[Dx-packages] [Bug 1433013] Re: Super -> exec vs Alt-F2 -> exec have different environment

2015-08-27 Thread ltsampros
Is there any update on this issue? Is there any remedy or workaround
since alt-f2 is widely used?

(After all the ssh-agent/gnome-keyring trouble this is pretty
embarrassing)

Bug description:
upstart in user session manages environmental variables and most
things have them, however Alt-f2 started proccesses lack them.

  to test

Super Key -> "xterm" -> Enter -> env | grep SSH

  vs

  Alt+F2 -> "xterm" -> Enter -> env | grep SSH

via Super Key -> the environment is correct

via Alt-F2 -> it is not

I believe Alt+F2 code path should call into upstart dbus api to "list-env"
and import that environment before executing the search result.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1489640] [NEW] middle-mouse-click on titlebars to send window to bottom of the stack fails occasionally

2015-08-27 Thread Seth Arnold
Public bug reported:

I use unity 7 as a pseudo-tiling window manager: I slide terminals and
firefox to the sides of the screen to get them to automatically expand
to fill half of the screen space, similar to the Windows 7 feature.

I stack a firefox over urxvt on one side of the screen and use middle-
click on the title bar to send the top window to the bottom of the
stack.

This has failed twice in the last few weeks.

Thanks

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1430059] Re: LyX menu is not updated by indicator-appmenu in mode unity-all-menus

2015-08-27 Thread Brian Murray
Hello apvieira, or anyone else affected,

Accepted indicator-appmenu into vivid-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-
appmenu/15.02.0+15.04.20150821-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Title:
Mouse focus takes precedence over default focus when opening dash

Status in Unity:
  Confirmed
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
If the mouse cursor is located in the area where the dash appears when
it is opened, and happens to highlight an app/document/etc., this
mouse-highlighted action will be performed when pressing enter, rather
than the default action (say, opening the most recent app).

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Place mouse cursor in a location where it will highlight something in the
dash other than the default action
  2. Press keystroke to open dash (default: win-key)
  3. Press enter

  Expected results:
The default action is carried out (opening the most recent app or the first
app/document/etc. matching a previous search)

  Actual results:
The action highlighted by the mouse cursor is carried out.

Ideally, the mouse cursor should not highlight anything in the dash,
until the user moves the mouse. The current behaviour is entirely
counter-intuitive, especially if there is a previous search result (in
which case the search text is highlighted, further increasing
confusion, see also Bug #817436 which may or may nor be related).

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1074067] Re: geany kills unity on quantal

2015-08-27 Thread Will Cooke
Sorry folks, but as part of the bug clean up ahead of 16.04 I'm marking
this as invalid because it affects an Ubuntu release which is now
unsupported. If you can still recreate this bug in a supported release
please do open a new bug and we can triage it for consideration in the
16.04 development cycle.

Bug description:
There is no easy way to modify appearance of app launchers (icons,
text) or even add a new app into the app pool.

Years ago gnome panel had alacarte as a right click option to edit the
  launchers.

For new users it is impossible to guess that they need to install
alacarte to modify icons. Google even leeds them to modify .desktop
files directly in their home directory. That is sad.

It is the year 2013, please make it possible to do these actions

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1489513] [NEW] Mouse cursor stucks showing the loading roundel after startup

2015-08-27 Thread Dario Bertero
Public bug reported:

After startup, sometimes the mouse cursor keeps displaying the loading
roundel forever. This happens only when the cursor is hovering over
Unity, a Unity program or a GNOME program. When over a KDE program or
Firefox it shows the normal cursor, to change again when positioned in
another place.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1489037] Re: Change defaut alarm sound to "Alarm clock.ogg"

2015-08-27 Thread Nekhelesh Ramananthan
** Description changed:

With OTA-6 (as per bug 1354370), the default alarm sound has been
changed from "Suru arpeggio.ogg" to "Alarm clock.ogg". Indicator-
datetime will have to set this as default on its end.
+
+ Note: Clock App will set "Alarm clock.ogg" as the default alarm sound
+ for new alarms created by the user starting with clock app v3.5.362.
+ This bug is to ensure that the fallback alarm played by indicator-
+ datetime is also "Alarm clock.ogg" (which is used when the user sets an
+ invalid alarm tone).

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1477188] Re: Windows vanish after suspend/resume

2015-08-27 Thread James Tunnicliffe
I have added a couple of comments on bug #919437 since it seems related.
Digging it seems like the Compiz session management plugin may be to
blame for windows that don't appear on first launch. My comment about
this on bug #919437

If you install CompizConfig Settings Manager and disable the Session
Management plugin (under Utility) then your windows will return after
you log out and back in.

It seems that the session management plugin can return invalid data and
Unity expects it to do the right thing.

My guess is that http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~compiz-
team/compiz/0.9.12/view/head:/plugins/session/src/session.cpp
SessionScreen::readWindow needs some sanity checking as do the state
load and save functions.

I have still had windows vanish, normally Software Updaters automatic
run, but restarting the application now always fixes it with the Compiz
session manager disabled.

Title:
add option for alt-tab window grouping disable

Bug description:
Good day, thank you for your wonderful work on Unity, I find it very usable.
The only thing that bothers me is the window grouping, as described here:
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1826736

  quote:
MY Question is if its possible to disable the "Grouping" part... such as
having multiple nautilus windows.
Primarily thunderbird is the largest annoyance.. if im writing an email on my
laptop and accedentally (touchpad 'palming') off the 'compose message' window;
by default and second nature, my brain tells my fingers to alt-tab back into
it. unfortunately, this DOES NOT WORK!

Basically, I am trying to restore Alt+Tab functionality from Unity 2D. I
tried number of other switchers, all have their separate issues. For example,
Static Application Switcher does not show minimalized windows (or windows
hidden by the "show desktop" shortcut), etc.
  Thanks :)
