Title:
  Unity panel displayed on top of full-screen windows

Status in Unity:
  Confirmed
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  This is not a duplicate of bug 591189!

  The issue is not in appmenu.

  The issue is either in Unity, Compiz, or X11.

  Most likely this issue is with Unity.

  PROBLEM:

  The Unity panel is always visible, even when applications are in full-screen.
  In that case, it is also impossible to interact with the panel; clicks go to
the full-screen application.

  STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
  1. Install Ubuntu with Unity
  2. Open any kind of application capable of full-screen display
  3. Enter full screen display
  4. Observe that the panel (which includes the application title, the
application menu, the indicator icons, the clock, and the user and system
menus) is still visible.
  5. Furthermore observe that this panel cannot be interacted with while the
full-screen application can.

  DEFINITIONS:

  By Unity do not the entire ubuntu experience.
  Unity means the user interface plugin for compiz.

  By full-screen I do not mean maximised.
  Full-screen means occupying 100% of screen space.

  By panel I do not mean launcher.
  Panel means the horizontal bar across the top edge of the screen.

  MORE DETAIL:

  I have an ongoing thread in the forums, but it has been difficult to
communicate what is going on.
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1848739

  I suspect that this bug affects all users of Unity on all platforms,
  but has gone relatively unnoticed due to difficulty communicating the
  issue and the fact that it only affects the upper 14.3% of the screen
  (1cm on my monitor).

  The term panel is misinterpreted to apply to both parts of Unity's
interface although they are a panel and a launcher.
  The terms full-screen and maximised are misinterpreted as interchangable
while they are not.
  Unity is also misinterpreted as the entire desktop and not one of it's
components.

  [Regression Potential]
  Visual regressions, shell drawing problems. Part of a big change, many
regression potentials.

  Original description:

  NOTE: This bug is only about the single monitor case. If you still
  have problems with multiple monitors, see bug 748539 instead.

  ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
  In natty alpha 3 up to date, I cannot get fullscreen in any application.
Panels are still visible.

  Tested with:
  - totem
  - vlc
  - firefox
  - chrome
  - geany

  Unity panel and top bar are always on top.

  -
  Desired Solution:

  - When a window is fullscreen (note: this should not be confused with
  the *maximised* state) the menu bar should not be displayed.

Title:
  Dialog windows are not turning modal anyway

Status in a fast and powerful GTK+ based mail client:
  Invalid
Status in Overlay Scrollbar:
  New
Status in overlay-scrollbar package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  When I create any GtkDialog in my application, i set these two
  methods: set_transient_for(parent_window) and set_modal(true), so I
  can block any interaction with the app until close the dialog. This
  approach works very good except when any child dialog widget uses
  scrollbars, for example, GtkFileChooserWidget or GtkScrolledWindow.
  This time, when I run dialog, some widgets from parent window, as
  GtkButton or GtkComboBox, are not blocking interaction. To reproduce,
  run this python script:

  #!/usr/bin/python
  from gi.repository import Gtk

  def button_on_clicked(button, parent):
  fch = Gtk.FileChooserDialog()
  fch.set_transient_for(parent)
  fch.set_modal(True)
  fch.show_all()
  fch.run()

  win = Gtk.Window()
  btn = Gtk.Button(Click me!)
  win.add(btn)
  btn.connect('clicked', button_on_clicked, win)
  win.set_position(Gtk.WindowPosition.CENTER)
  win.show_all()
  win.connect('destroy', Gtk.main_quit)
  Gtk.main()

  When I uninstall the overlay-scrollbar and liboverlay-scrollbar*
  packages, and restart unity/gnome-shell, the overlay are disabled and
  the problem is gone. Run the script above with and without overlay
  scrollbars and compare results. The issue can be reproduced in C++ and
  Python wrappers to GTK3 (gtkmm-3 and gi.repository.Gtk, respectively).
  I believe this is an overlay scrollbars issue with GTK3, reproduzible
  with pure C GTK3 or any GTK3 wrapper. I don't know if this issue
  affects GTK2.

  The workaround for me is disable overlay scrollbars to solve my issue.

  What I expected to happen: setting any child dialog modal property to true,
all parent window widgets would be blocked.

  Calendar notifications are treated the same as an alarm notification

Status in Calendar application for Ubuntu devices:

Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  If an alarm fires, the alarm sound seemingly will persist forever.
  This seems like perhaps the right choice for an alarm clock, but seems
  inappropriate for a calendar reminder. I would expect a calendar
  reminder to sound for only a short period.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1362341] Re: OneTime alarms are not automatically dismissed or delete after they are triggered

Title:
  OneTime alarms are not automatically dismissed or delete after they
  are triggered

Status in The Date and Time Indicator:
  In Progress
Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Create a one time alarm to ring in a few minutes
  2. Let the alarm ring
  3. Dismiss the alarm

  What happens:
  The OneTime alarm is still shown as enabled and as a result shows the wrong
status in the clock app. The alarm is no longer shown in the indicator-datetime.

  What should happen:
  The OneTime alarm is either disabled or deleted from the alarm model.

  The clock app cannot disable the alarm since most likely the clock app
  is not even open at the time the alarm is triggered. Since the alarm
  is no longer shown in the indicator-datetime, my intuition tells me
  that indicator-datetime and EDS did its job. Its now up to the SDK
  Alarms API to update the alarm model correctly.

Bug description:
  I am using Ubuntu 14.04.1, the version of unity-services I am using is
  7.2.2+14.04.20140714-0ubuntu1 (one update behind).

  When the screen was locked, I went to click the password input box to bring
up the text cursor. When typing in the password prompt, no stars showed up to
indicate anything was entered into the password input box, and pressing enter
did nothing.
  Eventually I logged in by clicking out and in the password input field to
re-bring-it-into-focus. I discovered that the text I entered into the password
box at first was sent to a friend in Steam chat.

  Although it looked like the password input box in the lock screen had
  focus and was accepting input, it was a chat window hidden behind the
  lock screen that accepted the password input.
