[Dx-packages] [Bug 1315434] Re: Mouse with no time remaining estimate showing in preference to battery being charged

2014-05-21 Thread Jochen Fahrner
ANY sort order does not fit my needs. If I want to see the status of
mice and keyboard batteries, I can click on the indicator and see them
all. What I need to see ALWAYS at a first glance, is the status of my
laptop battery, regardless of discharging, charging or full and on ac.

Title:
Mouse with no time remaining estimate showing in preference to battery
  being charged

Status in “indicator-power” package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
When my laptop battery is in a charging state, but is not fully
charged, I expect it to be displayed in preference to my mouse, which
  has no time remaining estimate.

  The spec here:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Power

  says:

"If anything is discharging, the menu title should represent the
component (not battery, but component) that is estimated to lose power
first. For example, if your notebook battery is estimated to discharge
in 1 hour 47 minutes, and your wireless mouse battery is estimated to
discharge in 27 minutes, the menu title should represent the mouse. "

but there doesn't seem to be any guideline to what happens when a
  battery is being charged.

I suggest the time remaining to charge a battery should be displayed
in preference to the power level in a wireless mouse.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1315434] Re: Mouse with no time remaining estimate showing in preference to battery being charged

2014-05-21 Thread Marc Deslauriers
@mpt:

So currently the algorithm in indicator-power uses the following sort
order:

/* sort devices from most interesting to least interesting on this criteria:
   1. discharging items from least time remaining until most time remaining
   2. discharging items with an unknown time remaining
   3. charging items from most time left to charge to least time left to charge
   4. charging items with an unknown time remaining

Could you confirm it should be this instead?

/* sort devices from most interesting to least interesting on this criteria:

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1321747] Re: Unity lock screen bypassed with debsign password prompt

2014-05-21 Thread Maarten Winter
Hi Seth,

The screen was locked automatically after me being away from the work
station for a couple of minutes.

Unlocking the screen was, as mentioned in the report, a matter of trial and
error which involved pressing some keys (where I noticed nothing appeared in
the password input field even though the caret was blinking in it) and then
pressing enter a couple of times.
I also clicked on the gear/logout icon and then on the password input field for
trial and error, but am not sure if that's what got me out of the bad state.

In the Terminal I was running dpkg, followed by debsign (using GPG, so I
had to provide a password to unlock my key - a different password than
for logging in). Also Pidgin was running, but I'm not sure if that
received keyboard input or not.

Hope that helps, otherwise I'll try to provoke it again tomorrow and try
to narrow it down.

Title:
Unity lock screen bypassed with debsign password prompt

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  1) Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

  2) unity 7.2.0+14.04.20140423-0ubuntu1.2

  3) What I expected to happen:

While the lock screen was active, and trying to type in the password
prompt in the lock screen, my input would be written in that password
  prompt.

  4) What happened instead

I could not see anything being written in the password field in the
lock screen. Only after typing a wrong password two-three times, the
lock screen password field was able to receive input.

Further investigation showed, that the keyboard input instead ended up
in a password prompt debsign spawned while the lock screen was active
  - a place where it under no circumstance should be able to end up
while the lock screen is active.

I'm not able to condense the bug report right now, but it seems quite
serious to me, so I'd rather report it immediately.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1321870] [NEW] mouse clicks displaced

2014-05-21 Thread Saddy
Public bug reported:

"Sometimes" mouse clicks in unity are displaced:
When I click on a specific folder e.g. in nautilus, the folder below is
selected. This also effects thunderbird (so I believe it's independent from the
program). So technically when I click on (x=100px, y=500px), the mouse click is
catched at (100px, 600px) (upper left corrdinates). If I remember correctly
this isn't the case for the unity launcher or the top menu but only for the
rest of the visible area.

I also believe that it startet when I switched apps from the unity
launcher and it stopped when switching more times again.

Title:
Log in not available after lock screen with multi-monitor

Status in Unity:
  Incomplete
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After the screen locks I am unable to log back in because the screen
with the login prompt is black, and the screen on my laptop just shows
  the Ubuntu logo.

Furthermore, if I then unplug the external monitor (in an attempt to
force the log in option to be displayed on the laptop) the laptop
screen then goes black and I can't do anything at all.

I can't reproduce this if I select "lock screen" from the UI, but it
happens reliably if it locks due to inactivity.

  Other info:
  - I am running a fresh install of 14.04
  - I have it set to lock after 5 min of inactivity, and require login after
lock
  - I have an external monitor, configured to be on the left side of the laptop
screen

  Other info:
  - I am running a fresh install of 14.04
  - I have it set to lock after 5 min of inactivity, and require login after
lock
  - I have an external monitor, configured to be on the left side of the laptop
screen

  Other info:
  - I am running a fresh install of 14.04
  - I have it set to lock after 5 min of inactivity, and require login after
lock
  - I have an external monitor, configured to be on the left side of the laptop
screen

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1321705] Re: [systemd] /lib/systemd/system/accounts-daemon.service is unpackaged

2014-05-21 Thread Iain Lane
Thanks Anders - I've instead copied the packaging for this stuff from
Debian, so that we can further reduce the delta. It doesn't seem to
cause any problems on my Upstart system, and I've checked that the file
is installed. I'm not running systemd so I didn't check if it works
there; please reopen if it doesn't.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1321705] [NEW] [systemd] /lib/systemd/system/accounts-daemon.service is unpackaged

2014-05-21 Thread Anders Kaseorg
Public bug reported:

Now that accountsservice is configured with --enable-systemd, a
/lib/systemd/system/accounts-daemon.service gets installed into
debian/tmp, but it is not packaged anywhere. The absence of the file
prevents gdm from starting successfully:

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2014-05-21 Thread Margarita Manterola
I'm having this issue as well. It's not very frequent but it has
happens once in a while.

I have a machine with an NVIDIA card, using proprietary nvidia drivers,
dual monitor display. Since it's not very often, I haven't yet been
able to correlate it with any specific event.

My pam configuration is customized, but I don't believe it's related at
all, since most of the time it works fine.

  Other info:
  - I am running a fresh install of 14.04
  - I have it set to lock after 5 min of inactivity, and require login after
lock
  - I have an external monitor, configured to be on the left side of the laptop
screen

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1299054] Re: resizing loop on high-dpi screen

2014-05-21 Thread Andreas E.
Does nobody else see this issue??
It happens in quite many applications: apport-gtk, bluetooth configuration,
gnome-sudoku, dconf-editor, control center / input methods, a couple of file
save dialogs.
It happens on a new user account as well, so I assume it is not caused by any
configuration files.

  resizing loop on high-dpi screen

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When the global scaling factor is set to 2, some dialogs occasionally
start changing their window size causing very high CPU activity.

This occurs for example in dconf-editor while searching: It appears
dconf-editor tries to adjust the window dimensions to the size of the content
and reduces the window size until it is unusable. This causes very high CPU
activity and freezes the window content.
It also happens when (then) resizing the window width (→) or height (↓)
afterwards, it tries to revert to the previous window size. However, the only
way to resize the window back so that it doesn't reduce its size is by dragging
the window corner (↓→).

This issue happens also in other applications, for example in apport-
dialogs when expanding the collapsed details view.

This does not happen when the global scaling factor is set to 1. It
could be related to the new window resizing method that updates the
  window content.

  org.gnome.desktop.interface.scaling-factor = 2

Title:
indicator-printers not working on Ubuntu 14.04

Status in Print Indicator:
  In Progress
Status in “indicator-printers” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “indicator-printers” source package in Trusty:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  [Impact]
The panel should have a print indicator as long as there are any print jobs
queued or processed. Currently, this indicator never appears, even though
printing works fine.

This is because the service that listens to CUPS fails to register its
D-Bus name (as of revision 68), which results in the panel component
not finding the service. The attached branch fixes this by making the
service register the name the panel expects.

  [Test Case]
Print a document from any application and check whether the print indicator
appears while it is printing.

  [Regression Potential]
Almost none. The print indicator is not working at all right now, and the fix
only touches that indicator.

  [Original Description]
even after lates updates still no printer notifications in the panel . I
checked and the package "indicator-printers" is correctly installed and the
printer prints without problems. But, there is no notification icons on unity
panel. I had no problems at all with 13.10 instead

Title:
Maximized Chrome window moved to other monitor when tab opened from
  different workspace

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have a dual-monitor setup and usually have chrome open and maximized
on the right monitor of workspace 1. If I click on a link in an
application (say an IM chat window) that's on a different workspace, a
new tab will open in Chrome but the whole Chrome window is moved to
the left monitor of workspace 1.

This only happen when the window is maximized. If it is not, it stays
on the same monitor. It also happens with other apps like Firefox,
Chromium... It started happening in 13.04 but did not happen in 12.10.
