If the overlay-scrollbar packages are removed menu windows open, vlc
complains about module not able to be loaded & menus are not as accessible as
they should be.
If vlc is opened with export LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 && vlc then all is well.
As I understand overlay-scrollbars is not going to be used or something like
that, hence yet again starting bug on vlc though other packages like calibre
may be affected & or the cause

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1531516] Re: qt5/gtk integration needs to disable overlay-scrollbars since they create issues

2016-02-15 Thread fabianbur
Thank you. I can say in honor wing true that this command is arranged:
gsettings set com.canonical.desktop.interface scrollbar-mode normal

And with this command fails again:
gsettings set com.canonical.desktop.interface scrollbar-mode overlay-auto

So I guess there is a reference to overlay scrollbar.

I am glad that the subject is rather channel the bug to a solution.
Sorry if I misunderstood. But I have seen other bugs that are marked as
invalid saying they do not exist when I have reported and there, I have
not invented. Or someone called upgrade packages when these are updated.

Calibre and VLC are two of the programs that I use and I am glad that
soon they are fully operational.

@fabianbur: it was marked as such because the bug is not in "overlay-
scrollbar" package, but in "qtbase-opensource-src" instead. It will get
handled latest tomorrow although the automatic QA will take an
additional day or two.

2016-02-15 Thread fabianbur
I do not understand what raises Sebastien Bacher (seb128) it may be
because my language is Spanish.

I have Xenial developing right now and so far this error is not
corrected.

Xenial that is corrected is not true.

To be corrected in the future, hopefully, but only two months away and
that mistake and I have reported several times.

I do not see is someone from team of Ubuntu assigned for resolution
either.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1531516] Re: Overlay scrollbars causes menu windows to be vastly oversized & unusable

2016-02-15 Thread Sebastien Bacher
That's an issue with qtbase-opensource-src, the xenial update has

" * Remove disable_overlay_scrollbars.diff as overlay scrollbars were
dropped."

That's still needed though, they were not removed from gtk2 and the
issue ... Timo, can you fix that in the next upload?

As a temporary workaround, I've been running this script in background
which kills indicator-session-service when it hits 500M of rss:

#!/bin/sh
while sleep 1; do
rss=$(ps -C indicator-session-service -o rss=)
if [ -n "$rss" ] && [ "$rss" -gt 50 ]; then
pkill -f indicator-session-service -u hyperair && \

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1523698] Re: indicator-session is leaking memory on ubuntu 15.10

2016-02-15 Thread Chow Loong Jin
I ran it through valgrind by diverting indicator-session-service and
replacing it with the following script:

#!/bin/bash

exec valgrind \
--tool=massif \
--alloc-fn={g_slice_alloc,g_malloc,g_realloc} \
--massif-out-file=$HOME/massif-dump/indicator-session-service.out.%p \

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/indicator-session/indicator-session-service.distrib \
"$@"

Running ms_print on the output files gave me some stack traces of the

As a FYI : some of those devices may have an IC that allows for NOBATOP
operation. For example, the TI BQ24160 was popular in Android handsets and
has support for such a mode.

This is to preserve a little battery for use cases such as:

  * turn it back on once or twice for urgent short phone calls
  * prevent the battery from going into a state where it can't be charged any
more
  * have enough power to turn itself on again and trigger an alarm

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1317860] Re: the phone should switch itself off before completely draining battery

2016-02-15 Thread Michael Zanetti
It is not limited to frieza. Once you have 3 or 4 developer devices, you
will frequently run into this issue. Whenever you need to test something
on that particular device, rest assured it wants to be charged for 10
mins before turning on :)

Bug description:
the phone should switch itself off at around ~5% remaining battery.

2016-02-15 Thread Alejandro J. Cura
mzanetti mentions that this bug is critical to him, because every time a
frieza device reaches 0% charge he's blocked from further using it
because it needs to charge up to some safe value before being able to
turn it on.

** Changed in: indicator-power (Ubuntu)

Bug description:
In Ubuntu 12.10 I was able to use HUD to access Messaging menu and Gwibber's
"Update Status" option there, making status updates to Twitter easy and fast.
I could also use HUD to change my status in Empathy from Available to Busy
and vice-versa.

In Ubuntu 13.04 Beta HUD no longer finds the "Update Status" option when
typing "Update Status" or "Update"
Also writing "Available" "Away" or "Busy" no longer gives any results.

Other indicators however are accessible and I can use HUD to Suspend
my computer or to view Skype status or Ubuntu one indicator options.

  Repeating:
  1. Press alt key to start HUD
  2. Write "Update status" or "Available"

  What was expected:
HUD should have shown options ether from Gwibber to Update Status or Empathy
to change status to Available both available from the messaging indicator.

  What happened:
  HUD didn't find any results.

  Notes:
  I have Ubuntu 13.04 Beta 64bit upgraded from Ubuntu 12.10 64bits and I'm
using proprietary fglrx drivers.

Bug description:
  Laptop has internal panel
  External display connected via displayport.

External monitor is above my laptop screen (it's physically positioned
on a book further back on the same desk) so not side-by-side.

I want to adjust my laptop display brightness so I use the brightness
  controls on the laptop itself.

The notification that the brightness has changed appears on the
external monitor (which I am not adjusting the brightness of) instead
of the laptop I am currently adjusting the brightness of, and am
  looking at. (first screenshot)

Note that if I slide my external screen to the side slightly in
display properties, the notification appears in the laptop instead.
  (second screenshot)

  -
  Desired Resolution:

  - Brightness notifications should only every appear on the monitor
whose brightness is currently being changed.

Status in unity-lens-applications package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
If you modify a desktop file in /usr/share/applications (say change
leafpad's name to leafpad - changed), it gets picked up immediately
after saving the file when using the dash (by typing leaf, "leafpad -
  changed" would pop up.

For files in ~/.local/share/applications, this does not hold. Editing
them is not picked up by the dash and presumably the bamf. One needs
to usually change the name of the desktop file for it to be noticed.
And that does not work 100 % either.

Uninstalled webapps don't appear in the Dash Apps Lens

Because WebApps don't need to be 'installed' in the traditional sense,
and they are very lightweight, we would like to ship 13.04 with all
  WebApps installed by default.

This will solve the problem of WebApps not appearing in the Dash Apps
  Lens.

We will still need the WebApps 'discovery' popup that appears under
the URL bar in the Firefox and Chromium browsers. However we will
need to change the text to say:

"This website is available as an Ubuntu webapp. Would you like to pin
  it's icon to the Launcher?"

The default button text should change to "Pin to Launcher", with a
  secondary option of "No thanks!"

This change mirrors the work we are doing with the Smart Scopes
project where all of the available scopes will be installed by
  default.
