[Dx-packages] [Bug 1342152] Re: GetActive method for the screensaver reports False even when screensaver is active
I wonder on which version of Unity is that supposed to work. Maybe it works on Utopic, but it doesn't work on Trusty: $ gdbus call --session --dest com.canonical.Unity --object-path /com/canonical/Unity/Session --method com.canonical.Unity.Session.IsLocked Error: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such method 'IsLocked' Is there any alternative for Trusty? I understand the fact that it's not the same thing to have the screen locked than to have the screen in blacked out. However, there have been plenty of programs or applets written in the past that check whether the screensaver is active or not by checking this method and this is how it worked with Unity in Precise. This basically breaks anything that used those checks, requiring changes specific for Unity, while gnome- screensaver keeps behaving the same way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1342152 Title: GetActive method for the screensaver reports False even when screensaver is active Status in Unity: Won't Fix Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Hi! unity version: 7.2.1+14.04.20140513-0ubuntu2 (Trusty) I have an application that checks the state of the screen saver via dbus. Unity implements an interface for using org.gnome.ScreenSaver, so as far as I can see, this should work (Python example): import dbus session_bus = dbus.SessionBus() session_manager = session_bus.get_object('org.gnome.ScreenSaver', '/org/gnome/ScreenSaver') session_manager.GetActive(dbus_interface='org.gnome.ScreenSaver') This correctly returns False when the screensaver is not active, however, when I lock the screen and check (using a call to time.sleep), it also returns False. I have checked that calling: session_manager.SetActive(True, dbus_interface='org.gnome.ScreenSaver') Correctly activates the screensaver, so that part seems to be working. However, even in that case, if after activating the screensaver I call GetActive it returns False. From looking at the code [1], I suspect the problem is that when I lock the screen via Ctrl-Alt-L, the internal _active member is not being set to True, but I'm not sure what might be going on with the variable after SetActive is called. Shouldn't be a real problem. ** Changed in: tagger Status: New = Opinion ** Changed in: reminders-app Status: New = Opinion ** Changed in: tagger Assignee: (unassigned) = Michael Zanetti (mzanetti) ** Changed in: reminders-app Assignee: (unassigned) = Michael Zanetti (mzanetti) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to url-dispatcher in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1378817 Title: apparmor denial for /home/phablet/.local/share/applications/ and /usr/share/applications/ Status in Ubuntu Reminders app: Opinion Status in Tagger: Opinion Status in “qtbase-opensource-src” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “url-dispatcher” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Reminders and tagger are for some reason trying to do a read on /home/phablet/.local/share/applications/ and /usr/share/applications/, but apparmor policy disallows this: apparmor=DENIED operation=open profile=com.ubuntu.developer.mzanetti.tagger_tagger_0.5.1.0 name=/home/phablet/.local/share/applications/ pid=NNN comm=tagger requested_mask=r denied_mask=r fsuid=32011 ouid=32011 apparmor=DENIED operation=open profile=com.ubuntu.developer.mzanetti.tagger_tagger_0.5.1.0 name=/usr/share/applications/ pid=NNN comm=tagger requested_mask=r denied_mask=r fsuid=32011 ouid=0 apparmor=DENIED operation=open profile=com.ubuntu.reminders_reminders_0.5.262 name=/home/phablet/.local/share/applications/ pid=NNN comm=reminders requested_mask=r denied_mask=r fsuid=32011 ouid=32011 apparmor=DENIED operation=open profile=com.ubuntu.reminders_reminders_0.5.262 name=/usr/share/applications/ pid=NNN comm=reminders requested_mask=r denied_mask=r fsuid=32011 ouid=0 This is disallowed because allowed them would constitute a privacy leak. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1379422] [NEW] In show desktop mode, windows can still be moved and resized
Public bug reported: Use the show desktop feature (for example with ctrl+super+d). The windows will disappear but you will notice that the mouse changes as you pass over the areas where window borders were, and sure enough, you can resize windows with their invisible handles and drag them by their invisible titlebar. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1379474] [NEW] unity://running-apps position in launcher ignored during startup
Public bug reported: IN SHORT: The position of unity://running-apps in the dconf setting /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites is being ignored during startup (login). DETAILED INFORMATION: I will explain this using an example, which makes it easier to explain and understand. Suppose that I have Nautilus and Firefox (+ workspaces and devices) pinned to the Unity launcher, in that order. When I open, for example, gedit, its icon appears below Firefox. dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites returns: ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'application://firefox.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices'] If I move Firefox's icon to below gedit (not pinned), any new applications that I open that are not pinned appear above Firefox's icon, even after closing gedit. dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites now returns: ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop'] 'unity://running-apps' represents the applications that are not pinned, and defines where those applications should appear in the launcher. At least that's what it looks like. The problem is that, after restarting the session or rebooting, 'unity://running-apps' is ignored, and apps that are not pinned appear below the last application://... icon, even if it's the last one. But dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites still returns: ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop'] IMPACT: Because of this bug, users cannot pin applications to the bottom of the launcher, as unpinned apps will always appear below the last pinned application. When I open, for example, gedit, its icon appears below Firefox. dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites returns: - ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'application://firefox.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices'] + ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'application://firefox.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices'] If I move Firefox's icon to below gedit (not pinned), any new applications that I open that are not pinned appear above Firefox's icon, even after closing gedit. dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites now returns: - ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop'] + ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop'] 'unity://running-apps' represents the applications that are not pinned, and defines where those applications should appear in the launcher. At least that's what it looks like. The problem is that, after restarting the session or rebooting, 'unity://running-apps' is ignored, and apps that are not pinned appear below the last application://... icon, even if it's the last one. But dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites still returns: - ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop'] + ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop'] + The favorites are also maintained in gsettings: + gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Launcher favorites returns the same results above. IMPACT: Because of this bug, users cannot pin applications to the bottom of the launcher, as unpinned apps will always appear below the last pinned application. The same case is here, but with Lenovo ThinkPad BT keyboard KT-1255, and Evoluent VerticalMouse BT mouse, and Dell BT m ouse. I suspect that it maybe due to one of kernel updates, because I remember that it worked correct.
