In practice, datetime currently has clock-app hardwired for dispatching alarms (dispatch_url('appid://com.ubuntu.clock/clock /current-user-version')) and calendar-app for everything else (dispatch_url('appid://com.ubuntu.calendar/calendar/current-user- version')). There are two use cases that can be supported by datetime handling the URL property http://www.kanzaki.com/docs/ical/url.html: (1) Clicking on an alarm menuitem opens up clock-app to that specific alarm, rather than to clock-app's main page. Clock-app could specify the information it needs in the URL, then open the right page when passed that information later. indicator-datetime would act as a simple pass-through. (2) non-calendar, non-alarm items such as from the reminders app as requested by mzanetti. The pattern would be the same as clock-app: Reminders would add whatever URL it wants, then datetime would act as a simple pass-through. This is preferable to adding more special cases to indicator-datetime. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1475623] Re: zeitgeist ftbfs with GCC 5
I think the issue is the std::string object is going out of scope in the tests. The tests are like this: g_assert_cmpstr (std::string (scheme_no_spaces_in_uris), ==, StringUtils::MangleUri(scheme:no spaces in uris).c_str ()); Inside the g_assert_cmpstr macro the two strings are stored in variables. Nothing is left holding the result of MangleUri () so the result from c_str () is no longer valid. I decided to investigate this problem and checked out the source code. After a lot of debugging I found out that the call to focus the wrong window is coming from compiz CompScreenImpl::focusDefaultWindow which comes from this code on compiz event.cpp : else if (event-xfocus.window == privateScreen.rootWindow()) { /* Don't ever let the focus go to the root * window except in grab cases * * FIXME: There might be a case where we have to * handle root windows of other screens here, but * the other window managers should handle that */ if (event-xfocus.detail == NotifyDetailNone || (event-xfocus.mode == NotifyNormal event-xfocus.detail == NotifyInferior)) { privateScreen.orphanData.activeWindow = None; if (event-xfocus.detail == NotifyDetailNone || (event-xfocus.mode == NotifyNormal event-xfocus.detail == NotifyInferior)) { screen-focusDefaultWindow (); } } } The FIXME comment is very suspicious but I have no idea what would be the solution. Perhaps full flexibility in specifying a duration (some times I like to use 15m, but I guess more than 30 or 60 minutes would be too much). https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1JvDyhsW17d1-Mz8OY1YMBKwfRI2z9qgyRjbujEsxEMk/edit?pli=1#slide=id.g18895458d_024 [UX Comment] As it seems unlikely that we will be able to implement snooze on/off snooze duration for individual alarms, but do have an application-wide setting that allows snooze duration to be set (but not disabled), I'd recommend the options relating to snooze in application settings be changed to the following: - No snooze - 5 minutes - 10 minutes - 15 minutes This way the list is still short (four options, as it is currently) but the options provided are likely to be more useful (current 2 minute snooze doesn't seem very useful, nor does the difference between 4 mins and 5 min snooze periods). [Dx-packages] [Bug 1272448] Re: December 2013 updates to 12.04 LTS cause multiple problems
I'm afraid your current report is impossible to act on for any developer so I will close it. Please open one ticket for each problem you face. Please use the provided tools such as ubuntu-bug to report your problems and have additional information included automatically. ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Rolf Leggewie (r0lf) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272448 Title: December 2013 updates to 12.04 LTS cause multiple problems Status in Unity: New Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: December 2013 and January 2014 updates have caused numerous usability problems. Some disappear, then reappear. All the following are current. 1. Firefox and Thunderbird no longer find internet connection when connected wirelessly. System reports wireless connection is established and working, but neither FF nor TB cab find it. Wired connection works OK. This problem first appeared in early December and has continued to date (January 24, 2014). 2. Booting HP Pavilion dv6 laptop fails when external power is connected. Boots OK on battery alone. Bug reported. Problem appeared after January 1, 2014. 3. Firefox loses tab history -- it's still there, but inaccessable unless I reboot. Long-standing issue. 4. Right-click no longer works in Firefox. Can't copy or cut-and- paste. 5. After running for more than a few hours, Firefox window frames become transparent and Firefox no longer works. 6. When using LibreOffice, screen updates cause brief, but very annoying, display flashing or blanking. Blanking is sometimes extended up to ten seconds. (AMD A-8 quad-core processor with 6 GB main memory!). Very alarming. 7. Lost ability to scroll, etc. using gestures shortly after January 1, 2014. 8. Unity magically appearing/disappearing scroll tabs replaced Gnome's hard scrollbars. That's not nice. I don't like them. 9. Firefox never, ever restores automagically (though it always did in 10.04 LTS and does on Linux Mint). This issue has been outstanding for two years, or more. No biggie, but it's annoying and very unprofessional. Two bugs reported on this vs. Oneric! C'mon, people. Surely you can do better than that. This system is single-boot Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Gnome 3/Unity on an ext4 filesystem, installed about August 6, 2012 and kept up to date. What happened to the concept that 12.04 was to be a stable release? This is the most unstable *n*x OS release I have ever used since 1999 (SuSE 5 through 8, Ubuntu 8.04, 10.04, Mint 13 and 14). This nonsense makes Microsoft Windows almost seem desirable. I also use Linux Mint 14 on other boxes, an HP Pavilion dv7 and a Dell Optiplex GX620. None of these issues affect Mint 14, although it is based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Mint 14 has its own issues, but none affect usability like these do). Unity sucks stumpwater.
