unity kind of does a fully reset search, thereby digging up other items outside of applications that resemble the search term Passwords. Given that Unity is meant to be the centralized finder of all things, it would make sense if Unity would search for all *local* items with all searches without the need to backspace. Before I figured out that hitting backspace kind of reset the Unity search to find more things outside the applications realm it was wildly confusing with how Unity would seemingly often find the document I wanted but other times only found applications that I didn't want. hexafraction, sure; he locks the screen using the gear - lock menu; he waits until the password prompt is visible; he uses three or four fingers on the touchpad to bring up something very similar to alt-tab or alt+` display of running windows. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu.
