Title:
drop unity-voice dependency from HUD, remove unity-voice from archives

Status in hud package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
It'd be useful for hud not to depend on unity-voice anymore.
Optionally, unity-voice could be removed from archives and kept only
as a code repository on Launchpad until it's needed again.

pete-woods Mirv: unity-voice technically isn't used any more
   pete-woods unity-voice has a dependency, though
pete-woods so would need to remove that from HUD first
pete-woods then you will also get space savings from the voice definition
files
pete-woods Mirv: it's not used, because there is no UI to invoke the voice
recognition any more
pete-woods after HUD was pulled from the phone

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1313248] Re: Ctrl+[Key] Shortcuts Assigned in QtCreator Do Not Work

2015-08-21 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1380702 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1380702

Hello everyone,

I will mark this bug as a duplicate of another one (a newer one
actually) since that one is more 'generic'. It's an issue with appmenu-
qt5 and Qt5... more details in bug #1380702.

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1380702
No keyboards shortcuts in QT apps

Title:
Ctrl+[Key] Shortcuts Assigned in QtCreator Do Not Work

Status in appmenu-qt5 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I recompiled one of my Qt applications tonight on Ubuntu 14.04. This
application uses QActions that are are set up in the mainwindow.ui
file. (I originally did this with QtDesigner some two year ago, but
have updated the application for Qt 5 in the mean time.)

When appmenu-qt5 is installed, the Ctrl+[key] shortcuts of the actions
on the main menubar do not work. If I remove appment-qt5, they do work
  as expected.

Oddly enough, the edit actions on the edit dialog do work, but they
are disabled and enabled multiple times.

I tried disabling and enabling the actions on the main menubar in code
which didn't help. I also tried assigning the short cut keys via code
  and that did not help.

  I am using 14.04 LTS, appmenu-qt5 0.3.0+14.04.20140415-0ubuntu1, and
the Qt program found at https://github.com/Dyrcona/omiquji

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
This is a regression which has appeared either in 14.10 or 15.04, as
  it didn't exist in 14.04.

This is 100% systematically reproducible for me.

  1. have a few windows of the same program open, for example, three terminal
windows
  2. make sure all of them are visible and one is focused
  3. hit Ctrl+Super+D so that all windows are hidden and the desktop is shown
  4. click on the terminal icon (or the icon of whatever example program we are
testing the issue against) on the Launcher
= one of the windows becomes visible, foreground and focused, as expected.
But suppose you want to switch to one of the other ones
  5. click on the launcher icon again
  6. pick any window other than the one that was focused in the previous step

Expected result: that window should be brought to front and given
  focus

  Observed result:
the window does the animation as if it was going to be brought to front, but
then vanishes, and is not visible at all
the previous window is still on the foreground but no longer focused.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1430059] Re: LyX menu is not updated by indicator-appmenu in mode unity-all-menus

2015-08-21 Thread Liviu Andronic
@Łukasz Great to hear that. I would love to hear whether the Trusty
backport helps with this issue (or maybe if no one is encountering this
issue on Trusty)...

@Marco I hope others can test this. I'm using Xfce, so never bumped into
this. But our LyX community was hardly hit, so I attempted a
quick'n'dirty backport (which seemingly worked).

  Expected:
  * when using a mailto: URL (see bug #1351222) URL, the user should be asked
which app to open (and cache the response optionally?)

  Current:
  * not sure what would happen ;)

  Design resolution _

Case 1: If no email client is installed and a user clicks on a 'mail
to' link, the user should be prompted to download the Dekko app.

Case 2: If the user has Dekko installed, then clicking on the 'mail
to' link should open the Dekko client -- compose mail screen to the
  'mail to' address.

Case 3: If the user has Dekko and Gmail installed, the 'mail to' link
by default should open in the Dekko client. However, the user can
change their mail client preferences in system settings.

Case 4: If the user has Gmail and another mail client installed, the
'mail to' link should default to the first client that was installed
on their device (which would be the default mail client preference in
system settings - this can be changed by the user via system
  settings).

  Notes:
  1. Wherever the user has not actively changed a mail client preference and
Dekko is installed on their device, the default 'mail to' client should be
Dekko.
  2. When clicking on a 'mail to' link, the user's expectation is to have this
link open in a relevant client (unless it is case 1), therefore this should be
the case and any mail preference choices the user can perform via system
settings rather than being presented with multiple choice options of which
client to open the URL in.

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/URLDispatcher: Whenever the URL dispatcher
is called on to open an address that multiple apps have registered
for, it should open a “Use App” dialog, with a centered grid of
labelled buttons with the icon for each applicable app, followed by a
  “Cancel” button.

I think the bug is in Nautilus, but the search field says there are

Enclosed is the text at http://askubuntu.com/questions/136397

seeing this issue, so I decided it's time to file a bug. Plus, as a

together with the bad feeling I have with Unity, will probably force
me to try other distributions, like Mint.

  [text updated 2012-05-31 by tbc0]
I run Ubuntu Desktop in a VirtualBox seamless mode, hosted on Windows 7. I
recently upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 and seamless mode no longer works
correctly. I have re-installed guest extensions.

The problem is that the Ubuntu desktop wallpaper is shown, effectively
blocking the Windows desktop. I can bring Windows apps to the
foreground, but as soon as I bring any Ubuntu window to the
foreground, all the windows apps will disappear, hidden by the ubuntu
desktop even if I activated an Ubuntu window in a different monitor.
So, it is not very much different from full-screen mode at this time.

I suspect if I could turn off the Ubuntu desktop or wallpaper this
would be a sufficient workaround (this is basically what Seamless mode
is) but that does not seem to be possible within Ubuntu itself.

[Jeremy doesn't specify system config, but I can confirm I'm seeing
this behavior in Win 7 64-bit with both 32-bit and 64-bit guests.
Giovanni sees the same thing on his laptop running Vista Ultimate 64
bit after upgrading his 32-bit guest to 12.04 (forums.virtualbox.org
p225407, requires logging in with your free Oracle account). I was
using vbox 4.1.14r77440 and matching Guest Additions. I upgraded to
  4.1.16-78094 vbox+additions. Still a problem. And I filed launchpad
bug 29 to see if I can get feedback from developers. – tbc0]

  Any other ideas?

Bug description:
Possible to manually set display brightness to 0 on Ubuntu Touch

It is possible to move the brightness slider to the very left
position, which will set the display brightness of affected device to
  zero, or, to total darkness.

This is a bug, since this leads to user's inability to set the brightness
back or, generally, to operate the device.
There is a slight chance, though, to return the brightness back to non-zero
value (blindly, trying by user's memory).

Also, this gets even more problematic, if we think about a scenario, where
such Ubuntu device is locked by a PIN.
User has to try to unlock the device on the dark screen, open the top panel
with settings, scroll to the far right (to access the brightness settings), and
then trying to hit the correct slider - all on a dark screen.

  This happened on Aquaris E5.

Also, reminders are not muted when the phone is in silent mode (I
  guess it's related).

I'm on bq Aquaris, r20 and with the latest calendar-app.

  --- --- --- ---
  UX Comment:

Calendar Notifications need to be overhauled:
-- Calendar Notifications are displayed for too brief a period and should
conform to the same timing as other notifications.

-- Calendar Notifications are not currently appearing in the
notification tray within indicators and should be.

-- Calendar Notification title is misleading ('Alarm') and should make
clear that the notification relates to a calendar event ('Event') and
  not a alarm-clock event.

-- Calendar Notification's should NOT override silent mode (unlike
clock-alarms) although the notification should still be displayed,
appear in the notification within indicators and cause the device to
vibrate (if enabled) - This is accepted/common behaviour for
notifications of this type on mobile.
