Unfortunately we've some backlog to land, but we're looking into getting
this to trunk ASAP and backport to trusty

Unity Lockscreen still shows unlocked desktop while shutting down

Status in Unity:

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
This was reported and supposedly fixed in
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1370017, but the
bug is still present in the current Unity version in Trusty. I've
reported it in that bug already, but got ignored, so I'm opening a new
  bug about it.

  [Impact and Test Case]

  Steps to reproduce:
  1 - Log into Unity
  2 - Open a terminal.
  3 - Lock the screen
4 - From the lockscreen, tell the computer to shut down / restart

  Expected behavior:
  * Session programs are closed while the screen is still locked
  * During shutdown, no user interaction is possible

  Observed behavior:
  * The lockscreen is gone immediately, with the rest of compiz (e.g. window
decorations are not present)
  * But it's possible to interact with programs that are still running in the
session for about 3 seconds

Observed on an updated Trusty machine, running unity version
  7.2.5+14.04.20150521.1-0ubuntu1

This bug is a security vulnerability because during those 3 seconds it
could be possible to access and interact with sensitive information.
Yes, it's short, but you could take a picture or even rm -rf / if
there happened to be a root console available.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1372254] Re: New Event in Calendar app not scheduled for the correct time zone.

2015-08-17 Thread Nicolas
Hi,

I am impacted by a very similar bug.

Configuration: Mako OTA 5 rev 22 installed on a Nexus 4.
Timezone: Europe/Paris (UTC+2)

Step to reproduce (calendar view is week or day, say for example week)
1) Launch Calendar
2) Tap on the screen on a day D, hour H. A new event is created without title,
at day D hour H
3) Double tap on the event. This goes to the event screen edition. Do not
modify the event, just validate.
4) After validation, the application returns to the week view. The event has
been moved to day D, H-2 (in my case, I imagine that is because I am in UTC+2
timezone).

Expected behaviour:
4) After validation, the application returns to the week view. The event is
still at day D, hour H

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1478506] Re: Apps change audio output role all the time

2015-08-17 Thread Xavi Garcia
The main problem I've found when testing this bug is that every sound played
from the Maroon in trouble opens and closes the pulse audio sink to play
every single sound.
What we experience then is that the role is changing from alert to
multimedia just for less than a second and you can see the sound slider at
the indicator moving from 100% to the alert role volume.

You don't have the time to change the volume of the game, because it
uses the multimedia role for a very short period of time, and even you
modify the multimedia role volume every sound that comes from that game
is set to 100% when we read it using pulse.

I have a workaround branch, that stores volumes for every role and set
the current volume for the multimedia sink when any sound of that role
comes in. I'm not fully convinced by that approach, so I've opened a bug
in pulse-audio to see why we get 100% volume for the sounds coming from
the game.

hardware button on the phone. It will temporarily decrease the volume.
However, whenever a new item comes into the scene, it will be on 100%
  volume again.

Setting the system volume to 0 should keep everything at 0.

Please note that this app does *not* have any code to set the volume! Also
this app is one of the upstream Qt QML example demo apps, so this is really how
QML apps are supposed to work (in other words, it is not a badly implemented
app, but really an issue in the system)

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1169054] Re: Disabling then Re-Enabling login without password does not remove user from nopasswdlogin group

Problem still present in 14.04 LTS
A family member inadvertently changed their User Account to Login without

Bug description:
  I am using 12.04.

Under System Settings, User Accounts, Passwords, Action, changing to
Login without a password works as expected. On the next login,
LightDM will not prompt you for a password, You can just login by
  hitting Enter.

But, re-enabling password, or changing a password for the same user
does not change LightDM behavior. LightDM does not re-enable asking
  for password at login.

I think the problem is re-enabling password under Systems Settings
does not delete user from nopasswdlogin group. You have to delete it
  from the command line:

  sudo gpasswd -d username nopasswdlogin

This problem is the same ones described here:

On a log out/in the cursor is almost always invisible until mouse is moved.
(unless made visible in greeter screen, then visible on Desktop

This is all well good, maybe some intentional aesthetics/design
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=687791) , however sometimes the
cursor never becomes visible.
In that case hitting some keys or context menu can cause it to show, though
most times a log out is needed.
(with the removal of ctrl+alt+delete log out this means most users will
need to either blindly find the session indicator or hit power button.

When the g-s-d cursor plugin is disabled then the cursor is always
visible, it the plugin has no use in an ubuntu session then maybe it
  should be default disabled

There is also the possibility, particularly on ssd drives, of a login
with no session indicator. This occasionally combines with no visible
  cursor.

In Ubuntu 14.04 you can enable the option Show the menus for a window
  in the window's title bar.

The problem is that when I've multiple windows open the hover menu doesn't
appear on unfocused windows.
Since this option should be a equivalent for the old behavior these should
definitely show.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1478506] Re: Apps change audio output role all the time

2015-08-17 Thread Oliver Grawert
If we would have a volume-slider Qt/QML element that allows you to pick the
role it manages you could have a volume control in the app (like i described in
bug #1389761) ...
that would indeed not fix indicator sound (or volume button) behaviour unless
you limit its focus to certain roles.

To reproduce, install the app Maroon in trouble from the app store
and play it a little with having sound enabled. Press the volume down
hardware button on the phone.

  Unity panel should be transparent

Bug description:
This is not exactly a bug, but more of a wishlist entry. The top
panel/global menu bar would look nicer if it was transparent by
default. I always use the compiz settings manager to set Unity's panel
opacity to 0, because it really does make a big aesthetic difference
to the desktop. The fully-opaque, dark-grey menu bar just looks a bit
last-decade. Also, when transitioning between the new lock screen
(LightDM), or when opening the Unity Dash, the way the panel suddenly
switches from being dark grey to transparent is pretty jarring. That's
how I feel anyway. So making the panel transparent (not *completely*
transparent though, you should still see the bar going across) would
not only make LightDM and Ubuntu feel more like one entity, but it
would look nicer/more modern, and the transitioning between the Unity
Dash and the new lock screen would look more seamless and natural as
  well.

  Just a suggestion. Thanks. ^^

In unity, if I drag some app icon on the launcher, it will be removed
  from the dash.

  While I am running a task manager from a ssh -X *** session(eg.
running a X app through ssh tunnal), I find I can't start a local task
manager. Because it is in on the launcher and showing it is running,
and I can't start a new one, while it is removed from the dash, I
can't start it from the dash either.

With a Bluetooth mouse connected, the Bluetooth indicator won't change
