Bug description:
In Ubuntu 14.10, the mouse cursor graphic gets corrupted under certain
occasions. It then looks flipped, sheared or shows fragments of a
  previous cursor.

  * when switching the cursor them forth and back in Gnome Tweak Tool
  * when drag&dropping a document icon

Maybe related, the cursor does not always show the correct image scale
on a high-dpi display (this was working right in 14.04). For example
after login, or when hovering specific areas, or on mouse down to
start a drag&drop, the cursor appears 1/4 the expected size.

Attached is a photo of a corrupted cursor (whereas a screenshot with
  Gimp showed the uncorrupted cursor).

Bug description:
Only seen in a ubuntu (unity) session, others report gnome sessions

  SRU INFORMATION

  TEST CASE on laptop:
   - Shutdown machine from session indicator, close laptop lid right after
selecting shutdown or reboot from pop up window.
   - What should happen: lid close gets ignored and machine should complete
shutdown process
  - What does happen: machine gets suspended until the laptop lid is re-opened,
then it either completes the shutdown (if the lid close happened early enough),
or hangs eternally

  FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/6c65a113 and
  https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/b8f324dae5 (both are
  needed)

REGRESSION POTENTIAL: A broken systemd-shim can potentially completely
prevent shutdown, reboot, suspend, hibernate. This code has been
tested with all scenarios, with both doing suspend/lid close during
normal operation, and during shutdown (at which point lid close is now
  ignored).

2015-04-01 Thread Andy Carver
It appears it to be a partial workaround. Shut down command via ssh
halted. Reboot command via ssh appears successful.

It may have been because of a zombie. They eat celeron brains for
breakfast.

I'll confirm when I can.

Title:
Dash - Online preview content should be speculatively cached

Status in Ayatana Design:
  Fix Committed
Status in Unity:
  Triaged
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Reduce the incidence of this happening by speculatively pre-cacheing
  the preview data.

Note the pre-caching is very important to reduce the incidence of the
user seeing the loading state. All major browsers currently
speculatively pre-cache content, so if we are match user's
expectations regarding speed of content display (shaped by using web
browsers) this is something we really need to do.

  ---
  Desired solution:

  1. When the user opens a preview, results subsequent to the preview
  should start pre-cacheing.

  2. Once a user has previewed one content item underneath a category
header, as long as the Dash remains open we continue to speculatively
cache the preview content for the other items under the category
header (even when the user returns to the results view). The pre-
caching stops when a) the user closes the Dash b) the user previews
the a result from underneath another category header. In this second
case the Dash then starts speculatively pre-cacheing the content from
  underneath this new category header.

Bug description:
There are currently possible races when using lenses - currently a
lens will emit the "Changed" signal once it starts up which basically
contains all properties of a lens - that means there's time between
getting an active GDBusProxy and receiving the "Changed" signal when
  things can go wrong.

To fix this issue we should be using dbus properties which are
automatically read when getting a proxy and readily available after
g_dbus_proxy_new_finish call. This will also allow us to get rid of
  the InfoRequest() method.

Status in Unity:
  Fix Committed
Status in Unity 7.2 series:
  In Progress
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  To reproduce:

  0) Have at least one application window open
  1) Enter launcher keynav mode with Alt+F1

   * Note that when entering keynav mode, the application loses focus.
THe triangle to the right of it's launcher icon is no longer drawn,
and the window title is not displayed in the panel.

  2) Select a launcher icon with the Up or Down keys.
  3) Show the quicklist by pressing Right.

   * Note that the application becomes active again - it's window title
is drawn to the panel, and the triangle to the right of the launcher
  icon is drawn again.

  4) Collapse the quicklist by pressing Left.

   * The app loses focus again.

This seems like inconsistent behavior to me... either the app should never
lose focus when we enter keynav mode, or should not be activated when we show a
quicklist.

On all three of my machines, org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop is the one with

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1302462] Re: network icon disappeared in xubuntu

2015-04-01 Thread Hamid Asmat
To FIx this problem we just have to change a value in "nm-
applet.desktop" file that is available in /etc folder. what u have to is
to change one value

1. first enter this command in terminal

sudo gedit /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop

2. when the file is opened change the value of ICON as below

   original value of ICON=nm-device-wireless

  converted value is

   ICON=nm-applet
3. save the file and Reboot

after reboot you will see the wifi indicator .

I can bring the icon into the panel by running "sudo nm-applet",
unfortunately this still isn't functional since any interactive dialog

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1163459] Re: Dragging the Nautlius "Home" Button is ignored by the XdndManager and has "text/url-list"

2015-04-01 Thread Christopher Townsend
I notice the first time dragging the Home button, the Launcher will dim
and only a few icons will remain lit. However, after that, the Launcher
will not dim anymore until the nautilus process is restarted and then
the Launcher will dim again.

I really wonder if this is an issue in Nautilus...

Bug description:
  To reproduce:
  1: Open Nautlius
2: Drag the "Home" Button that is part of the current path you are on.
3: Drag the button over the launcher

This button still has the "text/uri-list" as part of its mimes, but
the XdndManager doesn't pick up that it is moving, as the launcher
icons should dim right when you start dragging it. As you see nothing
gets dimmed, and moving it over the launcher causes it to get stuck.

So this could be a bug in Nautlius, or somewhere between where we get
the mimes from nux and the XdndManager.cpp

It looks like nautlius does not create an Xwindow for the dragging of
the Home button. This means the XdndManager doesn't know about it. So
we need to figure out a way to tell if the XdndManager knows about the
drag, if it doesn't know about the Dnd ignore it in the launcher.

This could possibly be done by check if we have got to StartDnd, which
only gets called by the XdndManager.

snooze activate when the phone is turned over, or something like that,
to assist with preventing accidental alarm switch off.

Bug description:
Imagine a scenario where you have a calendar event or a clock alarm to
go of at 10:00. If you get a call at the same time, then obviously the
call gets the highest priority and the alarm or calendar audible
notification is suppressed by the system. So a phone user can actually
  miss the event.

This can be resolved by turning the alarm icon shown in the indicator
to blue similar to messages to indicate that an alarm or event was
  missed by the user.

  ---

  Desired solution:

The alarm icon turns its state to active like notification
center/messages indicator as suggested in the bug description.

No, I can't confirm that issue, nautilus.desktop has NoDisplay=true and
shouldn't show in the dash, not sure why it does for you

@Colin, org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop is the new name

Bug description:
tl;dr; Unity doesn't emit the ActiveChanged signal when the screen is
  locked/unlocked

  Long version:

unity-settings-daemon's automount plugin has code to detect whether
the screen is locked or not before automatically mounting a volume.
This prevents someone from inserting a USB thumb drive when the screen
is locked and exploiting a possible nautilus thumbnailer
vulnerability. (See bug #714958 for original implementation details.)

In Ubuntu 14.04, this code no longer works. Inserting a USB thumb
drive while the screen is locked results in a Nautilus window opening
underneath the lock screen, and the contents of the USB thumb drive
  being read.

Since the screen lock got switched to Unity in Ubuntu 14.04, Unity no
longer emits the org.gnome.ScreenSaver ActiveChanged signal when the
  screen gets locked or unlocked.

  To test:

  1- in terminal, type:
  dbus-monitor
"type='signal',sender='org.gnome.ScreenSaver',interface='org.gnome.ScreenSaver'"
  2- Lock the screen
  3- Unlock the screen
4- Notice that no signal was received

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1437767] Re: Icons contain pixellated artifacts

Thank you for your bug report, I don't see anything really wrong on that
screenshot, not that some recent fixes landed,
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/humanity-icon-theme/0.6.8 ... could
you try if that's still an issue? In any case probably not an unity
issue since the security icon in the settings has nothing to do with
unity code
