Im not sure if im reading this right but it appears both upstream and
downstream is assuming this will be fixed by the other party and both
marked this as fixed.

Am I reading this properly?

Wine's icon and description appears for all Windows applications

Bug description:
If I start an application using Crossover (or Wine), the application will
always be the Wine Logo instead of the application logo. This is the same
independent of the application being run or using Wine instead of Crossover.
That makes sense if the application has no logo, but it gets confusing
running multiple Microsoft Office programs - and all of them have the same logo.
The hint text for the icon is also "Wine Windows Program Loader" instead of
"Document 1 - Microsoft Word" as it should be.
Unity does not seem to allow Wine/Crossover to use application icons and
title text.

I have confirmed that this issue does NOT occur in Gnome Classic, and
  is only a Unity flaw.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 877444] Re: launcher does not show minimized update manager while clicked

2014-05-28 Thread Frederic Defoy
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1003950 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1003950

I am also having the problem right now in Ubuntu 14.04

I also experience a similar issue with other windows disapearing from
the screens AND the launcher after I minimize them. It may be another
problem not sure... I confirm it happened with Chrome and terminal
windows from Remmina.

The update manager gets launched automatically because it founds some

It looks similar to bug #801593, but I am not sure, because this
application should not be positioned "across desktops".

However, the differences are: 1) I am not

This is exactly the kind of crap killing linux. How can you expect ppl
to switch over from other OSes when they have to deal with this kind of
issues? This is BASIC stuff, it needs to work flawlessly. You can just
have programs and windows magicly disappear like that.

Too many distros not enough time makes linux a poor os.

Bug description:
Update manager is showing up in the dock but I can click on the icon
all day and nothing happens. Similarly if I do Super-S or Super-W it
  doesn't show up anywhere.

Even if I alt-tab to the application nothing shows up. This happens
only when update manager runs on its own. If I kill it and then launch
it myself it comes to the foreground just fine.

I'm not 100% sure whether this is a unity, compiz, or update-manager
bug but so far my bet is on unity.

Bug #877444 is showing again in latest updates, please re-open it. This is
