Play music/enter into a call, so that you have active audio to the
  device.

Adjust the volume, using the UI or keys on the ubuntu phone.

The volume of the bluetooth headset changes (good) but the ui contains
no clue that this is what the phone is doing (less good). The standard
volume indicator is shown. This can lead to user confusion if they are
not currently using the paired bluetooth accessory, and have forgotten
it is paired. On other devices the volume indicator changes to provide
visual feedback that the bluetooth device volume is being set.

  Desired resolution:

Please use this icon to replace the volume icon. The icon is bluetooth

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1488344] Re: dbus rejected send messages

2015-10-30 Thread Lars Uebernickel
Indeed, accountsservice sends a reply even when the client talking to it
doesn't want one. The dbus daemon doesn't remember messages that have
NO_REPLY_EXPECTED set, so the replies from accountsservice look like
unsolicited messages to it and it denies them.

Gnome bug #755421 argues that this should be fixed in gdbus, and I
agree. gdbus automatically sets NO_REPLY_EXPECTED when no callback is
given, so it makes sense that it also handles the server side by
discarding replies for such messages. I've attached a patch upstream.

Bug description:
Currently Unity provides about two dozen keyboard shortcuts which are
  completely hardcoded.

It is essenetial from a productivity standpoint for the user to be
able to configure any of those. It was possible with Metacity /
Compiz through the Keyboard Shortcuts window. The same interface
could be used for Unity for updating its configuration and possibly
  featuring few Unity-specific keybindings.

  Desired resolution:

  - All the unity keyboard shortcuts (defined in the following document,
https://docs.google.com/a/canonical.com/document/d/1jqeKtIJwqLtl58Wk_fqjr9Rrgxn9zsouCYOo-cZsLSE/edit?hl=en_GB
) should be present and configurable using the 'Keyboard/Shortcuts' panel in
'System Settings'
  - Any keyboard shortcuts that are not supported by Unity should be removed.

Review the following keyboard shortcut bugs before fixing this bug:
  - F10 shortcut is used to show menu and this is wrong (bug #878492)
  - Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do what most people typing it would expect (bug
#890747)
  - Unity window placement shortcuts require a numpad (bug #751050)
  - Add keyboard shortcut hint overlay that is displayed when a user presses
and holds the Super key (bug #855532)
  - The grid keybindings are behaving inconsistently (bug #878820)
  - Make Unity keyboard shortcuts configurable (bug #775434)
  - Shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade (bug #891757)
  - Unity should also use Super-L to lock screen by default (bug #830709)
  - Improvements to Launcher reveal when Super is pressed behaviour (bug
#905342)

Uninstalled webapps don't appear in the Dash Apps Lens

Because WebApps don't need to be 'installed' in the traditional sense,
and they are very lightweight, we would like to ship 13.04 with all
  WebApps installed by default.

This will solve the problem of WebApps not appearing in the Dash Apps
  Lens.

We will still need the WebApps 'discovery' popup that appears under
the URL bar in the Firefox and Chromium browsers. However we will
need to change the text to say:

"This website is available as an Ubuntu webapp. Would you like to pin
  it's icon to the Launcher?"

The default button text should change to "Pin to Launcher", with a
  secondary option of "No thanks!"

This change mirrors the work we are doing with the Smart Scopes
project where all of the available scopes will be installed by
  default.

  controls on the laptop itself.

The notification that the brightness has changed appears on the
external monitor (which I am not adjusting the brightness of) instead
of the laptop I am currently adjusting the brightness of, and am
  looking at. (first screenshot)

Note that if I slide my external screen to the side slightly in
display properties, the notification appears in the laptop instead.
  (second screenshot)

  -
  Desired Resolution:

  - Brightness notifications should only every appear on the monitor
whose brightness is currently being changed.

HUD - HUD offers search results from app indicators more often than
  from currently focused application

Status in Ayatana Design:
  Fix Committed
Status in Application Menu Indicator:

Status in indicator-appmenu package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
When using the HUD, search results are always reduced to menu items in
the keyboard or network application indicators, irrespective of what
  application has the focus.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Start a application (e.g. Character map)
  2. Press ALT to open the HUD: the HUD search box opens with the 'Character
Map' icon next to it
  3. Type "sh"

  Expected behaviour
The HUD should favour menu options from the application that currently has
the focus and only show app indicator menu options as secondary items. In the
example above, the Character Map functions should be shown at the top of the
list because this application has focus.

There needs to be more weighting in favour of focused application (as opposed
to the indicators)

  --
  Note from design:

This is an important bug, the display of indicator and desktop options
needs to be retarded. The indicator options currently have too high
  of a prominence.

I'm assuming the issue is related to Compiz, but I'm not 100% sure.
When I'm switching workspaces, it occasionally locks up (becoming more

(Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow), and it freezes mid slide. Typically, I'm able
to correct things by backing out to a terminal then returning
(Ctrl+Alt+F1, pause, Alt+F7), but sometimes when I return the dual
screen setup acts as one large screen (windows are stretched to the
full width of both screens) and many of the windows collect on the

  Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

In gnome-keybindings-properties, in the Accessibility section, there
are three entries by default: toggle magnifier, toggle screen reader,
and toggle on-screen keyboard. None of these work, whether or not
Assistive Technologies is currently running and whether or not orca is
  currently running.

WHAT I EXPECT TO HAPPEN: I should be able to configure a shortcut to
any of these actions, such as Ctrl-Alt-A to the Toggle magnifier
action. Then, pressing, Ctrl-Alt-A will start the magnifier.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS: I am able to modify the entry in the gnome-
keybindings-properties window, but pressing the designated key does
not perform any action. That is, the magnifier does not open. Changing
the hotkeys for other actions works okay.

WHY THIS IS BAD: This is confusing and misleading behavior, and can be
especially damaging for people who need the accessibility features.
Ideally, the keybindings should be fixed, but otherwise they should be
  removed from the dialog.

This is true under up-to-date Lucid 10.04 tested on several systems.

Title:
"Restart" not available when suppress-shutdown-menuitem is set

Status in Ayatana Design:
  Triaged
Status in Session Menu:
  Triaged
Status in indicator-session package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Problem occurs in: indicator-session 12.10.5daily13.03.08-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu R
Does not occur in: Ubuntu 12.10

  1. In dconf-editor, set apps:indicator-session:suppress-shutdown-menuitem.
  2. Try to restart the computer.

What happens: The menu provides no access to the Restart command.

What should happen: The Restart item is there regardless of whether
the Shut Down item is available.

This is a regression of bug 1015558. It is distinct from bug 1156566,
but could be fixed the same way.
