Bug description:
The updates for Raring that came down on 4/18 completely broke my ATI
multi-monitor support. Dropping back to mirrored mode is functioning.

I have three monitors, two are indentical and one is a slightly
smaller resolution. If I break mirroring unity or compiz (not sure
which) is failing to start. I get the same effect for two monitors (I
tried unplugging each of the secondary monitors).

Don't think this is an x/opengl problem since I can get displays. I
just can't get any menus or window decorations.

  Does this help?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia cards

2015-02-14 Thread Stephen M. Webb
A Brief Note on Compiz Versions
==

The Ubuntu Compiz package version currently (2015-02-12) in trusty-
proposed and which contains the fix is 0.9.11.3+14.04.20150122. This is
technically Compiz version 0.9.11.2+bzr3869 with additional changes not
yet merged upstream. The merge to upstream Compiz happens after the
Ubuntu packages in the trusty-proposed pocket migrates to the trusty-
updates pocket. Neither Compiz 0.9.11.3 nor Compiz 0.9.11.4 have been
released by upstream yet regardless of how Ubuntu versions its packages,
athough one of the devs incorrectly changed the Compiz version string to
match the Ubuntu package version.

Ryan did in fact install the first Compiz package available for Ubuntu
14.04 that contains the fix for this bug. In this case, the bug fix was
cherry-picked for the Compiz 0.9.11 branch from the main Compiz branch
(which is at 0.9.12.1) where it has already been released and tested.

tl;dr

- This bug is fixed in Compiz release 0.9.12.1 (currently available in Ubuntu
Vivid Vervet)
- This bug has also been fixed in the Ubuntu package
compiz-1:0.9.11.3+14.04.20150122-0ubuntu1,
currently in the trusty-proposed pocket and migrating soon to the
trusty-updates pocket (and Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS)
- The fix for this bug will appear in Compiz release 0.9.11.3 when it gets
released in the near future

The patch for this was provided by Nvidia. There could be some corner

I'm using latest compiz on intrepid.

Since jockey-gtk does not work on my box (I already filed a bug), I

Now I seem to be having some screen refresh problems when using
compiz: parts of the screen are refreshed, but others aren't. That
means nautilus doesn't show files or folders until I move the cursor
over them, firefox doesn't show webpages properly until I scroll down,
  and so on.

Please, tell me if there is any additional info I can provide to find

A note about Ryan's comment #364 : compiz --version shows 0.9.11.3.
Wasn't the bug supposed to be fixed in 0.9.12.1 ?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1421943] [NEW] sometimes it is not shown after boot

2015-02-14 Thread Marcel Hörz
Public bug reported:

ubuntu 15.04 r99 on mako with indicator-sound 12.10.2+15.04.20150205

You boot your phone, then the following happen to the sound-indicator:

What I expected to happen:
Normally, the sound-indicator should show you a speaker with the name sound and
there are tools (mute, loudness) under it.

What happen instead:
But sometimes, it shows only a gear and it is named indicator-sound and there
are no tools like mute-switch and loudness-control.

(I didn't see it in the last 4 releases, but I didn't restart it often,
so the possibility, to get the bug was not high enough. But as far as I
remember, it was in r60, too.)

Bug description:
When the alt-tab switcher accordions an icon there seems to be a
transient (~.5s) mis-positioning of the title text when you select the
  icon.

The attached video demonstrates this - watch the Sublime Text title.
When the icon has been accordioned before selection the text shifts
~1px to the right after ~.5s; when the icon has not been accordioned,
the text is consistently positioned correctly.

Bug description:
  1. Open System SettingsAppearance
  2. Set the theme to HighContrast

  What happens
  ---
The window theme (where the app's title bar, minimize, maximize, and close
buttons are when not maximized) doesn't change. Even running unity --replace
doesn't change the window theme. It takes logging out and logging back in for
the HighContrast window theme to take effect.

gnome-accessibility-themes 3.6.3 includes a new window theme for the
HighContrast theme. The current window theme is stored in gsettings
  org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences

Changing the theme to Ambiance, Radiance, or Adwaita (Adwaita is
included in gnome-themes-standard) changes the window theme without
delay. It's only HighContrast that isn't working right.

Switcher text transiently rendered at incorrect position

Bug description:
When the alt-tab switcher accordions an icon there seems to be a
transient (~.5s) mis-positioning of the title text when you select the
  icon.

The attached video demonstrates this - watch the Sublime Text title.
When the icon has been accordioned before selection the text shifts
~1px to the right after ~.5s; when the icon has not been accordioned,
the text is consistently positioned correctly.

Bug description:
When the launcher autohides it leaves behind a stripe which obscures
the upper left portion of any open window. Sometimes the stripe
splits in two vertically when you move a window to the very far left
or past the left edge of the screen.
