[Dx-packages] [Bug 1445106] Re: Notifications turn the screen on

2015-04-19 Thread Sigurt Bladt Dinesen
Great, thanks.
If anyone might be interested, I would suggest using the proximity sensor, if
present, to check whether it makes sense to turn on the screen.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1167453] Re: Apps should have a way to disable HUD

2015-04-19 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
Now that the Bug #1159249 is resolved for both 14.04 LTS and 15.04 I
think this bug should get at least a higher priority.

Some users already hit this bug and they were even convinced that HUD
never worked on top of fullscreen windows. This is thread from
Development Version section of Ubuntu Forums.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2273486

Obviously there were be many more users hitting this bug now that HUD
actually works on top of fullscreen windows.

Also there are at least three very popular games that use Alt key in
their default setup for something. Those are Torchlight and Torchlight
II (display of items) and apparently Dota 2.

Workarounds for users involve disabling HUD entirely or disabling it
before launching the game and then enabling it again after. This is of
course very user unfriendly.

Bug description:
Please hide/don't display HUD in fullscreen applications. Because this
can be very annoying when you run the program in full screen, and HUD
suddenly appears when you are busy. One example is that when you Is
gaming, and you press the ALT button. Your whole game is minimized to
  display HUD.

Really?
I do not know how the sensor works exactly.
I assume it is optical, and thought maybe it could register the proximity of
my pocket lining? :)
