2015-09-30 Thread MV
Same version than you 64bits

Build id: 20150621-1200

Your right this is not obvious at all.

Comparing with the working UBUNTY_MENUPROXY=0 instance, you can see that
some sub-menu filled dynamically are all with their minimal menu list
(static items I guess) almost empty

For instance menu "File/New" should contain 18 menus items above
"others". If you select "others" nothing appear except, maybe, a crash

menu "window/view" more than 15 menu choices and nothing appear when
you select others.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1242112] Re: Shutdown/restart dialogue is not working if Cairo-Dock and its Launcher-API-Deamon are running or if another app is registered to LauncherEntry interface of Unity DBus

2015-09-30 Thread Rob
Mathew,
very sorry but the status updates from you are not so clear to me:
- I encounter the same problem on my Trusty 14.04.3 with "cairo-dock" version
3.4.0 (Cairo Dock autoloading on bootup, not possible to logout from Cairo)
- is there a fix for these versions (the delayed start suggested doesn't work,
likely because my Cairo is starting on bootup and not during user
session-start) ?
- do I need to upgrade to Ubuntu Utopic to have a fix included for Cairo ?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1501476] [NEW] datetime indicator spins out of control when clicking neighbor-month day

2015-09-30 Thread Chad Miller
Public bug reported:

Click the date indicator to get a calendar and list of schedule entries
for the highlighted, default day.

Notice the month grid of days. Assuming it doesn't fall evenly on week
boundaries, you'll see days from previous or following month in the
list.

Click on a day from another month.

Watch the selected month change, then rapidly switch to and fro in
months, pulling calendar items from evolution data store, re-rendering,
and burning CPU in three separate processes.

You can also walk ahead one month step, and then click backwards to a
margin day in contemporary month, but choosing the present day does not
trigger the bug, but any other day does.

2015-09-30 Thread Rob
oops, sorry I see my mistake: Cairo is of course not starting on bootup, but
indeed during user session start : I put an entry in /etc/xdg/autostart.
The workaround with a delayed start (by adding "X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=N" in
/etc/xdg/autostart/cairo-dock.desktop) doesn't work. It starts immediately
without any delay...

because it affects an Ubuntu release which is now unsupported. If you can still
recreate this bug in a supported release please do open a new bug and we can
triage it for consideration in the 16.04 LTS development cycle.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1501244] [NEW] indicator-session sporadically segfaults if used with winbind

2015-09-30 Thread Jonathan
Public bug reported:

when looking into our pc pool with 44 machines, in around 2-5 sessions
the System Menu is missing after a crash of indicator-session-service,
making the users unable to log out using the mouse.

There are arround 100 ubuntu machines for students with 32000 real users
from an active directory. The users cannot see any users real name.

I wasn't able to find the right debug symbols, but in the disassembly it looks
like a crash in service.c:321 .
In the attached crash dump the instruction pointer points to 0x4120a0 in
memory, which should be the get_current_realname function.

static const char *
get_current_real_name (IndicatorSessionService * self)
{
  GHashTableIter iter;
  gpointer key, value;

  /* is it the guest? */
  if (indicator_session_guest_is_active (self->priv->backend_guest))
return _("Guest");

  /* is it a user? */
  g_hash_table_iter_init (, self->priv->users);
  while (g_hash_table_iter_next (, , ))
{
  IndicatorSessionUser * user = value;
  if (user->is_current_user) // SEGFAULT PROBABLY HERE (movzx edx, byte ptr
[r13]), r13=user ist NULL
return get_user_label (user);
}

  return "";
}

The strange thing is: before inserting into the hashmap, every user is checked
to be != NULL. So maybe I guessed the wrong function, or there are threading
issues.

using another machine with the same package selection, home directory,
user id, but user information with real name from ldap+kerberos, I
never observed this crash.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  Switching tabs between open source files with different file types in
  Eclipse causes the Source and Refactor menus to be empty in the global
  menu bar under Unity.

  This is a severe usability problem for many Eclipse users. The fix
  proposed has been available in a PPA and is well-tested.

  [Test Case]

  1. Open a new project in Eclipse.
  2. Open two files: one with a .java extension, another with a .txt extension.
  3. Switch between the .java file and the .txt file and back again.
  4. Open the Source or Refactor menu in the Unity global menu bar.

  Expected result: menus with menu items
  Actual result: empty menus for both

  [Regression Potential]

  The fix involves changes to both gtk and unity-gtk-module.

  The changes to gtk are minimal and only involve the reversal of a pair
  of signal emissions, in a part of the code (GtkMenuTracker) which is
  normally used by desktop environments, not typical user applications.
  Therefore regression potential for the gtk update is unlikely.

  The changes to unity-gtk-module involve emitting show and hide signals
  where they were none before has some regression potential for
  applications that are explicitly watching for when their menus are
  opening and closing. But this is rare for applications to do, and we
  likely would have already received bug reports for those that do.
  Being completely sure would require extensive testing across all gtk
  apps though.

  Both changes together have been available as a PPA, thoroughly tested
  for quite some time now.

  [Other Info]

  The changes to unity-gtk-module depend on the changes to gtk, so both
  must be tested in simultaneity. Suggested to upload both to trusty-
  proposed at the same time.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 888776] Re: search quicklist items [$50]

2015-09-30 Thread Sam Thomas
I think that all the actions for an application should show up when you
search for it, not just when you search for the particular action. This
is because a user might not know the particular name of the action they
want, instead thy would only know the name of the application.

Bug description:
  There's currently a trend of application developers to provide
  multiple .desktops for their apps in order to get to different parts
  of the app (for example private browsing in a web browser). One
  possible way to fulfill that need without needing multiple .desktops
  littered around would be to have popular search-based launchers also
  search through quicklist items in a .desktop. In this way, power users
  who need quick access to those other functions can have them without
  littering menus or grids with extra icons.

  It's also important to note that many apps already use Quicklist items
  this way (as that's the designed use); adding the ability to search
  them would be an improvement to everyone as it'd expose those
  quicklist items via keyboard rather than requiring users to right-
  click on the launcher item.

  Assignment of multiple navigation keybindings does not work

Status in Unity:
  Confirmed
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Using gsettings/dconf on the command-line it should, in principle, be
  possible to assign multiple keybindings to each action in the
  "windows" and "navigation" groups, since the keys in
  org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings are lists.

  For example:
  Action:
  In a terminal enter:
  gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings close "['Pause', 'F4']"

  Expected result:
  Pressing either Pause or Alt-F4 results in the current window being closed.

  Actual result:
  Pressing Pause (i.e. the first keybinding in the list) closes the current
window but Alt-F4 has no effect.

  Present in Ubuntu 15.04.

  (This bug is not very important, since the graphical "System settings >
keyboard > Shortcuts" permits only the definition of one keybinding per action.
However, the desired functionality (allowing multiple keybindings) is more
logical and should work according to the wiki page:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Keybindings
  (section org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings).
  Also, in GNOME-shell, the definition of multiple keybindings via gsettings
does work.)
