  [Regression Potential]

The patch for this was provided by Nvidia. There could be some corner

  Binary package hint: compiz

I'm using latest compiz on intrepid.

Since jockey-gtk does not work on my box (I already filed a bug), I
manually installed nvidia-glx-177 and added the driver → nvidia line
  to xorg.conf.

Now I seem to be having some screen refresh problems when using
compiz: parts of the screen are refreshed, but others aren't. That
means nautilus doesn't show files or folders until I move the cursor
over them, firefox doesn't show webpages properly until I scroll down,
  and so on.

Please, tell me if there is any additional info I can provide to find
  out the cause.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1421559] Re: Should be able to silence alarm using power button

2015-02-16 Thread Nekhelesh Ramananthan
Adding ubuntu-ux to get design opinion. Perhaps we could also add a
settings option in the clock app to allow the user to decide if he would
like to dismiss/snooze the alarm on pressing the power button.

Status in Clock application for Ubuntu devices:
  Confirmed
Status in Ubuntu UX bugs:

Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  krillin @rtm #16

  Reproduce:
  1. Set alarm
  2. Let alarm go off, but do not turn it off immediately—do not touch the
phone surface, wait until the screen goes black
  3. Try to disable alarm

  What happens:
You need to turn on screen, press OK on alarm

  What should have happened:
I should be able to silence the alarm using the power button—like on iOS.

Rationale: I set two alarms on weekdays, one at 07:07 and one at
09:07. When I wake up at 07:07 and go to school, the 09:07 alarm goes
off during class. Removing the phone from my pocket, swiping,
unlocking and dismissing the alarm, always takes about 3-4 rings.

  Related to bug 1340329.

Bug description:
On installation programs with Software-Center the program icons appear
in unity-dash, before installation itself is finished.

Moving the mouse over this icon shows Installation abwartend
(translation from german to engish: waiting for installation
  finishing/completion).

  So far so good.

The issue is that also when the installation is finished this text
  keeps.

  I attach a screenshot.
  -

  Expected:

The information text should change to the name of the program.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1.Start software center
2.Chose a program to install(e.g clamtk or actionaz)
  3.Start installation
4.See the program icon appear in unity side bar during installation(still
running)
5.Move the mouse over this icon(installation still running).
6.See the information text Installation abwartend (possible english
translation: see above)
  7.Wait until the installation finished.
8.Move the mouse over the program icon again.
9.See that the Installation abwartend is still there(which is incorrect)

Bug description:
Hi, I closed the lid of my laptop without suspending-to-RAM and after i
opened it, I realised Unity is no more reacting to mouse nor touchpad,
scrolling using arrows, alt+tab, everything WORKS, but scrolling using mouse,
clicking, moving windows etc. does NOT.
Although cursor moves and clicking to DASH and PANEL WORKS. So may be it
isn't related to unity, may be it is the problem in compositor (metacity?)
switch to another workspace doesn't help.

Bug description:
How I got to this situation: I decided to switch from a properly
installed nvidia propertary driver to nouveau for testing purposes. I
opened software sources, opened tab Additional Drivers, chose Using
  X.Org X Server and restarted.

Now every window is over ubuntu dash if visible.

If I install nvidia propertary driver in similar way, the problem
  disappears.

I am not sure if this problem is about unity or about software sources
-- it seems to me that I am still running a sort of nvidia-propertary
driver although I wanted to use nouveau.

  2) open rb and play music
  3) close rb window, it continues playing music
  4) switch to another desktop (ctr-alt-right) then go back (ctr-alt-left)
  5) click rb launcher.

  expected:
  rb window is shown

  currently:
launcher blinks but the window is not shown. Clicking again shows it.

  Greetings!

I encountered a problem which I consider to be a flaw in the UX of
Unity. I hope this report will be useful to you.

After activating Ubuntu One I began to see the default keyring was
not unlocked on login popup. I can only presume it was caused by
Ubuntu One, since the popup in no way indicates exactly which process
is requesting access to the keyring. Since Ubuntu One (or whatever app
it was) is also incredibly annoying and keeps re-popping it up if I
click Cancel, I managed to notice a problem with Unity while the popup
  was there.

The popup dramatically steals focus from the entire system. In the
dash I am unable to type, I was barely able to open it - it opens only
in the period of time that the popup is not there. Also, Synapse
global shortcut doesn't work (Ctrl+Space), and Guake terminal can be
opened (F12) but I was unable to type any commands into it.

I think no popup should be allowed to be so agressive in grabbing the
  input from the user.

I'm not sure if this belongs under Unity, I apologise if this is the
  wrong place to report it.

  Best regards!

Hi, I closed the lid of my laptop without suspending-to-RAM and after i
opened it, I realised Unity is no more reacting to mouse nor touchpad,
scrolling using arrows, alt+tab, everything WORKS, but scrolling using mouse,
clicking, moving windows etc. does NOT.
Although cursor moves and clicking to DASH and PANEL WORKS. So may be it
isn't related to unity, may be it is the problem in compositor (metacity?)

Every time Thunderbird is updated (it seems), the Thunderbird Mail
launcher that is pinned (or locked) to my Unity launcher stops
working correctly --- it still launches Thunderbird, but instead of
the launcher icon changing to show that the program is running, a
*new*, identical launcher entry appears at the bottom of the launcher.

To get normal behavior back, I then have to right click on this new
launcher entry, choose Lock to Launcher, right click on the old
launcher, choose Unlock from Launcher, then drag the new icon to the
place in the panel where the old one was.

This is silly. (Imagine if Windows 7 users had to do this every time
there was patch for Outlook or IE...)

Feel free to reassign to the thunderbird package if that *really* is
where the fix needs to go...

I'm running quantal, but this has been happening as long as I can
remember, at least as far back as precise...

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1089757] Re: Every thunderbird update requires locking a new entry to the launcher and removing the old one

Bug description:

With the BQ Ubuntu Edition, the XBMC Remote (from Canonical) is
