[Dx-packages] [Bug 1314095] Re: Unity Lockscreen in 14.04 can't unlock when using LDAP account

2014-07-09 Thread Joost Ringoot
Hello Jan,

Apparently the LTSP authentication method for the client is not the same
as for the server, I was to hastly to say that sssd was installed in the
LTSP client like it is on the server, it is not by default.

There are no errors unix_chkpwd in the logs but:

ldap+krb5 is configured using nss-ldapd and nslcd. It works fine. getent
passwd and getent shadow works fine.
I am able to login in console without any problems.
I was able to login in lightdm.
Then I used the lock screen.
I could not disable the lock screen using my password.
  I rebooted my computer.

  Now:
After logging in through lightdm, the unity lockscreen locks the screen
immediately and I can not disable it using my password.

From my short inspection of auth.log and unix_chkpwd sources it seems,
that unix_chkpwd works fine when called from lightdm and fails to get
user info when called from unity lockscreen.

2014-07-09 Thread Jan Groenewald
Hi Joost,

I think those kwallet errors are harmless if you don't use KDE; I commented
mine out.
0 root@muizenberg:/etc/pam.d#grep kwal *
lightdm:#authoptionalpam_kwallet.so
lightdm:#session optionalpam_kwallet.so auto_start
lightdm.all.allowed:#authoptionalpam_kwallet.so
lightdm.all.allowed:#session optionalpam_kwallet.so auto_start
lightdm-greeter:#authoptionalpam_kwallet.so
lightdm-greeter:#session optionalpam_kwallet.so auto_start
lightdm.user.allowed:#authoptionalpam_kwallet.so
lightdm.user.allowed:#session optionalpam_kwallet.so auto_start

I think you can ignore pam_succeed_if, I see that regularly.

You DO seem to have unix_chkpwd, but I also get that message after the fix;
from your logs:

Jul 9 08:45:12 zotac-44 unix_chkpwd[4847]: password check failed for user
(testuser)

This is me succesfully unlocking after the unix_chkpwd workaround:

0 root@muizenberg:~#ls -l /sbin/unix_chkpwd
-rwsr-sr-x 1 root shadow 35536 Feb 1 00:21 /sbin/unix_chkpwd
0 root@muizenberg:/var/log#tail -n 5 auth.log
Jul 9 11:10:35 muizenberg compiz: pam_succeed_if(lightdm:auth):
requirement user ingroup nopasswdlogin not met by user jan
Jul 9 11:10:37 muizenberg unix_chkpwd[22139]: password check failed for
user (jan)
Jul 9 11:10:37 muizenberg compiz: pam_unix(lightdm:auth): authentication
failure; logname= uid=1 euid=1 tty= ruser= rhost= user=jan
Jul 9 11:10:37 muizenberg compiz: gkr-pam: unlocked login keyring
Jul 9 11:10:37 muizenberg compiz: pam_group(lightdm:setcred): unable to
set the group membership for user: Operation not permitted
0 root@muizenberg:/var/log#

Another thought, are there any dconf/gsettings lockdown in LTSP that might
affect this?

Regards,
Jan

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1339714] [NEW] Application windows do not become active when started via keyboard shortcuts

2014-07-09 Thread Michael Satke
Public bug reported:

I used to start Gnome-calculator and Thunderbird via my keyboard short
cuts. This used to work very well andd handy, for my keyboard has some
extra keys for those purposes.

Now I can still start the desired applications, but I have to do an
extra click (or alt-tab) on their window to get them active. This ist
particularly annoying and unhandy for the calculator. I tested this
contra-productive behaviour on thunderbird and on gnome-calculator.

This bug seems to have occured about May 2014, and is active in 14.04
(my desktop computer) and 13.10 (my laptop computer).

I consider this a very small bug, and so i hope this is really easy to
fix.

Thank you in advance, Michael

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1311211] Re: Bluetooth icon has a padlock emblem when paired with device

2014-07-09 Thread reanjr
Why wouldn't the icon just turn blue, like the messaging icon (and - you
know - BLUEtooth)? The lock is confusing.

There is some situation -- I don't know what -- in which the Bluetooth
icon in the menu bar appears with a padlock emblem.

This is not mentioned anywhere in the design specification.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bluetooth#PC Either the code is wrong, or
  the spec is wrong.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1339862] [NEW] running two instances of thunderbird or firefox causes the main window to no longer refresh

2014-07-09 Thread launch...@awduggan.com
Public bug reported:

When running 2 instances of firefox OR 2 instances of thunderbird and I
go to the launcher to switch to one of the instances unity shows the 2
instances of the program in the main display area and then freezes the
main window. No screen refreshes are performed in that area afterwords.
I can go to the applications or switch between applications but the
screen no longer refreshes. The notification area refreshes and the
launcher area refreshes but the main window no longer refreshes.

Performing an alt tab to switch between applications displays the icons
to switch between but once a program is selected it does not redraw the
window for the program. The launcher area updates the program icon to
indicate which application is running.

killing running programs from the launcher does not seem to help either.

The problem is easily reproducible. I have been running unity since it
was first introduced in a LTS version on the same hardware and update my
system when a new LTS is released. This problem started occurring after
I installed 14.04 LTS. The problem only happens with firefox or
thunderbird but after the problem occurs killing those applications does
not fix the unity window issue.
