[Dx-packages] [Bug 725435] Re: notify-osd a memory hog (memory leak?)

2019-02-10 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Unfortunately, notify-osd seems to be abandoned. Not sure which project
is the replacement. We should still try to get the patch packaged.

I don't think a simple notifcation daemon should suck up more than a

Up to date valgrind and testing for leaks

Status in notify-osd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
As some existing memory leak bugs have long out of date valgrind
reports and do not in any way reflect the current codebase they cannot
be considered valid any longer. This includes bug #378193 and #405364
both of which have had specific fixes committed.

This bug is intended as a reminder to produce some valgrind reports
and collect any intermediate valgrind reports from testing.

2019-02-10 Thread Rolf Leggewie
nh2, thank you for your work. It's much appreciated.

I'm backlogged and thus have only become aware of your contribution now.
Sorry about that. Have you talked to upstream about your patch? Looks
like an easy fix after all (I'm sure that finding it was hard work,
thank you for that).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
