[Dx-packages] [Bug 1304434] Re: indicator-printers not working on Ubuntu 14.04
Works here with indicator-printers 0.1.7+14.04.20140527-0ubuntu i386 ** Tags removed: verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-printers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1304434 Title: indicator-printers not working on Ubuntu 14.04 Status in Print Indicator: In Progress Status in “indicator-printers” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “indicator-printers” source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Bug description: [Impact] The panel should have a print indicator as long as there are any print jobs queued or processed. Currently, this indicator never appears, even though printing works fine. This is because the service that listens to CUPS fails to register its D-Bus name (as of revision 68), which results in the panel component not finding the service. The attached branch fixes this by making the service register the name the panel expects. [Test Case] Print a document from any application and check whether the print indicator appears while it is printing. [Regression Potential] Almost none. The print indicator is not working at all right now, and the fix only touches that indicator. [Original Description] even after lates updates still no printer notifications in the panel . I checked and the package indicator-printers is correctly installed and the printer prints without problems. But, there is no notification icons on unity panel. This is not possible with Metacity, Beryl, Compiz or Xfwm. It is unclear to me whether this is a limitation of the window manager or some other part of the system. -- Use Case: Dragging movie/audio files from nautilus to totem. Steps to Reproduce: 1. open totem media player full screen 2. open nautilus full screen 3. browse to media files 4. select some media files (e.g. a movie file) and move it to start a drag and drop operation 5. press Alt+Tab Observations: Nothing happens. Expected Results: Alt+Tab should allow the user to switch tasks and preserve the drag state, so the user can drag files from one application to another. Notes: Drag and drop works if the applications are tiled to the left/right of each other, or if they are windowed so it should work when they are full screen. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1308317] Re: applications in full-screen do not align properly after minimization
I have the same problem. This happens not only on Firefox, but also with other programs (Thunderbird, Musique, Banshee...). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308317 Title: applications in full-screen do not align properly after minimization Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This is a problem with mouse-clicking sections of the firefox window that are unresponsive. I'll try to describe the problem. Firefox is open and set to fullscreen/maximize. You press the minimize button to send Firefox to the launcher. After opening firefox, by clicking on the launcher icon, firefox returns to fullscreen/maximize and appears normal. However, the tabs at the top are unclickable. The mouse button is an I-beam - or text-editing cursor - instead of a pointer when hovering over the tabs. Clicking changes the position of the I-beam in the text url below. This happens without regard to which programs are open, or whether or not anything else is open. This happens 100% of the time. It seems as though the firefox window is adjusting to maximize and leave room for the menubar at the top, but the GUI does not anticipate the menu bar. There is about a 10 pixel discrepancy between where the mouse points, and where it registers. This also occurs with browser, Chromium. This problem does not occur when switching between windows with maximized browsers, only when a browser opened from launcher after being minimized. This video should help shed light on the problem: http://tinypic.com/r/2jfcepi/8 I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 beta. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1317253] Re: UI scaling and font scaling sometime get confused/change at random.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1310316 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310316 I confirm what pabouk said in #8, I did not install unity-tweak-tool until after I had the issue and had re-installed from scratch and encountered the issue for a second time. I have also encountered this issue several times subsequently and had to use unity-tweak-tool to restore the setting. I have a QHD+ screen (3200x1800) so I am scaling the UI up, (1.38), and I find that the fonts become very large when this issue happens and I find that in unity-tweak-tool I see that the size is 2.8x until I reset it. The reset button says that it will restore the value to 1.0, but infact restores it to 1.4 which I assume is because of the 1.38x UI scaling. This is definitely not an issue with unity-tweak-tool... I simply used that tool to restore the desktop to a sane state. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1317253 Title: UI scaling and font scaling sometime get confused/change at random. I bought this partly to test out the UI scaling in Unity!... and I have to say it's very awesome (both the screen and the UI scaling)... however I have encountered a strange problem. Seemingly at random, I have so far 3 times in 10 days had the font size (not UI size) suddenly jump to something much too large. UI scaling for the display is set at 1.38x and this is quite perfect for me, it sure means no one will be able to read my screen over my shoulder, but I that's fine! I had to install a Firefox plugin to apply scaling there, but I realise why that is. Anyway... I installed ubuntu-tweak and discovered that the large fonts were due to the Text Scaling Factor having jumped up to a number above 2.5... I also discovered that I could not move the slider because every time I moved it the fonts re-scaled the slider moved and lost mouse focus... and the slider reset to where it was to begin with... I clicked the button on the right to return to 1.0, and it returned to 1.4, which I assume is representative of the 1.38 I set in the screen scaling... but I have no explanation for why it suddenly jumped (when I logged out and back in) from 1.4 to something like 2.5.).. I have attached a screenshot. This forces theme developer to use use same background color for both unity-panel un-maximized windows, which breaks theme design. The idea is that theme-developers like to think unity-panel as a panel not just a title-bar for maximized window. According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Unity/Theming, color set in UnityDecoration.top is used for both unmaximized maximized window. UnityDecoration.top { color: @dark_fg_color } And when this is set, the color set in .unity-panel.menuitem is ignored for window title text in panel (it still paints some other text in panel like indicator-datetime) .unity-panel .menuitem { border-width: 0 1px; color: @panel_fg_color; # this does not affect window title text anymore. } This color (OR unity.panel foreground color in UnityPanelWidget) should be used to paint the window tile text for maximized window, as it used to be in old compiz-decorator. If I press the SUPER button to activate the dash and then I wait 3 minutes for auto screen locking the screen become black. After that when I move the mouse to go to lockscreen and unlock my session, I see the dash on top of the lockscreen. I can digit my password and unlock the laptop pressing enter but I cannot see the username, box, dots etc I think that the screenshot attached explain very whell what I'm writing. I think that this is a security problem because as you can see from my screenshot other people can see my personal data (file and folders) without authorization. [Test Case] (1) Make sure the screen lock is enabled and has a reasonable timeout set. (2) Use the Super button to activate the Dash. (3) Wait for the screen lock timeout so the lockscreen / screensaver comes up. (4) Move the mouse or press a shift key to display the lockscreen. (5) The Dash should not appear on top of the lockscreen. [Regression Potential] None. The fix is to explicitly undisplay the dash when the screen is locked. Oddly I can't reproduce the problem with other super- keystrokes such as Super-S or Super-T. It only happens with Super-W. A quick tap of Super-S will reliably open expo mode. This is caused by the fact that due to a regression unity7 is not loaded anymore by upstart (but by gnome-session) and thus it seems that sometimes it doesn't properly gets restarted. This is also a security issue, because if the session was locked, and unity is not reloaded the session won't be locked anymore. [Test Case] From a terminal run killall -9 compiz multiple times, it should always reload, but it fails after a couple of times. [Regression Potential] The fix is about always making unity to be launched by upstart. Regression potential is low, since upstart is now used by most ubuntu desktop applications, and it ensures compiz will run properly anyway. This is a regression after updating unity from version 6.2.0-0ubuntu4 to 6.4.0-0ubuntu1. Steps to reproduce: Make sure that launcher is set to autohide and it's not visible. 1. Open dash pressing Super 2. Notice that the launcher background is not blurred. This happens only when dash is opened pressing Super button. If launcher happens to be visible prior to opening dash, for example opening dash from BFB, the launcher background is blurred properly. If you open dash by using lens shortcuts (Super+F for example), the launcher background is blurred correctly most of the time. Also, if the launcher background has no blur and you click something with your mouse inside dash, the launcher background gets blurred. It is essenetial from a productivity standpoint for the user to be able to configure any of those. It was possible with Metacity / Compiz through the Keyboard Shortcuts window. The same interface could be used for Unity for updating its configuration and possibly featuring few Unity-specific keybindings. Desired resolution: - All the unity keyboard shortcuts (defined in the following document, https://docs.google.com/a/canonical.com/document/d/1jqeKtIJwqLtl58Wk_fqjr9Rrgxn9zsouCYOo-cZsLSE/edit?hl=en_GB ) should be present and configurable using the 'Keyboard/Shortcuts' panel in 'System Settings' - Any keyboard shortcuts that are not supported by Unity should be removed. Review the following keyboard shortcut bugs before fixing this bug: - F10 shortcut is used to show menu and this is wrong (bug #878492) - Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do what most people typing it would expect (bug #890747) - Unity window placement shortcuts require a numpad (bug #751050) - Add keyboard shortcut hint overlay that is displayed when a user presses and holds the Super key (bug #855532) - The grid keybindings are behaving inconsistently (bug #878820) - Make Unity keyboard shortcuts configurable (bug #775434) - Shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade (bug #891757) - Unity should also use Super-L to lock screen by default (bug #830709) - Improvements to Launcher reveal when Super is pressed behaviour (bug #905342) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/775434/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This glow only persists as long as the dragged item is directly over the launcher tile, as soon as the dragged item is moved off the launcher tile, the glow should stop. Use cases: - User drags a .png file over the Firefox icon in the Launcher. As soon as the .png file is over the Firefox icon, the firefox icon starts to glow. The user then moves the .png file off the Firefox launcher icon, and the Firefox launcher immediately stops glowing. - User drags a launcher tile from it's position in the launcher to the trash can. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1237132] Re: Change Show Desktop ALT-TAB option label when this option is in the state where it will reverse the prior show desktop action.
** Changed in: unity Milestone: 7.2.1 = 7.2.2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1237132 Title: Change Show Desktop ALT-TAB option label when this option is in the state where it will reverse the prior show desktop action. Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Committed Status in Unity: Triaged Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: If I were to sit next to you at your computer, put my arm around your shoulder and ask you: Show me the Desktop What would you do? Load up a Firefox window? What if I asked you again Show me the Desktop Would you do something different than, say, show the desktop? Thusly, when one selects Show Desktop with ALT+TAB I propose either: 1) Show the Desktop and only the desktop, no matter the state. Or: 2) Change the state from Show Desktop to Show Open Windows. Thank you for your consideration. -- Desired solution: - First see the description of bug #966030 - When the user is in the 3rd state described in the description of the aforementioned bug (e.g. they have just used the 'Show Desktop' function to minimise all their windows, and have not opened or restored any new windows after doing this), if the user goes to the 'Show Desktop' option in Alt-Tab, the title should be changed to 'Restore Windows'. The action that is performed when this option is selected should not change, the only thing that should change is the label in this state. - If possible, it would also be good to change the tooltip of the Launcher Show Desktop icon when in this state if possible, but if not no worries.
