Title:
Dash does not keep source the filtered results (Ubuntu 14.04-15.10)

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The dash can remember the settings for filtered results for the entire
session, but not beyond that.
For example, in the application lens I want to disable the Software center
source in the list of the available apps. I can do this by going to the filter
button and click on the local app source. But If I log out and then log in,
this setting is reverted to the default behavior (i.e. display both local and
available apps).

doesn't proceed after a given time. So after running 'gnome-session-

  the system will never shutdown.

In old dialog (= 12.10) there was a countdown starting at 60sec which

The dbus method which triggers the dialog indicate that there is such a
function:

  method void org.gnome.SessionManager.EndSessionDialog.Open(uint type, uint
arg_1, uint max_wait, QListQDBusObjectPath inhibitors)

I'd expect 'max_wait' is seconds until proceed shutdown. But it
  doesn't work.

  -
I know there is an alternative with 'sudo shutdown -h now' and I also know
how to make that sudo command password-less. But that would only work on my own
system. I need this functionality for a OSS project where I don't want to mess

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1108064] Re: HUD messes up application's Alt key bindings

report in Blender bug tracker for detail:

  http://projects.blender.org/tracker/?func=detailatid=498aid=33831group_id=9

When pressing Alt key, Blender receives unnecessary FocusOut and
FocusIn events, so Blender immediately forgets the Alt key is pressed
down. Blender developer was very angry with Unity's such strange
  behavior.

In Emacs, after select a region, Alt key press sometimes cancels the

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1469071] Re: Tick boxes appear inside-out in indicator pulldowns (highlighting is upside down)

2015-06-30 Thread Loïc Molinari
Could be a bug in the toolkit where the UbuntuShape computes its
rendering data based on the phone orientation. Maybe the initial
orientation is wrong and gets fixed as soon as there's a first
orientation event. Have you tried to keep it in the same orientation
from boot to first use?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1470033] [NEW] Pressing Enter on the Reply to SMS field of the SMS notification will clear the notification and erase the typed text, but the reply is not sent.

2015-06-30 Thread Stunts
Public bug reported:

When recieving an SMS in ubuntu touch, you can reply to this text message in
the notification area directly.
However, if you press enter to add a newline, the text you have just typed
gets deleted, the reply closed, just like as if you had pressed send, but no
message gets sent.
This happens on my BQ Aqauris E4.5 with all the latest updates.

Bug description:
Few days ago, I updated my system from Ubuntu Updater. When the
process finished, Unity desktop freezed, although the mouse pointer
was still responsive. I did a system reboot, but once when my session
  was open:

  1. Unity launcher was freezed, with no icons (white squares were placed
instead of them).
  2. Global menu was freezed.
  3. No icons in the right-upper corner of the screen (wifi indicator, keyboard
language button, bluetooth icon, etc, wheren't displayed).
  4. Mouse pointer was responsive, it didn't freeze.
  5. When the icons of the top bar finally appeared, they reacted very slowly
to the mouse clicks.

I tried to solve this issue with sudo apt-get install --reinstall
  ubuntu-desktop, but it didn't work.

Bug description:
  On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS:

1 - Use Unity Tweak Tool to set the top bar transparency 100% → It work
2 - Add a new screen on your computer and extend the desktop to your 2
screens, or just enable a disabled screen.
→ The primary screen have a normal top bar, but the second screen have a top
bar with very little opacity and wrong color.

The top bar of the second screen flashes in function of the position
of the cursor (on the top bar or not), and the Window who have the
  focus.

The only way to not have the bug is to start the desktop with 2
screens without changing resolution or position of the screens.

Bug description:
Just tried to drag and drop a file between two maximized Nautilus
windows in Ubuntu 12.04, Unity 5.12.0 - did not work. When I hovered
the mouse over the launcher nothing happened.

Seems like a regression, as I tried it in Unity 3.8.16, Ubuntu 11.04
also, and it worked fine - the launcher exposed both the windows and
let me drag and drop the file to the desired window.

The dash can remember the settings for filtered results for the entire

button and click on the local app source. But If I log out and then log in,
this setting is reverted to the default behavior (i.e. display both local and

It would be nice to be able to close windows while scrolling them in

It would be nice to enter the switcher with Alt+Tab and then (holding
Alt as for the command Alt+`) having a combination like Alt+q that
  closes the focused window.

Bug description:
  1. Hold down Alt and keep it held down.
  2. Press and release the key above Tab (Grave, or `). Keep alt held down.

While Alt is held down, the drop shadows for the window or windows of
the current application will keep building up and then going back to
normal and building up again. It's almost as though the windows are
being redrawn may times per second into a buffer without clearing it
first each time (but clearing it every second or so).

While this is happening, I notice that the drop shadow for the top bar
does the same thing. This can also be observed if one uses Alt-Tab to
select an app that has multiple windows that then expand out into a
  similar display.

I've observed this on systems with Intel, NVIDIA, and ATI display hardware,
so I don't think it's hardware-specific.
All my Ubuntu systems have 2 or 3 monitors. I suspect multiple monitors are
needed to reproduce this.

Bug description:
My ThinkPad T43 works quite well with Ubuntu 12.04, but with a clean
install of 12.10, Unity is slow (I can type in the Unity Dash Home and
then count the seconds as my letters slowly appear in sequence),
sometimes freezes (when I close an application, the icon becomes faded
in the Dash but doesn't disappear, and the application window just
stays on the screen but I can't interact with it), and text develops
little lines through it after suspend and resume (this was also
present in 12.04 and can be fixed with a modification to the
xorg.conf... something about debug-wait... but it would be nice if I
didn't have to make that change on the whole batch of T43's I'm going
  to sell).

Bug description:
tl;dr; Unity doesn't emit the ActiveChanged signal when the screen is
  locked/unlocked

  Long version:

unity-settings-daemon's automount plugin has code to detect whether
the screen is locked or not before automatically mounting a volume.
This prevents someone from inserting a USB thumb drive when the screen
is locked and exploiting a possible nautilus thumbnailer
vulnerability. (See bug #714958 for original implementation details.)

In Ubuntu 14.04, this code no longer works. Inserting a USB thumb
drive while the screen is locked results in a Nautilus window opening
underneath the lock screen, and the contents of the USB thumb drive
  being read.

Since the screen lock got switched to Unity in Ubuntu 14.04, Unity no
longer emits the org.gnome.ScreenSaver ActiveChanged signal when the
  screen gets locked or unlocked.

  To test:

  1- in terminal, type:
  dbus-monitor
type='signal',sender='org.gnome.ScreenSaver',interface='org.gnome.ScreenSaver'
  2- Lock the screen
  3- Unlock the screen
4- Notice that no signal was received

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1457910] Re: Unity panels steal input events while under (some) fullscreen windows

Thanks for the report, I'm trying to figure Mh, so... I don't get this

Can you give me the output for

?

Unity panels steal input events while under (some) fullscreen windows

Status in Unity:

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:

I have 3x 1920x1080 monitors arranged horizontally. Unity is configured to
duplicate the launcher on every monitor.

  Video cards:

  2x AMD R270 in CrossfireX
Driver: fglrx-updates (because the open source driver would always kill my X
session when I open any LibreOffice app)

  Description:

When telling an application to go full screen, it is correctly
displayed full screen; however, when clicking in that full screen
window, the Unity panels (hidden underneath) will steal its input
  events.

  Problems with:

   - Chromium playing any YouTube video full screen
   - VMware Player in full screen mode

  No problem with:

   - Chromium browsing any website while in full screen browsing mode (e.g.
pressing F11)
   - Chromium playing any YouTube video full screen *after* pressing F11 to put
browser in full screen mode
   - Default movie player playing video in full screen mode

As a layman, it appears there are multiple methods for an application to go
full screen, and at least one of those methods is not handled properly by
either Unity or something related to the window manager.

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
When I login with last day password, all ok. But when I locked screen, I
can't unlock it, receive error «Invalid password, please try again».
  I think, this bug more globally — «unity-panel-service --lockscreen-mode»
does not have function for changing user password.

  How to reproduce:

You need working LDAP-server and Ubuntu with LDAP client. My client,
  Ubuntu 14.04:

  cat EOF |
  ldap-auth-config ldap-auth-config/dbloginboolean
false
  ldap-auth-config ldap-auth-config/dbrootloginboolean
false
  ldap-auth-config ldap-auth-config/ldapns/ldap-server string
ldap://ldap/
  ldap-auth-config ldap-auth-config/ldapns/ldap_versionselect
3
  ldap-auth-config ldap-auth-config/move-to-debconfboolean
true
  ldap-auth-config ldap-auth-config/ldapns/base-dn string
dc=example,dc=com
  nslcd nslcd/ldap-base string
dc=example,dc=com
  nslcd nslcd/ldap-uris string
ldap://ldap/
  libnss-ldapd libnss-ldapd/nsswitch
multiselect group, passwd, shadow
  EOF
  debconf_answers_ldap.dat

  sudo debconf-set-selections debconf_answers_ldap.dat
  sudo apt-get install libnss-ldapd libpam-ldap nss-updatedb libnss-db
libpam-ccreds nscd libpam-cracklib

  And create file /usr/share/pam-configs/mkhomedir:

  Name: activate mkhomedir
  Default: yes
  Priority: 900
  Session-Type: Additional
  Session:
   required pam_mkhomedir.so umask=0022 skel=/etc/skel

  Then run:
  sudo pam-auth-update

  Count todays number:
  echo $(($(date --utc --date $1 +%s)/86400))
  For example, 16587.
In LDAP, add user account with attribute shadowMax=10 and
shadowLastChange=16577.
Try to login in Ubuntu. All ok. No errors, no messages.
  Now lock the screen (Ctrl+Alt+L).
Try to unlock screen — you can't. You see error «Invalid password, please try
again».

  Workaround:
Login to guest account and change user to myself.

  Expected:
  - Focus goes back to the main window.

  What happens:
  - Focus goes to the detached view.

I think this is a unity bug because I did the same test under Fedora 22
(Gnome 3), Lubuntu and Kubuntu and all of them presented the expected behaviour.
Also, while I was editing some screenshots using gimp in multi window mode,
something even stranger happened:
After doing step 8 on eclipse, the focus did not even go to eclipse, it went
to one of the gimp windows.

Also I tried to disable all compiz plugins that unity does not depend
on, but the behaviour kept the same.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1458995] Re: black squares instead of window shadows. missing title bar and buttons

2015-06-30 Thread Treviño
MNhmh... It looks like that all the compiz aren't properly rendered...
That's weird.

Do you get the same in other compiz plugins (when doing Super+s or
Super+W?), or in Alt+` or Alt+Tab in detail mode?

As workaround, you can just use

compiz --replace

Or, if that won't work:

COMPIZ_CONFIG_PROFILE=ubuntu compiz --replace

  Problems with:

   - Chromium playing any YouTube video full screen
   - VMware Player in full screen mode

  No problem with:

   - Chromium browsing any website while in full screen browsing mode (e.g.
pressing F11)
   - Chromium playing any YouTube video full screen *after* pressing F11 to put

As a layman, it appears there are multiple methods for an application to go
full screen, and at least one of those methods is not handled properly by
either Unity or something related to the window manager.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1457910] Re: Unity panels steal input events while under (some) fullscreen windows

2015-06-30 Thread Michael Matthews
I'd like to add that my comment (#2) is not correct. The bug went away
for a while when I set the launcher to only show up on one display, but
the bug later began happening regardless of the option. It's
intermittent. Sometimes a program will go full screen correctly; other
times the Unity panels will steal the full screen program's input.

Zealand. I do live in the US, but I want to set the regional format in
Korean because that goes with the system language. I currently set the
regional format to that of Canada because I am not familiar with US
system of yards, feet and pounds. As you can see in the attached
screenshot, the date format shown on the middle of the task bar is a
mixture of English and Korean (Frankenstein-ish).

As I browsed through the bug report launchpad site, I found this bug
has a long history which dates back to Ubuntu version 9.04. I have
installed Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS on my other computer and it does not
have the same bug. I guess it has something to do with the newly
  introduced systemd?

I would very much like to see this bug is fixed ASAP (at least before
the release of 15.04 proper version). I love GNOME interface, but this
  bug annoys me. Regards.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1468820] Re: close windows from switcher [wishlist]

2015-06-30 Thread Daniele Bigoni
Right now I don't have time to contribute, but if you give me a couple
of tips I could try to do it in the coming months.

Is there a tutorial on how to contribute (like where to branch and standard
testing procedures)?
Where are the switcher actions defined?

  close windows from switcher [wishlist]

Status in Unity:

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
It would be nice to be able to close windows while scrolling them in
the switcher. When one has to close many windows, it gets a little
annoying to have to go through all of them one at a time.

It would be nice to enter the switcher with Alt+Tab and then (holding
Alt as for the command Alt+`) having a combination like Alt+q that
  closes the focused window.
