[Dx-packages] [Bug 929135] Re: Notifications use the wrong text size

2014-09-15 Thread BVBISE_B6

Title:
Notifications use the wrong text size

Status in “notify-osd” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
The Universal Access control panel lets you change the system font
size. If you do this, notify-osd does not respect the selected size -
it seems to pick up the second-to-last font size selected, but not the
last (current) font size selected by the universal access control
  panel.

  To reproduce:
  1) Note the font size of a notification (trigger by adjusting brightness on a
laptop display
  2) Open the universal access control panel (e.g. by searching for 'font' in
the dash)
  3) In the Seeing tab, change Text size from Normal to Small. Note
that the text size in open applications and in the panel changes
  4) Trigger a notification. Note the size of the notification - it is the same
as the size of the notification in step 1
  4) Change the text size back to Normal
  5) Trigger a notification. Note the size - it is small

  Expected results:
  1) The notification in step 4 is small, since that's the system font size
  2) The notification in step 5 is back to normal, since that's the system font
size

This behavior seems consistent - the size of the notification always
seems to be the size of the previously-selected system font, not the
  current system font.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1369468] [NEW] no warning when volume increased to maximum and headphones plugged

2014-09-15 Thread James Hunt
Public bug reported:

Android gives the user a warning if they attempt to raise the volume to
100% when headphones are plugged.

This is a sensible precaution both to save the user from tinnitus and to
avoid any potential legal repercussions.

2014-09-15 Thread Michael Wouters
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1312137 ***

It seems that this is not just a Qt bug. I have seen the problem a number
of times with firefox now. It's 'fixed' the same way: by moving focus to
another window and then returning to firefox.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1364106] Re: Unable to launch programs ~18 hours post reboot

2014-09-15 Thread Ken
A number of interesting things have happened. First, as requested, I
ran xrestop. This revealed a number of tasks under unknown that kept
increasing in number, as predicted. To try and figure out what was
creating these, I rebooted and only opened the terminal with xrestop.
These unknown tasks began to appear with nothing other than the
terminal running. So I looked for tasks that I could easily stop.
Wallch, a wallpaper changer, was one I could control. After stopping
Wallch, the unknown tasks quit increasing. I rebooted to clean things
up and all stayed functional for several days. Reactivating Wallch
brought back the problem.

Contacting Wallch, they had me upgrade from 4.00 to the latest release
4.16. Now the application fail to launch symptom is gone (as near as I
can tell), but the unknown tasks continue to appear, adding one in
most instances of a wallpaper switch. With the launch issue no longer
appearing, the number of unknowns has grown to MUCH larger quantities
than before, probably because I've not been forced to reboot as often.
Pursuing with Wallch support.

I also have noticed that just prior to an added unknown task, the
nautilus task increases storage by 12141K in both the pxm mem and total
columns. And then the unknown task is created with essentially the
same amount - 12140K - and the nautilus task returns to it's prior
storage usage.

Bug description:
I have had a ongoing problem where programs fail to start once my
machine has been active for 18 to 24 hours. A reboot corrects the
problem but it will reoccur once the waiting period has passed. I
reported this under bug # 1354929 but received no response. I've been
using Ubuntu for about 6 months so I'm still learning and this is the
first bug I've tried to report.

Running 14.04 with all maint current. Hardware is a IBM ThinkCenter
8213 with 2GB ram, 64GB SSD primary, 1 TB data area (which is a
windows formatted drive via USB and external case). Dual monitors
(one running off a graphics card, the other running off motherboard).

  Symptom Details:
Following a boot of the machine, all software functions as it should. All
programs start fine, no issues. After an extended idle time (I have no time
limit set for session, so it doesn't even lock the screen or logout), when I
attempt to start a program it will fail to launch. This behavior is the same
for all applications - Thunderbird, Firefox, Libre Office, Wine installed
programs, Rythymbox, Terminal. No error messages are presented. All that
occurs is the cursor switches to the waiting clock for 6-8 seconds then returns
to a pointer. All currently open applications function normally with one
exception. If I use an open Firefox window to go to YouTube, it will not
initialize the video box.

I've been researching how to get this reported (since my first attempt did
not garner any interest). I discovered ubuntu-bug. So I started a new tactic.
Following a reboot, when things are working well, I open a terminal, a gedit
window, and a firefox window containing a number of tabs containing the bug
reporting pages I have found. Once the failure occured, I went to the open
terminal and issued ubuntu-bug unity. The following occured in the terminal:
  ken@OurVeranda-Linux2:~$ ubuntu-bug unity
  Maximum number of clients reached
  ** (apport-gtk:13395): WARNING **: Could not open X display

  (process:15687): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion
  'sys_page_size == 0' failed

A prior event generated a large number of messages indicating
something about a key failure in apport-gtk. That is why I setup the
gedit window, so that I could save those messages.

Attempted workarounds (other than a reboot):
Logging off and back on does not work.
Starting programs from the terminal window does not work.
Trying to start programs from the search panel (as opposed to attempting to
start from the task bar) does not work.

An update - In the above post I stated that the nautilus task was
showing the memory bump and release. Upon another reboot and rerun of
xrestop, the task Desktop is in the same slot as nautilus was before, no
nautilus task now. But the Desktop task is doing the same behavior.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1330037] Re: [FFe] upower 0.99.1 transition

2014-09-15 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
As Xubuntu Project Lead and following my Xubuntu Release Team collegues,
I would like to strongly object to this FFe. It really is extremely late
in the cycle for something quite untested to land that affects so many
desktops.

Bug description:
upower 0.99 needs uploading for gnome 3.12 to enter ubuntu. It drops
the suspend/hibernate functions, as logind now does that. All major
DEs have support for this,so nearly everything just needs a rebuild.
  This bug tracks the transition.

A transition is required as some features were removed and the SONAME
  was changed

All packages (and build logs) are staged in
  https://launchpad.net/~noskcaj/+archive/upower/+packages

sugar will probably need removing. If a package only needs a rebuild,
mark it fix commited, if something else is needed, in progress.

  cairo-dock-plug-ins: needs rebuilding
gnome-shell - ready, just need to drop upower revert.
  gnome-control-center: WIP
gnome-packagekit: Upower dropped from newest upstream release.
gnome-power-manager: Fixed in newest upstream release. Merge from debian
gnome-session: Done in ppa, needs patches from git or new upstream release
gnome-settings-daemon: 3.12 is ready out of the box, however that also
requires gnome-desktop transition. 3.8 and also u-s-d: I have a package that is
mostly working, however had to cherry-pick quite a few patches and may just be
better to backport 3.12 power plugin. (considering g-s-d patches will be
temporary, but u-s-d not so)
kde: works fine with systemd, suspend broken with upstart, no rebuilds needed
  cinnamon: Rebuild
mate: all mate packages need rebuilding
  python-dbusmock: needs rebuild
sugar: Upstream bug now filed. Unlikely to be ready in time for 14.10. We
should remove this from the archive till the next upstream release
telepathy-mission-control-5: Debian has dropped upower support, so it's done
  wmbattery: needs rebuild
  xfce4-power-manager: Needs rebuilding
xfce4-session: Fixed already, since we switched to logind
  xfce4-settings: Needs rebuild
  xfce4-systemload-plugin: needs rebuild

Toolkit autopilot tests have started failing, see

http://ci.ubuntu.com/smokeng/utopic/touch/mako/190:20140815:20140811.1/9676/ubuntuuitoolkit/
and the #188 results too. It's different tests each time, but a bit
above 10 of them tend to fail on each full run.

Reproducable locally, where I got 11 such failures.

  To reproduce:
  [terminal 1]
  1. flash/update device if needed
  2. adb shell
  3. apt install ubuntu-ui-toolkit-autopilot
  4. powerd-cli display on bright # leave running, also unlock the screen so
that lenses are shown
  [terminal 2]
  5. phablet-config autopilot --dbus-probe enable # wait until finishes
  6. phablet-test-run ubuntuuitoolkit

A full test suite run will take around 0.5h and should produce a bunch
  of 'Application failed to start.':s.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1369737] [NEW] Send button does not enable until you press spacebar

2014-09-15 Thread Bill Filler
Public bug reported:

krillin build 40, rtm image

- make sure word prediction/preditive text is turned on (this is now the
default)
- receive a text message on your phone
- pull down messaging indicator
- click on the message
- type Hello in the entry field

Expected result:
- the send button should become active as soon as you start typing

Actual result:
- send button stays disabled until you press the spacebar

The send button should not wait until the word is committed before
becoming active, but instead should listen for any change and enable the
button accordingly. The messaging app does this correctly.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1330037] Re: [FFe] upower 0.99.1 transition

2014-09-15 Thread Martin Wimpress
As requested by Jackson Doak (noskcaj) I have tested MATE 1.8.1 against
the upower transitional PPA below.

  * https://launchpad.net/~noskcaj/+archive/ubuntu/upower

From `mate-applets` the Battery status panel applet works correctly.
`mate-power-manager` and `mate-session-manager` continue to work
together to provide suspend, hibernate, lock and resume functionality
just as before. No regressions as far as I can determine.

Bug description:
upower 0.99 needs uploading for gnome 3.12 to enter ubuntu. It drops
the suspend/hibernate functions, as logind now does that. All major
DEs have support for this,so nearly everything just needs a rebuild.
  This bug tracks the transition.

A transition is required as some features were removed and the SONAME
  was changed

All packages (and build logs) are staged in
  https://launchpad.net/~noskcaj/+archive/upower/+packages

sugar will probably need removing. If a package only needs a rebuild,
mark it fix commited, if something else is needed, in progress.

  cairo-dock-plug-ins: needs rebuilding
gnome-shell - ready, just need to drop upower revert.
  gnome-control-center: WIP
gnome-packagekit: Upower dropped from newest upstream release.
gnome-power-manager: Fixed in newest upstream release. Merge from debian
gnome-session: Done in ppa, needs patches from git or new upstream release
gnome-settings-daemon: 3.12 is ready out of the box, however that also
requires gnome-desktop transition. 3.8 and also u-s-d: I have a package that is
mostly working, however had to cherry-pick quite a few patches and may just be
better to backport 3.12 power plugin. (considering g-s-d patches will be
temporary, but u-s-d not so)
kde: works fine with systemd, suspend broken with upstart, no rebuilds needed
  cinnamon: Rebuild
mate: all mate packages need rebuilding
  python-dbusmock: needs rebuild
sugar: Upstream bug now filed. Unlikely to be ready in time for 14.10. We
should remove this from the archive till the next upstream release
telepathy-mission-control-5: Debian has dropped upower support, so it's done
  wmbattery: needs rebuild
  xfce4-power-manager: Needs rebuilding
xfce4-session: Fixed already, since we switched to logind
  xfce4-settings: Needs rebuild
  xfce4-systemload-plugin: needs rebuild

Bug description:
This issue regards the packages for SCIM Input Method and DASH.*

In Ubuntu 14.04, the Dash doesn't work when scim is selected as the
Keyboard Input Method. Doesn't work means the Dash opens, but one
cannot type in the search screen. It accepts one letter and then
freezes. When one goes into language support and changes the Keyboard
IM to another option such as ibus or Fcitx, the Dash problem resolves.
I started a thread on the Ubuntu forums
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219628 about this matter
some weeks ago, and someone else on the thread (tuannb86) reported the
same problem. So there are definitely multiple users facing this
  issue.

*I could not follow the standard procedure to initiate the bug in
Ubuntu, because that requires hitting Alt-F2 to open a run-command
screening and typing ubuntu-bug 15370. (15370 is the number of the
running process for scim in system monitor). By that way the bug is
initiated and all the relevant info comes directly into the bug. But
when scim is the selected IM, due to the bug I can't type in the dash
screen. That includes the run-command screen.
